Inspired by many car builders, my journey of having a go myself. And having fun
Mad Max Interceptor build
I'm back into this build and keen to finish the cars painting, as mentioned in my last video the car itself is nearly complete, after that I'm focusing on the wheel flares as they are a separate body part to the car, the back end including the roof came out nice, and as mentioned I decided I would flow coat the clear to get a better finish, all that being said, the weather plays a major part in trying to achieve this and I never had an opportunity all of 2024 to get the car into the bouncy booth.
But there always a way round this, so setting up in my shed is the way forward for now, the best part is happening in this video, and that's new items coming out of storage and fitted to the car...

Mad Max interceptor build

In this video its time to focus on fitting some smaller parts on the car, which means more parts out of box's and on the car, clear coating the roof and the rear end ,which if I can complete that task? will mean the painting on the car is complete, despite having a great Christmas with the family, an unexpected curved ball came into play that meant things didn't go to plan! Pushing through beca...

In this video I'm working on the doors, clear coating them, polishing and fitting them up with the new door handles etc, the front bumper needs detailing then that will also be ready to go back on the car, the good news is these parts are now complete at this part of the build, a few hiccups along the way which can be challenging, However its a time of progress on the build as I plan to have th...
Stag Water Pump cover part 3
Просмотров 1572 месяца назад
With the new gaskets delivered its time to have a look at the best fit, I really don't want to have the Intake manifold machined to suit the thicker gaskets, I'm also keen to see what results the reverse flush on the engine block will provide, I've seen some footage of sand still in the cooling galleries of the engine, Once I'm happy with the that and flushing out any sand if any I can charge t...
Mad Max Interceptor Build, Flow coating

Finally, I'm getting some good results by flow coating the clear coat, this video will show the results I've been working towards, this means it's the finish I want for the rest of the paint work on the car, what's involved? it's a process of sanding the clearcoat down with 600 grit then 1000 grit and so on. Then clean the panel down with wax and grease remover to prevent the risk of fisheyes, ...
Stag Water pump Part 2

Now everything is off the top of the engine, I need to remove the 6-vane pump and the bush that sits in the block of the engine, the pump may wind out as per the Rimmer bros video, If not I will have to weld a hook to the top nut on the pump and use a slide hammer to extract it, Once I've completed that job its real head scratcher as to how I will get the bush out ? I've got a few ideas how I m...
STAG water pump cover replacement, part 1
Просмотров 2163 месяца назад
So here we go again, back in the engine bay to sort the corroded water pump cover, which unveiled its sorry state when i did the timing chains. Now the water pump on the stag V8 sits in the V of the engine, which means removing all the components like carbs, intake, etc, not something I'm shy of as I have done stag water pumps before, but many moons ago. Also, I'm sure I have an air leak on the...

In this video I'm laying down clear coat on panels and parts to see if I can get the finish I want, which is as if the car has been polished or the wet paint look, it's been a while since I've tackled some of the smaller panels, also the front and rear bumper bars, but at least the car has all its colours on it. Also in this video we visit a local car cruise and got some of those classic gems o...
All British Day 2024 Brisbane Australia
Просмотров 3284 месяца назад
The All British Day is on again at Tennyson Brisbane, the weather forecast is dry so off come the hardtop of the stag, I'm a lot more confident about getting the car to the show as its been over a year since I bought it and serviced the car for maximum reliability. Last year was a Blast from the past, nearly every car that was parked kerbside on the GB streets was on display, and it brought bac...

Wow, mate. Looking sweet!. Do you know what exact paint code for the MFP theme that's close to the movie. I thought to ask you, since i seen your progress on the MFP. As I'm getting close on starting on mine. I'm not sure if Cameron Manewell would have info about it and details, body kits, LTS Radio. Might have to ask him?.
There's a link in the description to DSG Facebook page contact me there for more info on paint colours etc. Cheers
Looking great mate🎉
The 'ol quad-box-ception trick. Nicely played!

Fantastic progress mate and have a top Christmas
Thanks Chris same to you mate, have a good one cheers 🍻
Hey this is great! Every man and his dog has replicas of the black "Pusuit Special" car. About time someone replicated the first Max Rockatansky car from the opening chase sequence. Nice job mate :)
So cool. I don't know why I've been thinking I'd like to see someone do a tribute to that Ford that was on BMX Bandits
Great job
She’s looking lovely mate

I used to live in Windsor NSW and there was one of these MFP cars getting around there.
Well done Champion the car looks amazing. Can’t wait for further episodes.
She's coming along really nicely man! Youll be onto the interiour in no time.
This is the reason I am here, Love this stuff...
The water leaks can be confusing i had a leak on the heater return pipe at the rear , took me a while to find even with pressure testing , a damp v is somtimes normal as the water pump seal does bed in , thanks for sharing,
A job well done. Could not believe the sand that came out possibly from 50yrs ago.
Wasn't expecting to see sand! But just goes to show with a TV8 Better safe than sorry.
Gee Whizz, great progress, its looking really good, well worth the effort. What wheels do you intend to fit?
It's near on impossible to find chrome sunracia wheels in Australia, summit racing had a decent copy in stock with various offset options, so I went with that, also looking forward to the day I fit them to the car. Cheers
Nice
Just in the middle of this too on the other side of the world in Ireland, pump rebuild kit on the way from James Paddock too. Unfortunately I’m going to have to helicoil some of the manifold bolt threads in the heads as when I initially checked them for tightness (to see if that was the cause of the leak) 3 of them were stripped. Great cars though and so easy to work on compared to the modern stuff. I also have a 91 Merc SL 500 and even though it’s 33 years old, it’s already full of ECU’s and electronics.
May be your water pump leaking as I just recently noticed the brass cage is exposed in the valley, with the manifold off use a bore scope and go under the water pump housing and you'll see it. I had to replace some helicoils seeing as I had the inlet off. Episode 3 of the water pump cover is in the editor process. Yes I find the stag easy to work on compared to modern cars. Puts the stag enthusiast in us all when we decide to tackle most jobs ourselves
Love it!
Looking great so far! I'm doing a ZG fairlane at the moment.
hi. can I ask about the paint on your Stag. Is it "Flamenco Red"?
This stag is pimento red code 72
@@dustystuffgarage thank you!
Looks great, no GT bonnet pins?
Unfortunately I couldn't sorce a bonnet with the pins! So settled for what I could get. Cheers
1 panel at a time mate.
Very useful vid. Thank you. As for the orientation of the sticker.... I'm not a purest but suggest that they likely came out of the factory facing either way.... this was BL in the 70's after all.
I was unsure of its orientation, so I googled it and many photos of untouched airboxes had them facing that way. I also found a picture of a stag I had in the UK that had the sticker readable from the passengers side of the car, so I went with that. Glad you enjoyed the video cheers
Could difference in gaskets be old ones were used. Crushed a little bit. Hence different thickness
I've ordered all 3 sets of gaskets available. One of the buggers is going to fit lol
For sure mate. Enie Meanie Mini Mo.
Awesome Brother! I just need to ship one Aussie ride over here to be in my collection. Y’all have some cool rides for sure! That one is going to be sweet!
It’s gonna be a corker when it’s done mate, that’s for sure.
Looking good mate
Clear Coat Makes me want to throw up if your going that far into it why not acrylic...looks like a old mole sitting at a bar stool with big red thick lippy on looking for a young buck 😅
Definitely past it's use by date mate.
Hey awesome build been thinking of doing the same one day where would you get a body kit from ?
I got mine from a guy that supplies the spoilers, contact me through my Facebook page, I can send his details. Cheers
@@dustystuffgarage thankyou so much that would be a great help, much appreciated how do l find you on Facebook?
@haroldbulman5757 there's a link in the description of this video. Cheers
@@dustystuffgarage thankyou so much 👍
1st time watching your channel. I love your Stag. I’ve always wanted to get one.
Love how you slipped the word "muriels" in to describe the artwork on the Econovan. Something a mate and I used to say back in the day when we saw painted murals on panel vans. Love all your work and humble approach.
