So sad they destroyed all of it. Those buildings were not temporary. Not built by us. Ancient, heavenly, made of the finest materials, to glorify God and all things divine. For whatever reason. Men got rid of it, maybe because there’s no way to explain how we could build at such a scale, and the many many many anomalies. We are unfortunately not able to build like that, that was our far superior ancestors, they were the future to the utmost extent of that word. They traveled by airship and contacted the angels. Made castles and starforts cathedrals everything glorious you see that is old world. I love playing the organ so much and pray it continues to be loved by many, and invested in.

What an amazing historic recording! John Wanamaker is an absolute visionary genius! His building, currently owned by Macy’s in Center City Philadelphia, is one of the most beautiful places to visit. The Wanamaker Organ alone is a marvel. Largest organ in existence and it still plays every day.

Thank you so, so much for posting this. Robert Elmore was an organist at the church I am now a member of, Central Moravian. It was he at the organ when my family came for Christmas Eve Vigils. His reading here of his own music is filled with nuance after nuance. Fantastic! Thank you.

I'm still amazed about this mamoth massive musical instrument. I havent heard anything else like this instrument . Definitey this instrument is like no other kind of pipe organ I've ever heard. My 1st time hearing this organ was when Keith Chapman performed on this the NBC News Interview in my highschool yrs. I still have an several LP records & CD's of this instrument. The sound of clicking controls & rumbling of the building shake - still gives me Goose Bumps Today - Oh what a rush. Truly Philadelphians have Great Priceless TREASURE - Like no other known - Especially for a Department Store . One Of A Kind *****.

Alas what's in a name? They are a sort of harp made from tuned bars over brass resonators that resemble canteens and proide a sort of hollow resonance. All the glass at the top of the Grand Court does its part as a resonance chamber of its own

Do you know if it’s a new-built unit, or something “re-homed” from elsewhere? I’m guessing it must be pretty big scale to be that big at the console?

John Binsfeld was my Organ Professor at Temple University! The greatest music teacher and mentor I ever had!!!!!! He was legendary in his musicianship, teaching and passion for excellence!! 45 Years as Organist at Christ Church Philadelphia and I believe just as many years playing the Wanamaker Organ. He also played for Pope John Paul II visit to Philadelphia in 1976. I will never forget how he played the Bach Christmas Oratorio, Numerous Bach Cantatas, Faure and Duruflé Requiems and so much more with the Christ Church Choir! He loved God and using music to worship and adore Him. Thanks for this beautiful recording of my dear friend. Ron Coles
