    4:02 would the fabric not get clogged up just like the rock? All it’s doing is filtering but that means the fine silt is clogging up the fabric ?? No 🤔

  • @ErossaanBooming

    quesetion and I might be wrong here. what will happen long term when the soil gets pushed against that fabric over the years? will it end up clogging the "wholes" in the fabric?

  • @UNTrumpet
    @UNTrumpet Месяц назад

    Thanks, but I'll take the guidance of civil engineers that have literally stated in print, in FEMA status reports that: "Because geotextiles are prone to installation damage and have a potential for clogging, their reliability remains uncertain." "It's the policy of the National Dam Safety Review Board that geotextiles should not be used in locations that are critical to the safety of the dam." So all that orange you see flooding through your precious fabric is precisely what will eventually clog it, just like it clogs the stone. The absolute best practice that will essentially last forever, is a dual-layered filtration substrate.

    Really you “do” want you lawn or yard to soak into your ground. You just don’t want it on be up against or even in your foundation or basement. Too many people try to get rid of the rain and then turn around and install irrigation. Huge waste. 😂

  • @melmartinez7002

    This is simply not a very useful comparison test. Why not use a measured amount of water poured on top and catch and measure how much goes through in a specific amount of time? You say that putting something on top of the landscape fabric will stop it from working. How about actually doing so (on ALL the fabrics) to actually prove your assertion? I got very little useful information from this video other than that, when stretched out in mid air and with water flowing from a hose on them, ALL the fabrics drained.

    im thinking about using the NDS ez drain pipe it has the pipe wrapped and poly rocks wrapped around it already but im curious if i should use another layer of fabric on the bottom then lay the pipe down or is the fabic that comes around the pipe good enough? my soil is dirt on top about 10 inches down then i have clay .

  • @kpbattlesword6062
    @kpbattlesword6062 6 месяцев назад

    For a retaining wall, would you not place the fabric down first then place the stone, then pipe, then more stone all the way up until the last foot or so of a wall with the fabric fully wrapping the stone from the bottom all the way up? I have clay and also see very different ideas on how deep the drain should be. above the footer, or at the first level of block below the wall grade?

    The first one with no fabric removed the water the fastest though. The others took longer with the exception of the water that went straight into the surface drain. It was dirty water but the water escaped way faster! I like my problem water moved fast.

    I would suspect that a system with fabric will become less and less effective over time as the fabric becomes clogged. Maybe an optimum system would be no fabric, and gravel in the trench all the way to the surface. If you don't mind gravel at the surface.
