Port Angeles, WA to Forks, WA on a Triumph Bonneville T120
In this series of videos Bruce and I explore the Olympic Peninsula on a motorcycle adventure with a twist: we are participating in two challenge rides created by Warrior Angel Riders (W.A.R). W.A.R is a group that provides a community for and supports female riders. The challenge rides we are doing are named N’Usual to Pekuliar and Quirky Quicky. The goal of the challenge rides is not to finish the fastest, but to hit as many locations as possible and to photograph yourself and your bike at that location.

      IMHO the video needs to visually indicate that one is riding on a motorcycle. I have tried multiple camera placements since starting recording my rides and this position is the least distracting and shows as much of the scenery as I can. The clocks really only block the tarmac. If I were to move the camera higher but keep it on the handle bars one would just see scenery and loose the visual cue that one was on a motorcycle. If I were to move the camera back towards myself, the viewer would see way more of the handle bars which I find more distracting when I am watching other channels. I am not sure that there is a way to accomplish what you want me to accomplish without destroying the feel of the ride that I want to capture.

    The strap you're calling a shoulder strap, goes over your seat and helps support the pannier the other side. Did you not look at other video's to see how they fitted??

    • @pdxt120
      @pdxt120 Месяц назад

      I did not watch other videos before I tried to put these on the bike. But I suspected as much, but I did not want a strap across my seat. If you remember from my comments about my previous over the seat bags, the seat harness discolored the white striping which goes around my seat and there was no way that I was going to put straps over my seat going forward. I have put thousands of miles on the bike and the bags since I added them and there has been no problem with the bags staying secure on the bike without the straps.

  • @Mark-ix8rz
    @Mark-ix8rz 2 месяца назад

    Sorry but this video invents problems that aren't there. When you put your stuff in the bag with that weight they won't rattle and I doubt very much they'd rattle when empty. People don't cut the shoulder strap. Those S hooks come across the top of the bag to hold it closed and you can use them to secure the shoulder strap. This is what happens when you think your smarter than the designer. Didn't even put the boards in place that give the bag it's square shape. I'm sorry but this is a terrible video with bad advice. I put them on a T100 and they're fine without hacking on them.

      I apologize that it took me so long to reply but your comment that I did not "put the baords in place that give the bag it's square shape..." confused me. Always better to play it safe than take higher levels of risk than you feel comfortable with. If you can buy them now I would bite the bullet. In terms of tires I am not sure if they make them in your tire size but I have had exceptional experience with the michelin road series. Def a bit pricey but worth it as the longevity/grip in wet/dry conditions are great.

      @@cdh3671 thank you. I had researched the Michelin Road Classic tires but was not sure they were still available because when I would check to see if places had them in stock I was always told they were not. I finally did get new tires installed and the local Triumph dealer had the Michelin Road Classics and I did buy them. I put 100 miles on the new tires today and I absolutely love them. It feels like a brand new bike. I did not want to stop riding!! Thanks for the wonderful advice!!

    I bought these bags, too. The shoulder strap is not removable. The cushion wrapping on them is, so you can cross the seat without it and the straps will lay flat, but then you have to store the cushions in your bag if you're going to use them. The straps should have been mounted at the ends of the bag so they could help hold the lid closed. I'm thinking of cutting the strap off, too. But I would leave enough on it to make a loop with a sewing machine and use one of those "S" type clips to connect it again if needed. The two straps that can be used to carry them with one hand will not join together if the bag is filled to its limit. They should have been longer. Not sure how I will fix that at the moment. The hooks that clip the bag on the rack skip from 18mm to 22mm. My bars are 20mm. So the 22mm setting has these bags sitting loose. I'll look for some plastic tubing to slip on my bars to make up the difference. There are six straps to tie this bag onto your rack. The bottom two are so far down the bag that they have to come back up to tie onto the rack bar. If you make them tight, they will want to lift the bag off the top hooks. But they are the only straps worth using to hold the bag on the bike. The side straps aren't mounted in a way to make them useful for that. The waterproof inner bag isn't much better than a garbage bag. If the outside is so water resistant, why bother with these inner bags? The main bag has a drain hole on the bottom, which moisture can work its way into the bag and your clothes, so keep that in mind if you remove the "garbage" bag. The front pocket has a strip of Velco-like cloth on it. The back panel should have had that so I could Velco it to the plate on my rack. The straps that go over the top to secure the top closed wants to slide off the sides like a strap on a woman's dress slips off her shoulders. They can be crisscrossed to fix that. The inner bag should have been mounted a little deeper, and the top flap zippered closed. There is nothing to keep it closed when filled except folding it over. Frankly, these bags need a lot of work, design wise. The side material seems very sturdy, but the bottom material is questionable. The bag has loops sewn all over without any purpose beyond looks. It would have been nice to have bottle holders on the sides. The straps that are used to hold it to the rack will loose tension if you remove anything from the bag, so you will have to re-tighten them, or visa-versa. Bottom line, I likely wasted my money on these bags, but there really isn't anything else out there for this kind of price. When they come out with ver. 2.0, I will likely upgrade and sell these bags off.

I watched the video again and if you look closely the pickup needed to ride in the bike lane to get in front of me. If he had stayed in in his lane he would have hit me. Also, I don't know if you live in the Pacific Northwest, but this was an East Coast merge. Drivers out here will give lots of space on a merge. In fact, they usually give too much space. By Oregon standards this was an aggressive merge.
