Lampworking / Flameworking - 102.21 - Royal Cross Pull - 104 Glass Demo
Просмотров 91321 день назад
Hello my Friends! 💫🌹 This is a fun little technique to learn…pulling dots into different shapes. I call this particular pattern the Royal Cross. I just think it looks so regal and fancy! 😂🌟 Keep in mind that when I’m pulling on the glass my flame can look bigger because I’m using a larger torch…It’s the Hellcat from Carlisle Machine Works. If you have a smaller or different type of torch, adjus...

Hello out there! 🤗🌹 Today I want to share a fun Off Mandrel technique…. The Double Fold Marble. This is a great way to explore different color combinations and practice heat your control. Harbor Freight - Atlas 80V Cordless Mower Review

So, my 22 years old Briggs and Stratton gas mower was no longer safe to operate. The deck had rusted to the point that I thought the motor would vibrate itself off of it. My buddy Mike had just bought a new battery operated mower. I jumped on the internet to see what they were going for and the third one was a mower from Harbor Freight. I I had just bought a battery a couple of weeks before bec...

    Maam, you're very talented. You have a great eye for detail and you've got a broad range of techniques in your arsenal. Take my advice...Go borosilicate and "push the bowl." The pipemakers are the cutting edge of glass art and are even being featured now in such prestigious environs as The Corning Museum. With your skills, I have no doubt that pipemaking could satisfy you as an artist while making you a pretty penny while you're at it. I've seen some pieces go for tens of thousands of dollars. Think about it. 👍

      Hi Rudy! 💫😁 Thank you so much for that wonderful message! I work in the Boro glass from time to time….mainly for ornaments. It’s truly an amazing material…I always bow down to the Boro-masters! 😅 Unfortunately, at this point in my life I have a full time job that has nothing to do with glass…(I’m a weekend and evening flameworker) and can really only afford to work in soft glass. It’s so much more affordable for me…especially the oxygen consumption! But you never know….perhaps I’ll dive into it more in the future! 🌈🌹 Thanks again for your kind words of encouragement and advice…it means more to me than you know! 🙏🏽✨ Cheers to you - Robin🌹✨💫

    I have never tried the Hades, but I’ve gotten webbing with Effetre Intense Black used the same way - thin stringers on Dark Ivory then cooked a bit. It has been a few years since I have done much Lampworking with 104. Watching your demos is getting me back into it. So much fun! 😁

    What amazing expensively and beautiful rose buds/flowers you have made out of glass Robin. The way your mind works is truly amazing and how you get your ideas from your mind to the mandrel is brilliant to watch. I do not know how many will understand this but to make these piece in basically what is two different types gold glasses is bold but I also think an outstanding risk for gorgeous rewards for these two fabulous pieces of flowered glass artwork. You have honest god brilliant talent on the torch Robin and are an amazing artist. Enough of the flattery now lol. How are you darling and how’s Patrick? Say hi to Patrick for me please. I hope you have been well and your pain levels have been manageable, the same with Patrick. How’s the heat where you are? Hi Robin -- long time no talk. I'm hoping you can give me some guidance regarding mandrel racks for the Chili Pepper. Can you tell me how it sits? I understand the base ad the front and back with the holes. What I'm not sure about is do you actually put the whole rack into the kiln with the door closed with just the ends of the mandrels sticking out? Is the door slightly open? How do you place mandrels that you have center dipped? So many questions! Hope you are well and that your Summer is going well. Seems to have flown by! I haven't been in my studio for a few weeks. I'm looking forward to getting back to it! Cheers.

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch 9 дней назад

      Hello Derweasel! 🤗🌹 Great to hear from you! So…I do not have a bead rack in my Chilipepper. I just have some short kiln shelf pieces lining the back of my annealer so I can rest the mandrel on it so my glass doesn’t touch the bottom. My mandrels do stick out under the door about 3 inches or so.✨✨ I tried to look up the bead rack but couldn’t find it…I am assuming that it goes in the oven and that your mandrels will also stick out of the door. It’s ok if the door is slightly open too. The rack sounds interesting! If you can please send a link! 🤗✨ Have fun in your studio!! Thanks so much and hope you are doing well!! Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌈💫💫💫

      @scottwoodresearch 15 дней назад

      Hello Mirela! ✨🌹 I’m so glad to hear that you have been enjoying the demos and that they have been helpful! 🤗 My favorite bead release is Foster Fire Smooth and Tuff bead release…you can get it from Frantz Art Glass online. It is by far the best I have found! But it can still crack if your mixture is too thin. 💫 About not melting the mandrel…. It depends on what it is made of. The only reason a mandrel would melt is from being too hot. A smaller flame and less heat on the wire can help. I hope this helps!! 🌹✨🌹Thanks so much for reaching out! ✨✨✨Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌈🤗

      @@scottwoodresearch good to know! I have a trusty echo 2 cycle that is a little beast. But I would like a battery option for quick trims around the house. I'm debating on the Bauer or Atlas offering. I've had nothing but good results with all of my Bauer power tools.

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch 21 день назад

      @Sooflojoe so. My buddy across the street from me has the Bauer. After seeing what the Atlas can do he wishes he had gotten the Atlas. The bonus is that the battery works with the Mower, 16 & 18 inch chainsaw and blower. And my buddy wised he had seen that Harbor Freight offered a lawn mower or he would have gone with the Atlas.

      I love mine. I just used the 40V chainsaw (came free with the purchase of the 80/40 volt battery). It works great and it will do 99% of what I will need one for. I’ll be posting a review of that this weekend. Cheers!

      Hello Spring! 🤗✨ I’m so glad that watching this video has helped you out with dot placement…It’s not an easy thing to do and is something all flameworkers practice continuously! 💫 It takes lots of time, dedication and most of all, patience to get comfortable with the glass as I’m sure you know! I’m so excited for your glass journey! 😍🌹🌹 I am here for you if you need help….anytime! An interview sounds fun! 💫✨ Thanks so much for sharing and reaching out my friend! Cheers- Robin 🙏🏽🌈✨✨

    Hi Robin, I hope both you and Patrick are ok. I also hope it’s not too hot where you are and it’s comfortable to work down in the dungeon on your torch. Are both you and Patrick both keeping yourselves busy with things you both like/love doing. How was your long 4th of July weekend, did you partake in the celebrations that were going on across America?. I love this bead by the way. It’s a type of bead I’ve thought of doing, but not done. I had a slight different thoughts on it. But the way you have done it is truly stunning. I love the way the dots look really raised even tho you flatten them and melted them in. Also using glass to rake is a brilliant idea I would have used a pick instead but that’s me but you have many more years of experience with glass than me. But I so truly love this bead and watching you work, I wish I could watch you work at proper speed. Have you ever thought of doing lives and making beads on camera while talking to people with people sending messages and you just talking to them on mic and answer their questions? I’m sure so many people would watch, I know I would. You could duel stream on here and Kick. Think about it my friend. Say hi to Patrick for me please. Stay safe and look after yourself ❤️ 🌹

      Hi Kelly! 🌹👋🏽 Glad you enjoyed this one! I have never been good using the pick to rake with…I have much better luck with the glass. It’s been very humid and warm here….yuck! I love cool weather and can’t wait for autumn! We had a good 4th of July weekend…I was trying to flamework but the mandrel kept slipped in my sweaty hands. Today is not as bad so I hope to play around a bit this evening. So far nothing to share for this weekend 😞. I have thought about doing live demos but it get anxiety just thinking about it. Maybe at some point I’ll give it a try….we’ll see. 😂 I think I will put some demos out on regular speed though…a few others have asked about it as well. I like to speed them up because most people have short attention span and cannot even get through five minutes of a demo….we see it in the analytics. But that aside…I will make some in real time!✨ Hoping all is well with you and you’re having a good week. ✨✨✨ Patrick says hello! 🤗 Cheers my friend - Robin🌈💫🌹🌹🌹

    What a lovely marble! I will give it a try! I do have a question about the metal punty. I’ve only used glass punties. So you pull the metal out and there’s a glob of glass on it. How do you get that glass off? Do you stick it in water or just let it cool on its own?

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch Месяц назад

      Hi Lisa! ✨🌹 Thanks so much! You will enjoy playing with this technique! 🤗 when I am finished with a punty, I usually put it in water to cool and break the glass off. However, it can be stubborn and sometimes I have to take a pliers and crunch off the glass …or carefully reheat it and dip it back in water. (Basically whatever it takes!😅). I hope you try the metal punty….it was a game changer for me! ✨✨✨Cheers and happy flameworking- Robin 🌈👋🏽💫
