👀 when I see so many cool gadgets on a gun it makes me think the owner has never been in a real life and death situation. With the exception of a range gun that’s for fun. No offense. Things happen usually! Unexpected and insanely fast so fast you really don’t have time to use sight because things are in the personal space. Most the time folks don’t even find the red dots or green…just saying for a carry piece good quality iron sights night sight and handheld flashlights the way to go but that’s totally just me.

The difference between printing from 10 to 13 round mag is fixable by holster alteration or change.

Smith & Wesson was my favorite gun company, I have several of their products, but over the years I can see huge downgrade in quality and customer service. They are almost rude and when I sent them their top of the line gun for repair ($850 S&W 2.0 Metal) they didn’t even address the main reason I sent my gun back without any comment or explanation or apology. Yesterday I was on a Gun Show and their newest model with different racking groves design almost cut my fingers when attempting to rack the slide. Unbelievable how sharp these groves are on each side. This gun cannot be operated safely without gloves. Someone at S&W systematically ruins the company and their good reputation. I thought new product from Tennessee factory would be better, but they are much worse.

The slide release usually works fine with a fully loaded magazine. The only issue that I have with the shield is that it doesn't have a front rail or proper front serrations. It would basically be the perfect carry option if they would simply add those 2 features. I also want them to add night sights with a front orange sight. I hate it when companies go with a green front sight because everything in nature is green/brown so it can be difficult to quickly spot out a green front sight while being outside. The apex trigger kit is far superior to the trigger in the shield plus and was released a decade ago so I don't understand why they couldn't just give us a trigger like the apex kit with the shield plus. As a company they do tiny upgrades from generation to generation instead of making a perfect carry option so that they can keep selling the next model. Basically Smith&Wesson is following the same business model as glock now which is super disappointing to me as a customer because s&w was my favorite manufacturer.

having carried a shield for 10 years (since it came out) heres some of my input. holster is totally up to the individual. i personally went back to an OWB pancake with my shield. i honestly wouldnt bother with the pearce grip extension.. i had it, and at the end of the day, i wanted more rounds than just comfort, so i bought more extended mags from smith. i can still stuff the gun in my pants pocket. my old mag with the pearce is somewhere in my range bag lol. the channel in the grip is for a couple of things.. both of which gaston glock has spoken on in past lectures when he was alive. the "void" as he called it was for sand and water to drain out of if being serviced in the field by the military. also a lanyard could be fixed into that area as well. i think later on they found they could strip mags with it. nothing is really gonna "get up in there" if you check and clean your gun periodically you'll be fine. As for that streamlight light.. save your money. 100 lumens is NOT enough to be effective in stopping an assailant coming at you. its just not.. my pocket carry light that uses one battery has almost 700 lumens. you're weapon mounted light isnt supposed to be used to scan a scene and look for anything.. its to light up a target, blinding the target and giving you an advantage.. you should NEVER use a weapon mounted light to survey an area. because if you come across an innocent person or a family member you're now pointing a loaded gun at them with a light on it, if its a stranger and depending on what state you're in, it could be classified as brandishing or even assault. always carry a separate flashlight if you're carrying a small shield. dont buy a 100 lumen night light and put it on the gun. while lately i've been wanting a gun with an optic, i held a shield recently with one and.. other than looks and ooh ahhh factor, theres (in my opinion only) no reason to have a red dot on a gun this small. ive been shooting long enough to know that i can hit anything i aim at within 7-14 yards lol. and thats where i see the shield coming into play as a close up SD weapon. im considering sending my 5 inch m&p 2.0 to Floyds custom and have them mill it for a red dot :) good video, i disagree about the light

I would also like to add that, although filing down the slide lock poses no real danger to the shooter, overtime not only will the slide lock not lock. But it very well may lock but it will be so sensitive that if you lay it down on the table at a shooting range the slide lock will release itself and the gun may fly forward into the shooting valley. A gun that I got from the pawn shop had this issue so I had to go in and rough up and square away the edges on the slide lock. If you want a good rule of thumb, do your research as a new shooter before making any kind of modifications to your gun. And if you concerned about something on your gun, chances are that's exactly how the manufacturer designed it

I notice a lot of the reasons you give for these upgrades is dirt and debris getting into places. I highly recommend everyone get a corded electronic air blower. I got mine on amazon for $30. Everyday when i get home i blow off my gun, mag, flashlight, knife and holster. My equipment stays clean and i work in very dirty environment daily.

Lol just get the new shield plus 4" comp...problem solved.

This seems great for feds but not too much use for civilians. Most holsters can hold a spare mag and you really should never need more then 2 mags.

I have never considered Neo Mag before, but you make it an attractive option. I'm heading to the Neo Mag site. It will be better than what I do now which is simply putting a spare mag in one of my cargo pockets loose.

Did you use a grease pencil on the slide?

The only thing I found out after leaving mags in heat the springs don't have the same tension so the slide dosent lock back after I stretched the spring out it did start locking back normal but I'm a little nervous too carry now.....wondering if anyone els has this issue....(2 mags my standard 10 round and my backup 15 rounder)

Thank you for posting an excellent review of the Shield + PC. I really like this firearm and until I watched your video it was at the top of my list for a first-time gun purchase. You can imagine my disappointment after hearing about the abysmal S&W customer support - which for me is a "show stopper." At this point I will probably buy one of the Sig P365s.

When I became intrigued into the gun hobby/ self defense I had a hard time understanding how guns in general worked/ even understanding calibers. As I wasn’t raised in a family that owned guns. I think it’s something many new comers can relate to. I remember some questions I had during my process. Ik there’s lots of videos out there that could answer these questions but even then I found it hard finding one that could thoroughly explain them. Bullet sizes can certain bullets sizes be used in pistol and rifles? Red dots how can I correctly aim/ zero my red dot Shotguns! The difference in shotgun ammo? What to do during a jam! Co witnesses sights on red dot? Just a few questions I remember having some may be simple and obvious to some but for new shooters Ik it could help them.
