That’s a whole different problem. I have ZERO confidence that someone can taste 100 whiskeys in one sitting and stay objective. Not even the master distillers/blenders are doing that. Talked to a couple of them from major distilleries and they say they won’t do more than 5-10 at a time.

I’ve heard others say the same, and like I said it wowed me initially. Not sure if it’s hype or if it needed more proof, or what.

Agreed. I’m honestly not sure that if this years age stated Russell’s release isn’t a 13 that I’ll buy it.

My friend Sheri from the @bourbonbesties has one that I wanna try. I’m 50/50 on Honey finished (not a big rio fan) but it does sound intriguing. The Nulu Peach Brandy finished is one that I’ve enjoyed mostly because I like crown peach (guilty pleasure) and the Nulu is like that on steroids.

I’ve had a couple really good Nulu’s. I wouldn’t dismiss it. Would say it should be tried.

Solid list! Hard to beat anything Octomore, but I’ve had the non CS Laphroaig 25 and it was 👌

Yeah I’ve had a few of their expressions that are guilty pleasures and this one just hits.

I’ve definitely had whiskey taste salty//briney before. Maybe a dumb question but did you try a different glass?

@@GentlemenandWhiskey So, I did go back and revisit the bottle and compared it to my others in house: Russel's 10, Old Forester 100 and a Sazerac Rye. Three nice whiskeys and a salt bomb. The cork did feel loose when I first popped the EC. Convinced it's just a bad bottle. Gonna have a few cork problems when you put out thousands and thousands of bottles. I'll give em another shot. it happens.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Most Michter’s ends up being too low proof for me

So for the 12 days of whiskey, I “review” what’s left after all the kits are poured to distribute to my whiskey group and anyone else who bought one of the sets. So it’s usually 24oz worth out of each bottle so there’s an ounce ish left to review out of each one.

I agree. There’s a few craft brands that I think will survive. Namely: Holladay, Redwood Empire, 13th Colony, Kings County, and Nulu.

It’s relatively newer and it’s not widely distributed yet. They had a booth at KBF and I hit them up. Pretty solid whiskey, even for low proof.

It is a lot of money but it’s below the $10/year threshold. I think it’s great for the price

Biggest criticism of RE is pricing but that’s pretty much all craft.

@GentlemenandWhiskey agreed. I was really excited to see the flagship Pipe Dream finally in FWGS stores but at $42, I won't be replacing it immediately. I did grab a backup bottle of the Pipe Dream CS from this year and really enjoy that bottle.

Yeah I wish we had the regular Lost Monarch, it’s BY FAR my favorite RE offering.

I’ve seen the 10 year at local store for almost 2k and they sell. Maybe next time I’ll get and sell secondary. These will be opened to see the hype.

Secondary is nowhere near 2k for either of them

Where I live and where I’ve asked friends, family and colleagues, they all have about the same price 🤷🏼‍♂️

You can have them shipped to your door for 700 on FB secondary groups. Illegal? Sure. But I’ve done it.

Well there's at least 16 other people that got these kits (and have done so for 3 years now, mind you), and none of them have died yet so maybe you're just projecting your struggles with addiction on to others who can keep a healthy relationship with it?
