Mad Cool 2024 (Highlight: Bring Me The Horizon 😍)
Hola Buenas!
Another event this week! We we to Mad Cool! Unfortunately I only got tickets for one of the days, but it was to see my favourite band from when I was a teenager. I'll be honest, ever since I went to this festival, I have been listening to their music again and getting back into it! Who says I can't listen to Reggaeton, Bachata, Salsa, Grime and Post-hardcore music? I also got to see Avril Lavigne which was fantastic! This is a bit of a longer video, but I really did not want to cut it down too much as I want to offer the full experience :). An incredible event and hope to see you guys there next year!
Thanks for watching.

    As with London and other locations, there is no shortage of affordable housing. The real moan behind this issue is that the ‘prime’ locations are sold by locals to whoever offers the best terms. That is what happens in a democratic country. Locals have no more right to housing in prime locations than anyone else. Prime locations often have the fastest appreciation on housing and perhaps that is what many of those moaning about this really have in mind - hypocrisy in action.

    My wife is American of full blood Sicilian down all four grandparents. Sicily is stunning though there are cheaper options. We have a favourite spot on Corfu called Kassiopi which ticks all our boxes. Corfu Town is a pleasant place to stay and walk around. Malta is just fantastic especially for history lovers ( highly influenced by Italy). Madeira is beautiful. The whole Dordogne region is difficult to find fault with the Bastide towns high on the to do list. Cascais in Portugal is excellent with an easy train ride into Lisbon. Marseilles is a busy hodge podge of French and N African and plenty of excursions to be had by bus and train. No real need for a car. Lucca makes a great base to explore Tuscany - a drive Volterra is a must, Florence can be got to by train easily and Sienna is a fairly easy drive and back to beautiful Lucca at the end of the day. Choose your spot along the Amalfi coast - it's all great. We Stay in Pompeii and use the train and buses for days out in Naples and Sorrento etc. Lille is a great city break from the UK via Eurostar. The Netherlands is great, fly into Schipol leave the airport by going downstairs to the railway station and go to Utrecht. Use that as a railway hub to see the likes of Amersfoort, Delft etc - everything in Holland is close by. Warsaw is a great city break with great museums. Wrocslaw and Krakow lovely and my favourite in Poland Gdansk. Dresden is lovely as is Meissen - just up river the whole state of Sachsen is full of lovely and unheard of hilltop towns. Goerlitz on the Polish/German border is an undiscovered gem.. City break to Prague is a break you'll want repeat. Budapest likewise. I could go on but she who must be obeyed is glaring at me. I see the confusion, apologies, I should have made it clear that I've lived in Spain for 6 years, I can speak Spanish, but yes I suppose you could say I'm still learning, who isn't? I can hold a conversation in Spanish though 🙂 I definitely wouldn't call myself a tourist. Paying taxes means everything, if you pay into the society you live in, you have a right to speak your mind. I'm a permanent resident with a permanent residency card, not a tourist. I'm very much assimilated into the culture and way of life here and I am proud to live in Spain, hence why I make the sorts of videos that I do so I can show people the amazing places in this beautiful country. But whilst we mention it, I think tourists should be shown more respect than spraying them with water guns and telling them to go home. Assuming I'm a tourist is the fault of the person making the assumption, not mine.

    It's their country. Spain is great because of the Spanish, not foreigners. You are a guest in their country and are there at their discretion. Never forget that.

    • @Davantsi
      @Davantsi Месяц назад

      Totally disagree, Spain is great because of the contribution of foreigners AND the Spanish, that is also true for the UK, France, Portugal, Germany and any other country for that matter. Let's not put people on pedestals and pretend like people have claims to land, countries are social constructs, nothing more. Spain wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for the EU, that's a fact. I'm not a guest, I pay taxes and live here following the laws and contributing to society. I'm a permanent resident. Tourists are guests, but we've seen how they've been treated recently. It's nothing to do with their discretion, it's the discretion of the EU who have funded a lot of the wonderful things we have here and it is for their benefit just as much as mine. I live here, I love Spain and the Spanish people, but my contributions are valid just like all the other wonderfully diverse people we have here. Have a good day 🙂

    • @thebeast3279
      @thebeast3279 Месяц назад

      @@Davantsi sorry but I think this comes across as entitled. When you live in any country, including your home country, having a job, paying your taxes and obeying the law is the BARE MINIMUM requirement. You shouldn't expect the natives to be grateful for your contribution. Countries are social constructs for a reason. It is because most people are instinctively tribal and want to live among their own people. Societies constructed borders to minimise conflict so different groups of people had their own space and respected each other's boundaries. The dismissal of this concept is only a recent construct. Just because you as an expat have a vested interest in not believing in this concept, it doesn't mean you have the right to dismiss natives for feeling this way. You might be a permanent resident and your right to be in Spain is legal. But you are still a foreigner and therefore still a guest. Your right to be in Spain is legal because the Spanish afforded you that right. They can also overturn that decision. The reality is Spain is not your homeland. Being Spanish to you will never mean what it does to the native population. For them, it is their ancestral homeland and their entire identity. Respect that. There is no denying tourists and (some) foreigners have been good for the Spanish economy but there's more to life than GDP. Have foreigners improved Spanish culture, social cohesion and society generally? I don't think so. I think their contributions in this regard have been a massive net negative. When I look at places like Benidorm, I feel aggrieved for the Spanish people. I can't even begin to imagine how they must feel at how their communities have been fundamentally changed by tourism.

For example, Spain intentionally charges less in tax duty by volume on alcoholic beverages than most European countries, and that decision was specifically taken to attract holidaymakers to the country so volume sales of booze would net a large tax return for the Government. It then uses that revenue to fund its infrastructure, as all nations do with their tax revenue. What do you think they do with that tax money, spend it on fluffy unicorns?

    There is a myth that tourists are what keep the Spanish economy going....maybe that was true in the 1960s and 70s, but not now......what the people in the "holiday regions" of Spain want is an economy that offers decent jobs and opportunities for their future generations. Not everybody wants to be a waiter or a hotel cleaner. Then you have foreigners coming and buying up all the available real estate. Most of the hotels and apartments in places like Mallorca are owned by foreigners anyway, as are many of the workers who live like you-know-whats trying to scrape enough money to live on. So a great part of the money flows out. And the absolute fcking arrogance of those who think the locals should be grateful for yobbos vomiting on their streets because they bring the money in.....no, you don't.....and now you can go and vomit somewhere else....

    Air BnBs cause problems in tourist areas all over. In Cornwall the locals struggle to afford to live in the area because so many properties are bought by investors and turned into air BnBs causing shortage of homes and results in resentment and hostility to the people using them. Hotels don't take housing that could be used by locals - air BnBs do and there needs to be control over what percentage of housing in an area can be turned into them.

There is hardly anything left for people who love here. There are also a lot more foreign people like me living here than there used to be. The Greeks are finding it tough due to the lack of properties and the stupid prices being asked for the ones that are available. This anti-immigrant sentiment is promoted by the extreme right and the right (PP/VOX) in Spain and the rest of Europe, including most notably in the United Kingdom (BREXIT). Unfortunately, this phenomenon is affecting many people since they believe this propaganda and think that their problems are the immigrants instead of the investment funds, vulture funds, and large corporations that are causing this crisis by speculating on housing. Which are precisely those who protect the right-wing parties. Regarding tourism, the problem is uncontrolled mass tourism and the lack of respect of some tourists towards the place they visit and its people. In the case of British tourists, unfortunately they have earned their reputation for a long time, just take a walk around Benidorm, the Costa del Sol or the Balearic Islands, and you will see this type of behavior. The conclusion is that the model of the tourism industry in Spain is outdated since it dates back to the 60s and must be changed to a more current model that is more sustainable, ecological and more respectful of the environment and its people, including the tourist themselves.
