John Day airport; a buggy windshield dash-cam video!
The city of John Day is pretty significant to me because it is the nearest city to me that has a traffic light, albeit only one! And it's only 60 miles away if I take a route over the mountains! I've never flown into there, but I've flown out thanks to Life Flight! The runway could be compared to Catalina's inasmuch as there are no landing obstacles. There are three roads leading up to the airport from different places in the city.

Lake Wolhford 1966. Botched landing ends old friendship.
Просмотров 362 месяца назад
Old flying buddy Dan Brennan (RIP) was trying to make his first landing at Lake Wohlford with me in the backseat of his Cub. His approach was way too high but he made no effort to abort; so I did it for him by setting my camera down, and pushing the throttle forward. His 3rd attempt was worse than the 1st one so he blew up, and yelled or me to make the landing! He said "there's a broken broom s...
Volunteers trim our driveway trees
Просмотров 334 месяца назад
Judy has been attending fire meetings, and it came about that it is our place that needs tending to. So, a volunteer group of local friends got together, and formed a tree cutting group. the driveway is 1/2 mile long, but it only took 4 hours to clear away all of the dangerous trees, and burn them.
Wire Connector Crimper
Просмотров 137 месяцев назад
I've made a new product that I'd like to pass along to you DIY'ers. I recently had to do some rewiring on an old Jeep I bought, and found that with my age and arthritis, that I was having difficulty in using the old hand-held connector crimper as I did in the "old days"! I managed to struggle through and get the job done, but then had an idea. I had bought my wife a cordless pruning shear that ...

The Bomber Restaurant, Portland Oregon

This Vid was taken at the 2013 annual car show at the BOMBER Restaurant on Mcloughlin blvd. In 1990 I had the distinct pleasure to personally meet the owner and pilot of the airplane, along with his personal story about how he went about getting the war surplus aircraft. A most interesting story!
Replacing the back-up bulb 1997 Cadillac SLS

Again, another mystery to me as to how to access the tail light assembly housed in the trunk lid of my 1997 Cadillac SLS. So maybe this will be a hint to the next guy who has one of these old classics? The Vid is obviously after the disassembly, but the hints are there, and after opening it up it is work as usual. Unfortunately the LED bulbs I ordered for my Ford that ddn't fit were a totally d...

The Over and the Under

A brief movie clip of Joe Hughes flying inverted in his Pitt's under two autos jumping over at the same time, circa 1980. The movie was never produced. Sorry for the poor quality. I had just bought a new 8mm camera and had not had the settings on correctly. Unlike today's digital, I had no way of knowing what I was getting until film processing. But it is an historic event not to be seen to my ...

For those of us fortunate enough to be at the old airport almost daily, there was always something of interest happening. In this case just a pair ex-trainers flying in for lunch at the airport.

B-58 hustler gets my vote
Man! Whoever is filming this. You definitely suck!!
A radial engine paired with a sleek airframe. It inspired Kurt Tank to design the FW-190.
Yes it was.
That's a funny-looking Beechcraft Staggerwing...???
GRANVILLE BROTHERS.
Supermarine Spitfire. End of ❤❤
That is pretty. But the most beautiful, to me, is the Focke Wulf 190A. Gorgeous lines and that BMW radial sounds like IT'S shooting at ya.
The P-38 has always been my favorite.
DO-26 is the most beautiful. But a Connie with turboprop engines is darn close.
Nice, but the most beautiful plane ever built is the Lockheed Constellation!
I'm going to go for the Lockheed Constellation and the Handley Page Victor 😊
In my opinion the Me-262 is the most beautiful aircraft.
Next time get a good tripod!
Oops I meant Constellation
I always thought the Lockheed Continental was the most beautiful.
To be able to declare a winner as the most beautiful airplane, you have to see them all... have you seen them all?
And the most beautiful footage of an airplane ever shot. Lol Queen of the Skies. Seven-Four-Seven
Spitfire and P-51 Mustang. These were God's Handiwork. Debate closed.
Nothing comes close to the "Connies"! Nothing.
No. a Spitfire is beautiful but even it flies in the shadow of a Lockheed Constellation.
P36 gets my vote
You walked by the most beautiful plane in the opening-the P51 Mustang.
Xb-70 Valkyrie. Absolutely the best looking airframe ever, imo.
You guys wouldn.t know beauty if it sat on your faces
Terrible job on the camera way too shaky and out of focus!
Very subjective at best, while that airplane is very nice. My opinion is the KC/DC-10. So graceful in the air and wonderful lines
F8F Bearcat was beautiful
F-104 looked like Mach 2 just sitting on the ground.
F-86 Sabre was beautiful
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mirage F1 for me 😑.
Nice H-1 Racer!
Beechcraft model 17 .
I’d go for B58 or Constellation.
THE most beautiful?? That's a bold statement as it is 100% subjective. That it is a beautiful airplane is, in my view, not in doubt, but there are many that can lay claim to being in that class of beautiful aircraft. I always get misty eyed every time the Lockheed Connie takes to the air from my local airport here in Australia, but she is in the "Airliner" category. For twin engine general purpose freight/transport & twin engine airliner category, then the DC3/C47 could be regarded as a strong candidate. Categories & subjective opinions, they make the "Most Beautiful Airplane" claim a bit hard to support.
F4 PHANTOM ll
Another vote for the awesome connie here.
The most beautiful single seater is the P-38 as far as I'm concerned. Of course it is a twin.
That was cutting edge technology at the time. “The way of the future,” HH would always exclaim.
B 58 hustler
I find it a rather ugly plane with that bulbous nose.
I'd have to put forward two contenders for the most beautiful aircraft ever built; The Constellation and the P51 Mustang.
Beautiful plane indeed, but this video is a poor one. But it's better than not having one.
30 years ago and it was a VHS-c. state of the art at radio shack back then!
Corsair or P-38?
Crap you only have to look at a Supermarine Spitfire and you know instinctively it is the best, and proven airframe ever.
Old post, I know. Still have to make my vote the Mitchell B-25.
Beech Staggerwing gets my vote.
I had a few World War II vets tell me the mosg beautiful airplane was seeing a low flying P-47 Thunderbolt.
Still waiting for photos of the P-51D Mustang. Or maybe the F-4 Phanotm.
A beautiful craft indeed... but most beautiful... hardly.
