If I find more good clips of the actors in different roles, I might animate some more owl house stuff in the future. But there's for sure gonna be more animation on this channel, just in general.

@@lighght_7888 4-6 months. I began to loosely plan the portfolio late in the summer but I think I drew my first finished pieces late into October. The deadline was in March and it took me at least 5 or 6 failed drawings before I made anything good enough to end up in the final portfolio.

@@Crimson_Studios_So the entire process combined took about 7-8 full days of work spread across about a month of summer vacation. I wasn't working very efficiently in the beginning but my process got more structured as I went. Aside from actual animation, I spent time choosing between different direction/staging/acting choices and studying model sheets. (I couldn't find one for Lilith so trying to get her to look right ate up a lot of time) I might make a video breaking down my process if that seems interesting to people

@@Crimson_Studios_Thanks, and sure, if that's something that you want to do! On the condition that you credit me for the rough animation if you end up posting it anywhere. If it's any help, the charts on the left indicate spacing and for me they worked as a hierarchy for the order that I clean my frames in. As in keys first (the circled frames) then breakdowns (underlined frames) that are as close to the halway point of the surrounding keys as possible, and then inbetweens which are also marked in relation to the spacing. Approach it however you wish, but I thought I'd just explain my intention with those. When there's this many frames the process can get a bit daunting and this method has previously worked for me.

@@MihkaMantynen currently have 37 frames done, or at least the line art. The background is gonna be abit of a strugle but ill figure it out. Got the free month of toonboom harmony just for this. Still trying to figure everything out but ill manage.

@@OllieDust ayy, thanks! I had hoped it could also be a bit insightful. At our school we're usually required to atleast tie down our key frames and breakdowns. This video starts at a point where I've already tied down most of my keys so the process after that is fairly straightforward.

Thanks, glad to hear it! From what I've heard, it is possible. The school recommends against it though since it's double the work and can be a sign of indecisiveness. But if I recall correctly, a current year CG student told us that they got accepted for both CG and CA and ended up choosing CG. I would email the school about it to figure out the logistics.

@@MihkaMantynen Thank you so much! I had another question: if I were to be admitted to one of the courses (CA/CGA) could I later change it? like for example if i'm admitted to CA, can I change and go to CGA?

@@ender4056It's possible to switch but I'm pretty sure you'd have to go through the application process again. Even if you had a previously accepted CGA-portfolio, you would most likely have to re-submit it and be evaluated alongside the new applicants.

It might not directly count as plagiarism, but I would advise against it. In this case I would try to look for live action footage of people climbing rocks instead. Animated movements are a good study in how to simplify something, but they often tend to have mistakes as well. (for example, our teacher this year showed us how almost every animated bird flies incorrectly) Real life should always be the first you reference for body mechanics.

My portfolio was made for the 2023 class, but the people who apply this year are expected to enroll in September 2024. The deadline for this year's applicants is March 15th 2024. No worries! I used a google slides template that I found on the TAW applicant discord to compile my portfolio, so the way I signed mine was by dragging a picture of my signature into the program. I don't know which template you are using, but as long as you can get your signature on the page, it doesn't matter which program you do it in.

Thanks a bunch! For our admission test, we didn't actually have a group assignment, and from what I remember, the last couple years of applicants didn't have it either. It might be coming back next year though, as the school is experiencing a lot of changes. The best place to stay up-to-date on this is probably the TAW applicant discord: discord.com/invite/9D5yMrZsXM As for the individual test it was online and we were given 4 hours to complete it. We had to make a storyboard based on a prompt they gave us, and then design a character based off of that storyboard and draw them showcasing 3 specific emotions. Hope that helps!
