How I Gained Inches Of Vertical Apart From Training
THIS IS FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE I AM NOT PROMOTING DIETING CULTURE
Simply what worked for me and is a product of basic physics. Regardless take everything I say with a grain of salt.

5'8" Dunk Journey: Bounce Leveling Up
Yes sir! Weight loss was huge for me too, for me it was just smaller portions and less junk. Dang the Michael Barrins clip what a throw back, I wonder if he still jumps?
Michael barrins the OG fr, hopefully hes still putting in work
lets goooo
🙏
you cant touch a 10 foot rim with that tiny vertical and say you are 5'8
5'7" without shoes actually, and I have posts of me touching 10' at will at pretty much any indoor or outdoor court I've been to. If you don't believe I have a 30" or more (which isn't a lot anyway) use the flight time in the video and calculate my vert using kinematics equations👍
What exercises do you do to jump higher?
Lot of jumping is paramount, + I improve the explosive capabilities of my triple extensors (quads hips calves) through surfing the force velocity curve and going from general exercises to specific in the weight room. As for actual exercises, there is usually always some sort of squatting, olympic lifting, hinging, and calf extension work on my high intensity days, but they vary vastly in intensities, volumes, and specificities throughout the year. I also sprint a lot which can be tailored to get some really good quality adaptations.
tbh i think im going through my dunking depression rn. about a month and a bit ago i dunked my first small soccer ball, since then ive tried only a couple more times. now i havent been doing dunk attempts or even rim grabbing in so long, its like i dont believe that i can touch/grab the rim anymore. (btw the rim im talking about is 9'6)
I assume that you are lifting and not solely jumping because that would be low hanging fruit. To keep maximizing your genetic potential and progressing over time, you have to make sure you are periodizing your training and following training laws. To avoid plateaus, you should be changing your exercise complex from month to month to avoid diminishing returns, and over your whole year of training you should go from general work to build qualities necessary for jumping, and THEN transfer to specific work. You should be getting better from year to year, and if you are not then there is probably something wrong with your training. You can't look at your vertical from week to week because gains are made over months of stringing together consistently good training, and it is often unpredictable when you are gonna jump your highest (although that is why periodization works you plan when you want to peak). Overall, as long as you are periodizing your training and following basic training laws, keep going and look at the bigger picture in your dunking journey
Bro said “fetus grazer” 🤣 that’s a good one. Basically already back at a 9’ 8” dunk, good stuff!
Sometimes when I do these voiceovers I just start yapping😂 thanks though crazy to say race to 10'0" is happening
@@tommyprogress then eventually it’ll be race to a 2 hander on 10’
You should try 10’0ft
Bet
good job bro
why not just grow taller then its easier to dunk
Hahaha I grew 0.5" since I started this journey years ago, I'll take anything I can get😂
@@tommyprogress i was being sarcastic
Bro I am 6'2 and its hard for me to to dunk. I don, t get how you dunk while being 6 inches below my height
Thanks man! Rn the GOAT of dunking (isaiah) is 6'2", keep training hard for 10 years and I better see you take the throne😂🙏
whats your max vert rn
On my best one foot jumps 32+
Yeah I get that feeling with sessions I post sometimes, but I remember it's just something to look back on.
Facts gotta look at the big picture
Bro supracompensated from track
Lmao like that one guy on ur team
@@tommyprogress oh yeah the guy on jumps I never thought about that
Nice
Looking good. Any chance you know the model and make of the hoop?
I think its a Goalrilla but I'm not exactly sure what model it is
9’ 8” is there, 9’ 6” looking a lot easier than last time!
Yessir!
Fire bro
Thanks bro
9’ 6” will go down next time it’s right there. Really solid for how detrained you are! What are you weighing these days?
Yessir its coming next session😮💨weighing around 174 which is down from my peak of 186-189, so no shock that my one foot is back. Might make a video on my experience with body fat and jumping
@@tommyprogress I think that would be a good video idea, I definitely saw a huge difference for myself. Sounds like your relative strength didn’t drop too much then!
@@domidunks yeah good point, and facts youre flying now
He's baaaackkk!
Yessir🔥
I’m tuned in 😤
Saw you flying on 9'11" and said I need to get in on this😂
its good to see another person around my height on a dunk journey (im 5'9"). Yesterday i got my first soccer ball dunk on 9'6". Keep up the good work and hopefully you end up dunking 10ft by the end of the 90 days!
Congrats on the 9'6" dunk bro! We got this💪
@@tommyprogress thanks brodie! i just got news from a big dunker at my school that i only need 3-4 inches over the rim to dunk, so when its sunny and im feeling good, ima ask him to toss me a lob.
@@dartmantralala2656 thats dope man good luck
That’s a grab lol, stiff rim’s are tough to pull down!
Ikr this things a triple rim💀
You did not grab it buddy
Got my fingertips above rim slowed down, ig i didnt fully grab it tho
