I document my life with MCAS, dysphagia and esophageal dysmotility through a series of video diaries that I started to record from May 2024 onwards. The videos are labeled in consecutive order #1, #2 etc., so they can be viewed as a continuing story in which one episode builds on the next. Some episodes are in vlog format, others are short educational talks about the health problems I face on a daily basis and the ways I deal with them.
I also post "Shorts" on a regular basis. Unlike the video diaries, these are about our beautiful New Zealand landscapes, beaches, hiking, my dogs and exercise.

#15 Nonspecific esophageal motility disorder (NEMD)
I received my diagnosis this week. After clinical evaluation of all tests I was diagnosed with Nonspecific Esophageal Motility Disorder (NEMD). My condition does not meet the diagnostic criteria for achalasia which was a relief to hear. On the other hand - there's not that much that can be done about it either. The road ahead will be interesting.

#13 Finally able to eat again
Просмотров 25Месяц назад
The past two or three weeks have been going well. Although still severely limited in my food choices I am finally getting enough nutrition again so I'm feeling much better now. I still have no answer what causes the transit time through the esophagus to be so slow but hoping to know more by the end of the monh.

In this episode I take you along for a road trip to the New Zealand city of Hamilton where I had a medical appointment for esophageal manometry testing. The video follows me from Monday 12 August through to Thursday 15 August 2024. The good news is that I tolerated the procedure very well and the weather was absolutely stunning - a wonderful day for such a long car journey (we spent a total of ...

Living with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome [Channel Introduction]
I’m getting one on October 9th it starts at 1:30 can’t eat or drink anything I’m scared
It's a very safe procedure. I've had several over the years and never had any problems. It only takes about 10 mins and it's all done. The not eating and drinking beforehand is definitely the worst part! 😅
@@realGiselaP thank you
Aww cool, they cleared the wood away👌
