Yes, polearms are very effective, but without shields, they can become easy targets for missiles. Personally, I prefer spearmen for the frontline.

Spear/polearm wall similar to Shogun 2 Yari Wall mechanic is not exist in this game but Shielded Spearmen as an anvil while Crossbow will take the shot and the Polearms will going to flank at the rear to block the opposing’s escape @@TheosMTe-N.

I like how that sounds, I’ve played a lot of Shogun 2, so I get what you mean. I’ll definitely try using polearms on the flanks in Manor Lords like you suggested. I know the AI will likely avoid engaging directly with polearm units because of the high damage they can take. I appreciate the suggestion, and I might even make a short video about it. I’m from the Philippines and Romania has a good history with “The Dragon”(Dracula). He is great during the Medieval Age. Also the Computer AI will sometimes have bad balls to do a bit of bad honor in the game. Back up and contingency plans early on will save your precious needs.

I’m glad to hear that good sir, I’m from Romania! Regarding polearms, the AI in the game doesn’t attack them directly. For example, if you have a unit of sidearms, one of spearmen, and one of polearms, most of the time it will go after the sidearms unit. In direct confrontation with polearms, the AI will often attack around the middle, trying to flank the soldiers. This happens strictly because of the high damage that polearms can deal when in formation.

It's quite hard to give up on a project that started in 2016 (and the results, in my opinion, are completely wow) even for a poorly optimized game like Attila and to start redoing all the work of 6 years when Warhammer 3 came out (2022, if I remember correctly).

Because warhammer sucks and they are real total war modders, I guess it sucks for you 🤣
