    Who says you can’t split downshift? Like you say, you have to match the revs and maximise the exhaust brake

    • @driveit-drivertraining
      @driveit-drivertraining 3 месяца назад

      Hi there, it can be done but normally needing a full gear on the way down helps with the engine braking. Thanks for the comment

  • @mickwilliamson1114
    @mickwilliamson1114 5 месяцев назад

    Hi John, I now that you split once you get to 4th but on down shift to you split in 5th to get down to 4th or from 5th go straight to 4th the split to keep downshifting.

    • @driveit-drivertraining
      @driveit-drivertraining 3 месяца назад

      Hi, sorry for the delay here, missed this completely. Only really need to split on the up shifts, when you're shifting down you normally need a full shift to get the engine braking, rather than the half shift the split provides. Hope that helps. Thanks 👍

    Looks Good !!!! What about when you release the strap under tension and you've got your hands in the way because the strap is dangling down from the top of the ratchet and needs holding out of the way of the the ratchet to release the strap . If the straps is dangling from bottom you can release the tension safely without having to hold the strap and prevent your hands and Arms from getting tangled in the strap and ratchet as the strap slides through the ratchet on releasing the tension !!!! You should be able to release the ratchet one handed . Also making the strap into a hoop can hook onto things as you pass then and pull the strap and load from your trailer !!!

    How are you supposed to see road signs.will you naturally see them when you are looking at the road ahead to stay centered or do you need to scan for them.iam concerned i wont see them while just looking up at the road ahead of me and i am concerned even when scanning because i may miss them.

    2nd wrap doesn't need that extra loop to tie the strap on itself. If you just do the 2nd part of that (loop through and twist by hand), then twist as tight as you can. After you can't twist anymore, hit the ratchet one more click to tighten it more.

    Just wanted to say that your speech in the first minute put my mind at ease a lot. From what I can see you are a very good and patient instructor. I'm in central western NSW Australia. Otherwise I would be hiring you for sure. I have my HR licence already but have very limited experience and I still struggle. Would really like to sharpen my skills. I probably need to drive a medium rigid full time for a good year before driving the bigger trucks.
