Lol. I hate to tell you but decos are junk. If you want a real Swiss machine get a star ecas or knc. The change over and set up time on those deco machines is totally ridiculous and unnecessary. They like to break down a lot also. Star makes a far superior machine. No joke. I have pretty extensive experience with both. Seriously do yourself and your employees a favor and switch if you can. I love what the Swiss machine is capable of and I'm just offering a honest opinion from experience here. Best of luck to you. I had my hands on literally the first deco 2000 machines sent to the USA in mount joy PA. We had several of every model they make. Tyco was the company. If you want to drastically cut down your set up and down time look at star machines. You will be very very happy and so will your employees.

Spent many years cutting my teeth on Acme-Gridley automatic screw machines... Things have come a long way since those days. I recently purchased monolithic copper bullets for handloading that were turned on a Swiss style CNC machine... Amazing precision and consistency.

This machine makes precision parts. The operator has his hands and arms in oil most of the day changing cutting tools and checking dimensions of parts after washing parts in solvent. Depending on the part being produced, the stock can be nasty and is washed off in the machine by each tool that has an oil tube spraying oil on the material being worked which causes the oil in the machine reservoir to be dirty. The operator needs to wash his hands and arms hourly with grit soap if he wants to stay well. The dirty oil produces black heads on your arms and neck and the noise is about 110 db's depending on how many machines are running in an area and ear protection is a must. This is a precision parts making machine and the operator has to be trained thoroughly. There are operators, and setters. A setter set's up the machine with the correct feeds and speeds and the tools needed like drills, taps, threaders, etc. The operator needs to be trained to a very high level so that he knows when and how to change the tools before they become worn and break, which then in turn "wipes out" all the tools in the machine if the operator is not standing directly by the machine. If you go into this trade, learn to set and operate and demand a minimum of $30 an hour plus benefits.I know, as I worked with these machines for ten years in the 70's with the United Auto Workers making valve lifters and tappets and other precision parts. Wear a plastic apron and don't bring your oily clothes home for your wife to wash.

I love it when customer ask me why I can't make cheap simple parts on a modern CNC swiss. I can, but the older style davenports ans cam machines will always make them faster and cheaper when doing volume.

They say nothing more advanced. But I run the most advanced machinery out there. Index Ms 40-8 runs 8 spindles plus 2 back working positions simultaneously. Ya Swiss machines are great for long small dia parts. But the multi spindles are where it's at as far as production for the future

It was not just US and Swiss that devised this machinery, the British and Germans did a lot too.

I intend to use this video next time my customer (internal) asks why I can't do a bazillion turned parts with milled features at a competitive cost on my Hardinge HLV-H toolroom lathe. Thank you!

FANUC controls, no thanks. I spent almost 15 years on FANUC. My new shop is mostly Citizen with Cincom controls. After using the Cincom control for the last 2 years I don't think I'd want to go back to that antiquated FANUC control. If FANUC wants to stay relevant in the machining control market they really need to step up their game.

First time I've actually heard (and seen) in detail the difference between these machines. Also now I know why it's called a screw machine! Thanks!
