I was at the front seat watching Elite Force's performance in Tokyo and Osaka 1994. By around 1992, Henry was already famous in the Japanese street dance community. We didn’t have the internet yet, but we regularly received videos featuring dancers from the U.S., including music videos, live show footage from programs like Soul Train, Yo! MTV Raps, and Party Machine. We would study the dancers in those videos, even though they only showed dancing for a few seconds at a time, watching frame by frame and rewinding repeatedly. This is how Japanese dancers had been learning street dance since the breakdancing era of the 1980s. As for hip-hop dance, starting with the New Jack Swing boom led by Bobby Brown and MC Hammer, we initially paid more attention to West Coast dancers, like the Soul Brothers (Def Jef’s dancers), The Scheme Team, and members of Pharcyde before they became Pharcyde. However, when the music video for Lalah Hathaway’s "Baby, Don't Cry," featuring the Mop Top crews, came out, we began focusing on New York dancers, and Henry’s popularity grew. I remember the music video and live performance of Mariah Carey’s "Emotions" being popular and adding to his fame, but PBS’s Alive TV episode Wreckin' Shop from Brooklyn had the biggest impact. Many Japanese dancers began traveling to NYC to go to clubs, watched the dancers, and sometimes secretly videotaped them to learn. They also took private lessons directly from New York dancers. In 1992, the Japanese hip-hop-influenced group ZOO featured several New York dancers, including Henry, in their music video. These were some of the reasons why Henry, along with other dancers like Stretch, Loose Joint, Caleaf, Peter Paul, Ejoe, Peek A Boo, Marquest, Rubberband, Brian Green, Voo Doo Ray and Marjory (RIP) and others, became famous in the Japanese street dance community in the early 90s.

The story behind Remember the Time shoot and meeting with Yasuko calling to Machine Harada was so interesting. Link is such a good storyteller. A Great job!

ooh also insurance... yes thank you for stating that too. i know they are in tricky positions some of them. but thats still no excuse in the session to let that play out without being transparent esp. if client gives feedbback in the moment. know how to be in that discomfort and its okay to say it i think. imo. but thats my approach from a non clinical lens and not bound by such strict regulated professional boundaries. id rather have a conversation about how you think i should be able to fill out my forms because i can drive to my appointment some of the time (example of course) rather than you try to find little ways to push me to do something ive said i cant do. in the process this denies the real fact that i have a medical illness that if pushed through, only worsens symptoms. some say that i just need to get outside moree and go for walks. nope. wrong. rest. comfort. joy. so that usually leaves me pretty hostile by the end of the session. since its actually doctors orders that i have to ignore to do these things such as fill out forms and attend appointments . research studies require them to disclose any conflicts of interest. i think any and all proviiders in a position of power that can and does cause very real harm, should have to disclose certain things, im not sure what that would look like but i think there could be an adjustment in disclosure to the client. because trauma x 3 now in 11 months and now where do i go? (im not actually asking you) trying to resist the very intesnse urge to sink into shame and apologize for my long ass comments. and also its so so important to get the experiences that tend to be missed (such as mine). t

a thought/question: sharing openly and vulnerability is not me trusting anyone. its me reacting from a place of survival and a deep deep need for unconditional postive regard. counselling does not provide that. it cant. only friends and family truly have the potential to offer that. but what if those arent available either. i need to be interupted, slowed down, guided to safety, postiive role modelling of rest and attunment and transparency. and authenticity. i need a child like gentle slow kind approach while having to deal with me pushing uup against that all the time wanting to rush, being frustrated angry. i never have anyone whoo fights for me. nver shown to treat myself well, not protected, left to her own devices. "lets talk about it" maybe could be "lets explore how you can find other ways to express this" or i dont know i want to talk but it never never meets the need. i really appreciated what you said about strenghts based - including substance use and also indigenous culture. i dont know how to make safe choices for myself because never shown. no space to. affirmations such as "i am worthy" often need many break downs for me to even get past the NOPE ( the affirmation i can manage saying right now is "i am me" since i cant refute that lol) emphasis on neutrality towards one self if positive is too far a jump has seemed a bit more do able for me. ---------- TLDR; caution with "lets talk about it" and/or when positive feedback is being given/offered since highlighting a misalignment with what the individual believes to be true or not for themselves can be a big issue/result in trauma. and speaking words is not always a sign of trust, sometimes its a sign of trauma/compensatory response.

Not to be offensive but you seemed to have some difficulties building a proper connection and conversation flow. A lot of the questions were quite complex in terms of context and you also speak very quickly. It seems like MT didn't understand some of the questions properly therefore his answer was a little different to the original answer. Also you look kind of annoyed everytime you talk.
