So happy to see you let those big bream go at the end of the video, very old fish & important for breeding, congratulations for that, congratulations for your fishing skills & for teaching others
@@jejona6989 Thanks mate. Catch and release for us, too good to catch just once 👍
@@fishonbaby Awesome work. My father caught a 20 inch bream in lake tyres 40 years ago, told the story many times before he passed away. We didn't have your skills, but a great place to fish
@@jejona6989 Awesome, that's the joy of fishing. Making the memories that last a lifetime and beyond. I have plenty of days with no or not many fish bud, they make the good days even better.
You’ve been fishing at the zoo, as they were absolutely ‘donkeys’! Well done Dan.🎣🎣🎣
@@ianjonfisho 🤣 Thanks mate
Great vid. I have found that everything from whiting to Jew just love em. Noticed with th the standard weighted jig head that if I immediately take up the casting slack the bait glides to the bottom rather than a free spool plummet and a heavier jig head gives a nice puff of sand when it reaches the bottom, this style appears irresistible to whiting. Prefer your worm hook presentation for bream though.
@@PatByrne-q3s Thanks mate, yeah nice. Thanks for the feedback Pat 👍
Great vid, I enjoyed that, thanks. Very interesting to see the different falls in the various presentations. 👍
@@davidagius4753 Thanks David 👍
Awesome video ... where do you buy the 1/0 g lock hook from , have troubles locating a buyer
Thanks mate, if you Google Gamakatsu 1/0 G lock some stores should pop up with stock. I think I got them from Tackle Warehouse.
@@fishonbaby, thanks ... found some cheers
@fishonbaby , any chance on showing us how to apply the weight to the worm hook ... is it melted on , do you use a mold , or is it wrapped on ... a video on this would be sensational
Yeah, I will do a video soon mate. I have been playing around a lot lately weighting them. When I find a perfect technique I will do a video.
This is absolutely amazing. Can you please let us know the time of year?
@@Angler233 Thanks, it was August this year mate
The worm hook with weight looks awesome 👌🏽
Yeah mate, presentation is on point. Great for weed/snag fishing 👌
Another awesome video Dan. Ur safety one was amazing mate I do my life jackets every year but didnt do a check of everything else. I do now after watching that video
@@MegaSkeet11 Thanks mate, Cheers for your support and feedback 👍
Thank you for making this video it is excellent comprehensive and compelling. Certainly made me look at my gear with different eyes and understanding. I hope you are OK after the incident itself. Not only the incident itself but the self realisation can and will get to a person. Really well put together congratulations and good on ya! for your effort 100%!

Very informative. I used the bloodworm this morning, caught a few small flatties and two low 40's silver trevs. Pretty stocked. They have been working really well the past month or so ive been using them. Cheers, Pete.

Hey mate what brand weights to do use on those worm hooks, I think you mentioned you did it yourself. Nice fish by the way 👏
@@nathansmith6059 Thanks mate, I use Gamakatsu G-lock 1/0 hooks and weight them myself mate.
@fishonbaby thanks mate. What lead do you use? It's hard to find weighted worm hooks in finesse sizes, I've found- I understand why you make your own!
You can buy small strips of lead on eBay. Wrap.ot around the shank of the hook. Use some metal glue to prevent it moving.
@@fishonbaby good idea. Thanks mate.
@@nathansmith6059 No worries, cheers bud
Amazing session on the perch mate 👌🏽 congrats on the PB, I'd hate to be a Prawn in that system haha. Are the Daiwa prawns now your favourite prawn style plastic?
@@johnathonLawrence Thanks mate. I still love a clone prawn but the durability of them annoys me. The Daiwa last and catch fish but I will have to test them side by side I think
@fishonbaby I will have to try the daiwa prawns as well... have you tested in clear water how they fall through the water? I would be very interested if they stayed upright and drifted down naturally as sometime the Clone Prawns tend to roll
@@johnathonLawrence Yeah mate, with the EWG weighted jig heads they sink horizontally which is awesome. The segmented tail makes the tail fan out when sinking and it has a lot of action while twitching. I think with a HWS they should sink horizontally too, I need to test them some more though.
You saved my Uncle. Thankyou so much.
@@PatBerlingeri Hi Pat, can you reach out on social media? Fish Onn Facebook and DM me. I would love to know how they are doing. Cheers Dan
I'll add to the importance of the whistle here. I with a couple of mates came up from a dive a decade ago, to no boat ... so we floated for a while before being found cracking terrible jokes. We suffered from our pants being too big and being highly experienced. Thus thought we were better prepared than we actually were. Apart from going through all my dive gear bit by bit and buying better gear .. not the most expensive gear .. The Whistle .. god it is important. The whistle can be heard from a lot further away than your voice, and easier to use when you are totally exhausted. I was the only person in the group with a whistle .. and it was heard ... but then I dropped it. We were all close to being out of air at the end of the dive, so none of us wanted to use our last air to go after the whistle. I suggest tying it to yourself or the life vest, don't expect the boat owner to do so, take responsibility for your own safety. When I go fishing in a boat, I take my own life vest even. I even carry water and a safety sausage, one that seals and won't deflate.
@@gavingi5875 I agree mate, the whistle is tied to the life jackets I have on my boat and they float I believe. I'm glad you and your mate are all good bud, I bet it got pretty scary for a while back there. Thanks for your comment and input mate 👍
Guys in new zealand have small epirbs clipped on their jackets on youtube called the lateral line..ive always asked for jacket setups like that. Epirb flare and flashing beacon or torch.
@@tiller_gorilla7220 Yeah, I will carry mine for sure. It would be great to have a light weight full setup on vest
Excellent job mate, great advice and well presented - I hope the message gets through cheers for the upload !!!!
@@warrensimpson9541 Thanks Warren 👍
Great psa Dan, hope you're doing good. Unfortunately the amount of guys i see out in the ocean ripping along without pfds on is concerning
Thanks Sash. I hope you are doing well mate. It is concerning that's for sure, it can be a very dangerous place and not worth the risk IMO
Excellent presentation.Hopefully a lot more people take this onboard including my self, i am off to buy a PLB today
@@peterdoyle6283 Thanks Peter, if it stops one incident happening or helps save a life it's well worth it mate. Cheers 👍
Great video mate. And timely as many prepare to hit the water over the coming months. I unfortunately flipped the Hobie last year and lost quite a lot of gear. Was lucky a boat was near by to assist and tow the sinking yak 6km back to the ramp. I always carry a PLB in the life jacket but that one incident made me revisit all the ways I can improve my safety on the water. Like you mention, no point having the stuff if you can’t get to it in an emergency. Now I keep car keys, phone etc. in a separate, water proof bag that I can grab easily. Also made me appreciate how important it is to maintain your life jacket. Very important video.
@@travismayne5317 Thanks Trav, it's pretty scary, it happens so fast really and a good idea to plan ahead and think of scenarios that may occur so you are more prepared. Where do you carry the PLB in the jacket? How is it attached? I was thinking of wearing a light waterproof bum bag with the PLB and a flare in it.
I have the ACR ResQ Link 400. My marlin PFD has a left hand zip so the unit is clipped via a carabiner inside that.
@@travismayne5317 Okay cool, Cheers mate I will figure out the best way to carry it on person

Hi. Love watching these videos. Why can’t you tell where you are fishing?
@@garyjagoe9541 Thanks Gary. Because then the small systems become over crowded and the special places we find through effort are over fished and become less special. There is plenty of awesome fishing all over East Gippsland so giving a location is irrelevant really.

Revisiting some of you vids as I’m not getting much fishing time ATM. Really, really good vids mate. Out of curiosity, any reason why you and Pistol didn’t try some surface first thing over the weed beds? Look perfect for it but just curious. I know this is an older video but still a great one.
Thanks Trav. We didn't do a lot of surface fishing to be honest. I only really fished surface the past 2 years. There will be plenty this spring, summer and autumn though. It's the best way to fish for sure
Yeh. Nothing beats a surface boof! Agree it’s one of the best forms of fishing.
That was a fun video to watch, that area has been on fire glad you were able to pin and land a few 💜🎣

Great Vlog as usual mate 👌👊 did you guys fish with locked drags? Didn’t hear a single drag scream .
Thanks mate, yeah locked drag, way too much timber down there to give them any.

Just as magnificent as usual. Given that you are now venturing into Gippy Lakes proper, you may investigate a feed of King George Whiting - or even Kingfish which have recently been seen more and more in the system. That said, I will never get tired of seeing those wonderful Estuary Perch, Bream and Flathead. 🙂

Hi mate, yeah hopefully get a few more vids up soon bud. Pistol is a legend 😁
That’s awesome fishing ! Great video , what weedless jig heads were you using on the clone prawns ? Also were they the 62mm clone prawns or 92mm ?

Thanks for sharing that ! How do you add weight to your worm hooks ?
Melting down ball sinkers, adding the weight required.
So many great tips in one video. I’m new to this type of fishing and hopefully this will help me catch something one day! Thank you.
