    Thanks Isaac, after 2 years owning the Breville barista express, and being quite happy with the results, I watched your post yesterday, and have now correctly dialled in the machine. Great and simple info. I’ve watched numerous other posts on how to make a good coffee, but finally got the right info. I reset the machine to factory settings, dialled down the grind, and you beauty, great coffee today. Thank you.

    • @isaacpetrovansky4235
      @isaacpetrovansky4235 2 года назад

      Hey Danica, the best way to clean the wand is wiping it with a damp clean cloth after every use and this will clean off most if not all the milk if cleaned vigorously. Saying that a milk frother cleaning products are easy to find and best as they won't affect the flavour or operation of your machine. I use a brand called Cafetto but any brand can work.

    I don't understand why you are using volume and not weight (grams). Especially fresh coffee which can have a good number of crema. Plus what's your ratio, dose in / out. Very weird I have no idea how you can get a good extraction / taste, let alone if you need make modifications.

    • @isaacpetrovansky4235
      @isaacpetrovansky4235 2 года назад

      Hi Emil, The Breville Oracle and Oracle Touch reverse the volume and time in their default settings. This means you have a fixed time and variable volume based on flow rate through the coffee. So the finer the grind the lower the volume and the coarser the grind the more volume. The machines default in weight is 22 to 24 grams (this will change depending on setup). This machine gives you many settings to make modifications to the coffee. Also note machines are not all programmed by weight but can be easily. This is basic set up video and not an in-depth wall through.

    Hi. Do you find you need different grind settings for the Single and Double basket? I know the tamp recognises the different size but I’ve found using the same setting produces different results. Grind setting: 20 Single ~20ml < quite bitter, not nice coffee Double ~58ml Grind setting: 26 Single ~30ml < good flavours Double ~72ml < watery Should this happen? Or should the same grind produce the same result with both baskets?

    • @isaacpetrovansky4235
      @isaacpetrovansky4235 2 года назад

      Hey Liam, yes you will find that the grinder setting will need to be adjusted for each of the basket sizes. Most likely a higher number (coarser) for the single and a lower number (finer) for the double. As you have shown in your example it can make a significant difference in flavour. Thanks for your patients

    what happens if we dial it in for that double shot - same as you did, but then decide I'm only making 1 coffee for myself, and use the single basket do i have to totally adjust the grind? Or do the machine detect the single basket, and keep everything the same just grinds less coffee? Any help would be great

    • @XxCallOfDutyxXOPS
      @XxCallOfDutyxXOPS 2 года назад

      If you put in the single basket the grinder automatic gets it. It will just fill the single basket for 1 single shot and tamp it nicely for you :)

    The information given here is rather incomplete. Coffee should pour between 8 to 12 seconds from the start of the brewing process. From there it is more about the taste of the espresso than about hitting some perfect volume in the default timing. Grind size is only ONE variable here. Brewing temperature, brewing time and tamp dose (which is too much by default on breville/sage machines out of the box) are also big factors.

    • @isaacpetrovansky4235
      @isaacpetrovansky4235 3 года назад

      Hi Phillip, Thanks for the great comment. The information given is for a basic understanding of the machine. There are as you obviously know many variables in making a coffee. But those new to this machine or to that level of knowledge it can be overwhelming. In regards to the 8 to 12 seconds you are referring to that is a Breville or Sage guide but its just that and I would agree it will all come down to taste of the coffee. I will be making some more videos on advance knowledge but everything comes in steps and I will label as such from now on. Thanks again Isaac

    "It'll kick the handle out of the machine if you don't hold on" *He says while not holding onto it for even a second* I've never held it while it was grinding, it's never fallen out. Hey and my grind used to be perfect at around 17-18 but now it doesn't pour out enough at all. I have it on 27 currently and it looks fine, only problem is that the coffee is just BITTER and undrinkable without 3 sugars. What else can I do? Also the steam wand isn't texturing the milk properly, it's on and off working and not working. I do clean it after every use and it just decides by itself when it wants to work well hahahaha. Help

      @isaacpetrovansky4235 3 года назад

      Hey SydneyPhotography2019, Sorry for the late reply but thank you for the comment. In regards to the handle jumping out i was referring to the handle if you just let it go when it in the on position and under tension from the spring and believe me i have seen the handle spring out of the grinder in many occasions. Now in regards to your bitter taste that could be many things but mainly i find it will be one of 3 things; 1. The coffee grind in not right for the coffee you are using. 2. The coffee is not fresh and or not roasted well. 3. The machine needs a good clean. Seeing as you are commenting i believe you are cleaning it well. So i would say ether the coffee grind or the coffee may be the issue. If you would like further information send me a email at Bittersweetespresso@gmail.com and we can work it out Regards Isaac

      Hey Jozef, Great idea thank you. In the next 2 weeks I will make the video, until then the steps are below. Steps. Just insert the single basket. Run a shot. Look at the volume. If it above 30mls lower your grind. If it is below 30mls increase your grind. Test again. And repeat until your volume is correct. That will give you the best starting point for flavour then adjust to your taste. Kind Regards Isaac
