F150 4bt short drive

First short test drive of the truck, still needs some trans tuning.
Mpg???
High 26’s
High 20’s*
I want to do a OM648 swap on my 07 expedition
I love a good 10th gen my 4.6 got 210k she purrs like a cougar
same dirt go u lungs
What would it cost just to do a motor swap like this
Parts and labor? Or Just labor?
@@caseymogensen2579 parts and labor
Why on earth is it building boost in park? You must have a significant exhaust resteiction/poor manifold/tiny turbo.
What year is the engine and what year would you recommend
The engine is built early 1999, but in all honesty if I were to do it again I’d go with a common rail 3.9 and do a front gear train conversion on it
Probably torque-e-er (no real spelling, lol) than the 5.4 2V. How's the top end on the highway? You pretty much have unlimited power with the 4bt. Where did you find the donor block at? I work for Cummins, so this is one of those projects that I have customers come in with that always intrigues me.
damn 1200 degrees on the egt's aftermarket pistons or something?
Lol nah man, 1200 really isn’t as bad as you think, it’d only be hard on her if I ran 1200 degrees for extended periods of time. With my new setup I can barely touch 1200
Are you still doing these swaps?
Hi. What shift rpm in transmission, did you tune it, who is did adapter plate
I bought an F150 with those auto meter gauges in it I want them for my good f150 what will it take to correctly install them in my other truck?
What year truck? And these particular gauges are discontinued so you’d have to find a set somewhere. Either online or in a junkyard truck
what's it cost to have someone do the swap for you?
I honestly have no idea as every conversion has its differences and challenges. If someone was to pay me to do this exact swap I’d probably charge 35k parts and labor
Awesome build bud thinking about doing the same to my rig
And it probably gets 35mpg
Love it wish I had one of my own
I’ve got a 2000 extended cab I always talk about throwing a diesel in mine but everyone looks down on it and says I’d be better off going and buying a diesel truck
It all depends on what you want out of the truck, just remember even though it has a diesel it’s still just a half ton truck
How much hp you have in total
And how fast can you go
And what is the part number for the transmission adapter plate
290hp as of right now still, speed wise I’ve never tested it to see where it tops out and as far as the adapter plate goes, it’s from Destroked and it’s their 6bt to 4r100 gas adapter
Dope swap 🔥
You could have a decent side gig building a new one of these every year and selling your old one. There are very rich people out there that want a Cummins half ton pickup that is put together right by a experienced builder.
I’d absolutely do it if people were willing to pay, but I don’t think the market is quite that hot lol
@@caseymogensen2579 You haven’t watched enough RUclips engine swap videos to know. There’s guys out there going years back selling diesel swapped newer Pickups and SUV’s with a lift and rims for nearly six figures. Remember there’s 16 million millionaires and they’re very bored with what you can order off a dealer lot. If you regularly upload tons of videos with each of your finished projects and skip over the boring small details you will gain a bigger following. It is statistically guaranteed you will have rich people watching your videos.
@@markm0000 note taken!
That’s such a nice truck. Good job man I’d love to drive that every day. For the air filter you can try 2 smaller ones to fill up the space better and have more surface area for less restriction.
Thanks for the comments! So much has changed with the truck since the last update. I will try to post another next year once the weather warms up over here.
@@caseymogensen2579 Cool 😎
How did you do it with the motor mounts and what kind of transmission do you have
I built my own mounts and used the 4r70w trans
Hey I’m the process what was the cost to do this?i need a new motor
20k full restoration but could be easily budgeted to 8-10k
Casey you have the stock trans or also a upgrade trans?
I don’t need the restoration just the motor and trans
@@heribertoramos7739 right now I’m running a built 4r70w trans. The things you’ll need are more than just a motor and trans to make everything work including your gauges
Do you have a good shop you recommend me yo get this done at? Or you did it your self?
What's your mpg look like on the build?
To put it in a little perspective the truck has a 25 gallon tank and I drove from Anoka, MN to Brownsburg, IN on 1 tank doing a pretty consistent 75-80 mph, not loaded though obviously
@@caseymogensen2579 that's around a 600 mile trip, so 23 mpg. Not bad with an automatic transmission and 3.73 gears
@@caseymogensen2579 what engine mounts did you use?
@@mikefoster6358 built my own mounts and used auto world conversions isolators
@@caseymogensen2579 front or rear oil pan?
You have ac?
Yes!
I’m doing the same thing I have a f150 03 with a 4bt in my garage
Can you do a video of a wot pull on the street?
You looking for an in cab shot or out side shot?
@@caseymogensen2579 both if possible
@@_mireles4797 I’ll see what I can do, I haven’t taken insurance off the old girl quite yet lol
@@caseymogensen2579 thanks
Are you using the stock transmission?
Yup just built
Top speed?
All depends on gear ratios
Nice and clean damn! I was thinking of swapping out the 5.4
love the build. Im doing a resto mod on a 90 f150 and Im curious, did you just use the stock transmision?
Yes I did use the stock trans and it has been built. But I’ve gone through 3 of them and now just to get me by I had to reinstall the original 4r70w trans. I have a 4r100 that I’m building now to have that installed instead.
That's pretty damn impressive. I have an 03' and I love the modest Torque it possesses @ the low end and it rarely sees over 4,000 RPM with regular oil changes, which is why I am @ 261,008 miles. Most of these 4.6 and 5.4 2 valves, when spark plugs are torqued properly, will see 250,000 to 275,000 miles for sure.
I'm actually thinking about doing the same to a 2012 f150, if I can find a decent one for a good price. What kinda fuel economy do you get?
Have u given thought to r2.8? I was thinking of doing that instead of 4bt but im very stuck right now between the two
Being honest, with how tuned it is I get mid to high 20’s. Let’s just say on one tank I can make it from Minneapolis to Indianapolis, that’s on a full 25 gallon tank doing 80mph at about 2500-2800rpm but don’t quote me on rpm lol
@@caseymogensen2579 Hell, high 20's ain't bad at all for hauling ass. Plus, almost 600mi range. You're convincing me, lol. I just need to get my ducks in a row.
What transmission did you use
4r70w with billet flex plate, adapter plate and double disc converter. Going to be swapping to a 4r100 soon
Got an 07mark Lt that I believe need a 4bt
As far as engine sensors and things like that did they bolt up to the 4 bt or did you have to swap computer and harness
All 5.4 sensors for dash gauges were moved to the 4bt, I made a custom harness for the 4bt out of the original 5.4 harness and it just plugs right in so the dash and engine talk to each other. No computer swapping
@@caseymogensen2579 interesting, thank you so much for the reply I am currently trying to build one of these it's my dream vehicle since I saw your first video!
@@gavinkirkpatrick1861 you’re welcome, hope your dream comes true! Never a dull moment driving around
Does the 4bt bolts right to the f150 transmission?
No there is an adapter plate you need to buy.
Awesome build. going to be doing the same build and was wondering if you had any issues with the ECM looking for the 5.4 fuel injection and did it throw any codes and engine light issues? also does your cruise control work?
The ecm will always be looking for fuel injection but I pulled the engine light from the cluster and put it in the air suspension hole lol so yes there is an abundance of faults but nothing that bothers anything from operating as it should. The cruise is just a decent cable away from being operational
@@caseymogensen2579 ok thanks
did you have to upgrade the front suspension?
Stock suspension besides Bilstein shocks and cranked T bars
That a good price for diesel truck
What a beautiful truck man!
Hey man! Did you think about doing a 7.3 swap?? I am seriously considering doing mine. Love to talk more with ya.
In the end the truck is still a half ton so putting a motor that came out of a one ton truck in a half ton chassis didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Now do like an international DT360 swap in like an 08-10 F350 now that would be awesome!
Hey man where did you got that cluster?
Summit racing sold them for a while but I don’t think they do anymore. I’m sure you can find them around somewhere though
Casey Mogensen thanks man ,I’ll search around
I have a 98 that I wanna do this to. What’s the cost to do this.?
Right around 15 to 20k to be decent
Nice job on build , looks stock and sounds like it would run all day. 🇺🇸👍🏻
Hi did you use dynomat inside the cab for noise
Matt Woody actually no, the truck is very tolerable, the only time it can be louder than average is at idle. Otherwise it is comfortable.
@@caseymogensen2579 thanks very much for the reply matt
You have shift control on you trans?
Domingo Martínez Bonilla the trans is controlled by a PCS-2000 trans controller all parameters are laptop based and tuned.
Nice jop , what did you use for motor mount?
Domingo Martínez Bonilla I built the mounts myself but the isolators came from auto world conversions.
What did you use for trany
Domingo Martínez Bonilla 4r70w but I advise on going with the 4r100 gas trans instead.
I thought about going with a 4BT-6BT for my 5.4L F-350 XLT incase the engine just gave up on me.Mine had 297,000 Miles and since then was sold.At least with yours now with a 12 Valve in there, you got a good two times or even three times on higher fuel efficiency than a gas gussler Triton gets.
8 valve
goo jop what transmission or adaoters do you use
