Here in the Philippines rattan was our source of living from the late 70's to the late 90's. My parents were able to raise 16 children, from rags to riches! I have grown up living with rattan but never knew how it was harvested. I only know that it's the natives called " Dumagat " who harvest it from the jungle.

Halo ibu margrit linder, salam kenal saya febrika Beberapa waktu lalu saya kebetulan berada satu pesawat menuju malinau dibulan januari 2020 dengan suami ibu, dan beliau menceritakan bahwa ibu sedang membuat film dokumenter tentang rotan dan saya sangat tertarik dengan film yang ibu buat, akhirnya beliau memberikan nama youtube chanel ibu, dan amazing luar biasa sekali, hopefully kita bisa berjumpa dan sharing tentang rotan, kebetulan saya bertugas sebagai penyuluh kehutanan di bahau hulu. I'm from Canada and am familiar with rattan products but realized that I had no idea what plant rattan came from or the harvesting process. I searched RUclips and gladly discovered this series of films which I think are amazing. I was looking for a simple 'how-to' video and instead experienced a personal journey involving a community of people, culture, skills and art. Great filmmaking!
