The way they handled the new capital gains increase was nothing short of a Ponzi scheme. They gave Canadians a two month window before actually implementing the increase in the capital gains tax. So in those two months Canadians were selling their assets. As a result millions of dollars in additional capital gains transactions were recorded in order to avoid paying the tax increase. A large increase in capital gains tax revenue in this fiscal year was recorded by the government. This revenue was stolen from future governments. It was purely a political move to keep the government's deficit at 40 billion dollars in this fiscal year

Agree, it's deeply disturbing to see an opposition MP intentionally posting misinformation like this, it's too obvious to be a mistake. The ironic twist, it lends credibility to Trudeau's idea of monitoring internet content for misinformation, which I think is a terrible waste of money, but here we are. I'm not a fan of the Trudeau government, and there are many people like myself who desperately want change. There's absolutely no reason at all to spread around false stories to try and gain support. Unfortunately, it seems that both sides in this mess are equally "wacko", and there's no one worth voting for, which is very depressing.

Higher taxation on successful entrepreneurs and investments, will only discourage risk taking and wealth generation, which will be a big loss for Canada. What is a Canadian dollar worth compared to a US dollar or Australian dollar? I am in Australia and cost of living is high but that tray of drumsticks would be about $15 Australian dolls and our dollar is about 68 cents of the US dollar.
The drumstick story is false, it was most likely a misprint and the person who made the video knew it, it was done to poke fun and attention at the high food prices that we really do have. I buy food from Costco, the drumsticks probably sell for about 10x less. Maybe in 10 more years, we'll see prices that high, but not yet. What is very concerning to me, is that a politician will spread around misinformation like this. It was so obviously not true, that it's either extreme incompetence, or was wilfully included on purpose.
@@geekinasuit8333 Thank you it seemed insane they are about $5-$7 dollars a kilo in Australia. I would say that most items are minimum 50% more expensive in Australia since 2020.
@@privateAcc0unt It's refreshing to hear from someone with a critical eye. I hope your political + economic situation is no worse than it is here in Canada. The reality is, it's not that bad, life has been very good for me, and the area where I live outside Vancouver, most people getting along quite well. The story is different for young folks starting out, especially for people looking to buy a home, it's become a major expense even for very high income earners. Toronto and Vancouver are really expensive. The taxation situation is also getting out of hand, it's comically over complicated (we even have an "alternative tax" on the tax), and it discriminates heavily against those who succeed much more than on anyone else, which has the effect of discouraging investments into the economy. I've considered leaving for the USA, except that place has its own set of major issues. As a Canadian, my main interest is to get tax reform in place, and get the overspending on worthless investments rolled back and redirected towards much more useful investments in infrastructure. Sadly, there are "wackos" across the board here, none of the parties are any good, and voting remains a "lesser evil" choice.
