Ontario has a Lake to Lake Trailway?
Просмотров 668Месяц назад
With most of this trail system complete, we rode from Newmarket to the shores of Lake Ontario. With more grant money on the way, and most sections complete, this trail system is emerging as an excellent urban suburban network that will take riders from the south shore of Lake Simcoe more than 120km to shores of Lake Ontario and into Toronto's urban centre. Check out the links below for more inf...

Welcome to the toughest bike race in Ontario!
Просмотров 8622 месяца назад
I returned to this race from 2023 with unfinished business this year - having had a mechanical last year, I wanted to finish. Well this year did not go according to plan. This event might just be the hardest single day race in Ontario. The 130km includes 1700m of climbing. And not just smooth road climbing, or gravel road climbing; this race brings you face to face with washed-out forest trail ...
The Uxbridge (Dirt) Bike Trail?
Просмотров 6573 месяца назад
Even dirt bikes couldn't ruin a great day in the saddle for a gravel ride on the Canada Day long weekend. It was unfortunate to see dirt bikes speeding along the trail at 40km/h. Yet, overall the ride made for a great day. The Uxbridge Rail Trail to Lindsay is part of the @transcanadatrail. I would recommend if you are doing the loop that you carry enough water to get you to Lindsay. There are ...
The Perfect Cycling Loop in Ontario

The Simcoe County Loop Trail is 160KM, and is in my opinion the best long-distance loop for cycling in Ontario. It's not the most technical; it doesn't have the steepest climbs; it's not remote; it's not all gravel. So what makes the @CyclesimcoeCa Simcoe County Loop Trail the perfect loop for cycling in Ontario? It has gravel roads and rail trails; it has great bakeries; hits through great tow...

A long time coming, but this is the third and final video of our big tour through Prince Edward County Ontario, Canada. This is a fantastic area for cycling, tourism and just to relax. At long last the Day 2 video! :-) This was by far our favourite loop. The Cressy Loop, which leaves Picton as a loop around the peninsula. The weather was great. The cheese was great. 2023 Reggie Ramble Gravel Race
Просмотров 234Год назад
The 2023 Reggie Ramble is an epic gravel race in south central Ontario. It's about an hour's drive NE of Toronto, and south east of Rice Lake. There are three distances (Loops): 65km (one loop); 130km (two loops) and 200km (three loops). And each loop is a distinct ride, not a repeated lap. The race was first run in 2019. The 2023 edition was the largest to-date, with the fastest finishes so fa...

This was a bucket list event for me. An absolutely amazing ride. And the hardest ride I've done. Who said the prairies are flat!! 1300m climbing and 7km of hike a bike through heavy sticky mud. Thank you very much for your video! I'm almost 75 years old, live in Barrie, Ont. Unfortunately, I have Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. Garage burnt down 2 years ago. Lost bike. Have not replaced. My son lives on Queens Quay. The drive to Toronto is a drag. I would like to take the Go train down to Toronto, visit the kids, ride around a bit on the lovely paths on Lake Ontario, and go home. MY QUESTION: Last time I looked Go train will accept folding bikes on all trains. Normal bikes not on rush hour trains. What is the " loading your bike on the train experience " like? Are there lots of people wanting to load their bikes on the train? Is there a chance CN will say "we're full - need to wait for the next train" or is it very easy? I have been toying with buying a Brompton. I see Brompton has just released a 20" folding bike. Little pricey but life is short and the 20" wheel better for the spine. A full sized bike with fat tires would be even better save the rush hour non-folding bike train restrictions. Anyway, enjoyed the video. I assume that broken bridge was on Cherry Street? I've never heard of the Lake to Lake Trailway. I wish I was a little younger. Whatever - we are lucky to live in Southern Ontario! Thanks again for the video!!!

@@chrissorlie5291 hey! The train on weekend has no restrictions on bikes. I found ample space to get my bike onto the train. Each car can take 2 bikes I believe. There may still be some limits during weekday rush hour. But I would call their customer service to ask as it might have changed and be easier now. Make sure when you get to union you find the elevator to the train platform when you arrive to avoid lighting your bike up stairs. There are customer service reps roaming the main floor to help you. You could take an early train from Barrie to Newmarket. Exit and pick up the Tom Taylor trail from there to head south. It’s a fun ride!

@@theodor.koerne Reasonable question. My concern here for the safety of the cyclist is where they came from in the middle of the road, and continued splitting the lane even when there was room (that you cannot see). I’ve had occasions commuting where I’ve had to move from the right over to the left and split lanes (certainly when the right passage is blocked); it is sometimes necessary. On this road there were options that are not readily seen on camera; and the lane splitting continued longer than I feel was needed.
