This is so great! Will this process also work with sawdust spawn (instead of grain spawn)? I know the mushrooms won't contain gluten themselves, but we have two folks with celiac and it's just healthier for us not to have gluten-containing grains around at all to avoid cross-contamination and reactions. I have 2 boxes of lions mane I bought- kits. If I can ever get them to grow, which I have gotten mixed messages on temperature and how much to spray etc I want to transfer it to a bucket. Should I mix it with pellets?

I thought they had to have a lot of air flow?

I recently started growing lion's mane at home for the first time, and I'm curious about a couple of things. I inoculated three jars with liquid culture in whole oats, and let the mycelium colonize the jars before splitting the grain spawn up between two buckets. I was a little concerned when I emptied the jars into the hard wood pellets I used, as the middle of the jars didn't seem to be as well colonized as the outsides. There was some really nice, thick mycelium on the outer edge of the jars, but the middle of all three jars was pretty sparse. I'd always read that you didn't want uncolonized grains in your bulk substrate, but rewatching your video it looks like the spawn you used wasn't anywhere near as colonized as mine was. Is it normal when using jars to not have the entire thing colonized like mine? Because it looks like yours worked out fine. Also, I followed the formula for how much water to use in your hard wood pellets, but it seemed like mine came out dry. I'm somewhat familiar with the term "field capacity", and my pellets didn't seem to have any excess water to squeeze out like I expected. I went ahead and pushed forward with it all anyway, but I'm worried that my hard wood pellets may not have enough water in them. Does the pellets/water ratio that you use naturally give a slightly drier substrate?

How do you clean out the container and bucket before you use them? Can I pick up a similar plastic for the humidity tent at a hardware store?

A great video! I've been growing Lion's Mane and Oysters indoors for a couple of years, and am looking forward to trying the bucket method. I know Oysters can be grown on straw in buckets, and the spent spawn can be used to inoculate a new bucket. Can the same be done with Lion's Mane?

What is the temperature range this will work? Is Florida in the shade too hot? Also will this work with a larger bucket with more holes? Thanks!

Great video. Very informative. Out of curiosity how many kg/pounds of lions mane can you grow from one 8 litre bucket using 1440 grams of lion’s mane spawn if ideal growing conditions are met. Thanks. Also have you tried to grow lion’s mane in an outside greenhouse ?

Hardwood fuel pullets can be made from treated wood, or have been exposed to chemicals. They were intended to go into a furnace.

Can you do it in a later bucket? I can’t seem to easily find 2 gallon buckets with a lid for cheap.
