PianoPracticeDiary
Добавлен 30 дек 2022
Hi,
this is my video diary of me practicing piano. I want to upload every one of my practice sessions without cutting anything. It will be interesting for me to see, how much exactly I am practicing and I can keep track of my progress. Maybe someone finds it interesting how others practice or maybe I can get some pointers from you.
I started taking piano lessons in march 2022 and was 33 years old at that time. I bought a stage piano in October 2021 and quickly realised that I need a teacher.
I have a little bit of history trying to play the piano, but never had lessons before.

Nice piece, well done!
@@mrsmokpiano Thanks😉
Really nice piece! Thanks for sharing!
Yes it is very good passion play Michael ! Thank you my Friend . Gorgeous piece too...👏👏👏
@@alexgoriatchenkov Thank you Alex🙏
I played this piece 2 years ago at my recital. Brings back memories even thiuh Im still learning piano.
😅
Dedication right there. But if you’re seriously trying to learn a piece well, I would really recommend practicing then SLEEPING. Anecdotally, Once you wake up the next morning you end up being so much better at the piece than you were previously, even if you were playing it mostly detached/tentatively. Compound it overtime and it’s much more efficient imo
I do sleep between practice sessions😉 I just decided not to include the footage of me sleeping into the short😄
@@pianopracticediary How long are your practice sessions
@@Mabbdaa Never longer than an hour. Sometimes multiple sessions per day. I used to upload my whole sessions here on my channel quite consistently, take a look😉
what is the model of the instrument? nice video!
@@peopletakepicturesofeachother Thanks😉 Its a Kawai mp11se
@@pianopracticediary thanks a lot! keep it it up!
Metronome might help
Love the authenticity, this type of content is lacking in the piano space but is so reassuring to pianist about how long it truly takes to learn a piece. Great job!
Good job, i like how you keep going whatever happen with your fingers, it’s a good habit
I played this fully in my first go😅
Witnessing your progress is really cool🙏🙏‼‼ Currently on the same journey
Thats great! So what pieces are you working on currently?
@@pianopracticediary sorry for the late response. im currently working on liebestraum no. 3, but these cadenzas are killing me lol
Good morning my friend! I love this piece so much! Very nice work and thank you for sharing!!
Thank you very much Tony! Yes Medtner wrote some beautiful piano music. Currently he is probably my favorite composer for piano music😊
Horoshaya Skazka 😅
I enjoy watching your practice. How long have you been playing piano and are you located anywhere near Atlanta, GA. We have a great music group here.
Hey, thanks! I started taking lessons 2.5 years ago. I have been trying to teach myself to play the piano a few times when I was a teenager, but it always didnt last very long. I live in germany😅
@@pianopracticediaryKeep up the good work ….you have inspired me to start recording myself. My teacher has been encouraging me to do so.
excellent post the whole thing !
thanks, i posted the whole piece. Its on my playlist „finished pieces“😉
Nice practice on the Etude!!
Hello Michael. Nice Practice time you have and definitely improving your technics. P.S. I'm almost full month not touching my piano keyboard with travel times....
It's so nice to listen to you play again!!
Thank you my friend! You havent uploaded yourself in a long time. Hope you’re still practicing off camera😉
@@pianopracticediary Yes, for sure! Looking forward to posting again!
I like your dust 😂
I can pack it up and send it over to you😉😄
I got that same mistake lol (I mean the same exact notes pressed)
Hello Michael, it was Nice and Clean ! Thanks for uploading,
Thank you Alex🙂
How can you play these songs you've been uploading lately? I feel like I am hearing a different pianist than when you were uploading your daily practice videos. I feel like you must have worked on these songs before and you are going back to them?
You’re right, this one I’ve played 2 years ago. Still had to put a lot of time into relearning😅
progress is clearly visible!
thank you🙏
That was brilliant 🥹
Thank you my friend🙏

Good playing my Friend ! Thanks.
Hello, my dear friend! Thanks for sharing this wonderful music! Like 13 👍 Very nice! Always be healthy and happy!
Thank you Marisha, you too!
Hello my friend. Pretty difficult piece but you moving well. Good job!
Thank you Alex!
With this one I definitely bit off more than I could chew😅 It’s quite unfinished and there are lots of mistakes, but I have to move on. I might revisit this piece in the far future….
Once you realize a piece isn't moving you forward because it's too much, shelving it is really the best course of action, as hard as it is to admit defeat sometimes! I've actually had a chat with my teacher about stretching myself too far on some of my selections and making sure he reigns me in as my "shelf" is getting a bit full 😀
Beautiful work.
Very beautiful performance!
Nice piece! Well played :D
Oh God, it was Incredible playing! Thanks for sharing !
This sounds very good!! I feel a lot of passion and sorrow 🥹
Hello my friend, how are you doing? I just passed 1st year my piano learning and uploaded my some repertoire with Pence piece in the very end... ruclips.net/video/fEkkejm7Uco/видео.htmlsi=mRe7s6E2bLcr2anj

LIKE 03 👍 I love this playing the piano 🎹 Thank you so much for your wonderful sharing ✨️
Great work, my friend! 👏🏻
some good challenges in this piece -- you're giving it the right kind of practice -- a labor of love -- it will be nice -- and fun -- when finished (almost sounds like jazz if you played the 16ths in a dotted rhythm ...)
I notice your Prokofiev is less stuttering and more flowing. It sounds really beautiful.
Hey, thank you!! I really like that piece, but I hope I can finish it soon😄 The last page is quite difficult though...
Hey thanks! Tbh I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right😅 You said something like 10x straight quarters, 10x dotted,… for each hand and then together…After the first runs I thought “no way thats gonna be possible in 10 minutes”😅 So I skipped many runs…
at 1:05 -- *O* *M* *G* !! A 1000% improvement in technic! Fingers correctly shaped, crossovers placed in advance, fingers on keys before playing, metronomic precision, unified transfer of weight from forearm through wrists, hands and fingers, consistent articulation -- fingers playing precisely together, and just about the right amount of time. Ten minutes of perfect technic practice is worth more than hours of inattentive "whatever ..." practice! It's not "practice makes perfect" -- practice yields what is practiced (the musical version of GIGO -- garbage in -- garbage out). Practicing perfection yields perfection. At 5:20 -- consciously practicing perfection quickly lets you know that the tempo you're working at is just about right -- able to maintain good form and accuracy without feeling tense or pushed (a good criteria with which to evaluate an effective tempo) . You fed your brain some good stuff to catalog -- only good stuff -- no mistakes to have to de-catalog/re-catalog ... *TOTALLY* *AWESOME* Keep that all intact as you *gradually* advance tempo -- your hands (and mind) will learn to "refuse" to play any way other than correctly! AWESOME! I'm totally impressed! That is some serious conservatory-level practice! ... and I can already see (and hear) the results in your repertoire practice --
The Hanon is coming -- if you find it gets boring, try alternating between one measure of Hanon#1 and one measure of Hanon #5 :-) Great work on the Prokokief! - good to see you're breaking it into manageable sessions with some space between.
Good focus and precision work ! I look forward to catching up with you in April 2024 -- about 28-some days in the future (04/04/2024) .. meanwhile I'll just have to hang back here in March (03/04/2024) ;-)
Sehr schön! Danke für die Inspiration!
As a new player myself, can i ask what type of music you like....ive never practiced like hanon etc, i would get bored and stop playing practicing like this.... I prob play 3or 4 hours a day, only playing the music that got me into playing in the first place... boogie woogie, practicing trills, licks, intos, bass lines, songs like ,stomp and swannee river.Your dedication though is inspiring , everyday the aim is to get better, keep at it👍
Thanks for commenting! Usually I'm not a fan of Hanon either😄 But I was challenged to do it in f sharp minor and some intervals apart, and thats actually kind of fun and challenging. I fell in love with classical music more than a decade ago and listen to it pretty much exclusively. But there are so many subgenres and periods it never gets boring. I listen to all periods from Bach to Xenakis😄 Since I started learning piano I got more into piano repertoire. My favorite composers in that regard are Rachmaninoff, Medtner, Bach, Sibelius(sadly his piano works are somewhat obscure), Grieg, Messiaen
@@pianopracticediary perfect answer to my post.I started playing in lockdown after watching dr k and terry miles amaze commuters in train stations playig boogie woogie, jst over 2 years later im addicted to the keyboard, trying to get better.Whatever our taste in music, the enjoyment one gets out of the instrument keeps us playing, day in, day out
@@jeffbarker4895 Terry Miles is a hoot -- love to watch & hear him play!
Keep it going bro
Thanks!! You too😉
Good luck !
