    Oh dear, some of your viewership seem a bit confused. Firstly the Epsom 8550 printer is a good office printer that prints fairly decent photos on dye base ink very cheaply, where as the Epson SC P700 is really a small pro photo printer up to A3+ on pigment ink. This results in real quality photos you can sell in the art market. In general terms it’s a fairly cheap to use printer with 25cc of ink for £28 per cartridge. If you want to save even more money buy an Epson SC P900 printer. The sad fact is, in the world of inkjet printers the more you pay for a photo printer the cheaper they are to run, it’s as simple as that . I had a Canon 8750 for 8 years and it never gave me any trouble and is still working fine with its new owner ! This model has Been in production for 10 years,so canon must have got something right !

    Good vid, but why make it so hard turning everything 90 degrees on the screen? Go 11.7 x 8.3 at the start, and print in landscape, no need for all the rotation.

    • @danielle-chibichidesigns4433
      @danielle-chibichidesigns4433 25 дней назад

      True! But lots of my viewers struggle with printer settings. It's much easier for them to have one extra step in the design process, but then one less step when it comes to the actual printer.

    • @Richard.oo7
      @Richard.oo7 23 дня назад

      @@danielle-chibichidesigns4433 I disagree. Much easier to select the option 'landscape' in the printer settings, and being able to work on a design in front of you the right way up without having to rotate everything!

    • @danielle-chibichidesigns4433
      @danielle-chibichidesigns4433 23 дня назад

      Perhaps for you, but I can only go with the experience of my viewers, and I know that for them having to remember the extra step each time it's printed (portrait to landscape) will be a hindrance. You only have to rotate it once, then you can print as is limitless times. It's probably a personal preference thing.

    Hope you are well Danielle. You almost have me sold on the ip8750 and paper cutz, but a couple more queries : if I were to print photos 10cmx14cm per card,roughly how many prints do you think i would get using a full set of inks with papercutz matte photo paper 300gsm. Also, how do you think the ip8750 would perform if it was asked to print a couple of hundred cards each day and how often would I need to clean it ? Your advice is proving to be invaluable to me and when I am decided on what to purchase , I do not mind using any link you have if it will benefit you in any way. Thanks

    • @danielle-chibichidesigns4433
      @danielle-chibichidesigns4433 29 дней назад

      I'm so glad my advice is helping! It's so hard to predict ink yield as there are so many different variables involved such as image saturation, colour use etc I'd say probably around the 2-300 mark though. With heavy use of that kind you'll probably find any desktop printer will last less than a year. But even with greetings card small margins, it will have paid for itself several times over. I'd suggest cleaning the rollers daily with a dry lint free cloth and then a more intensive clean when you notice the rollers aren't picking up properly. You can buy cleaning sheets to help with this too ☺️ I hope this helps!

    Hi Danielle, I love your videos and have found them to be so useful and informative. My question for you is, with your canon pixma ip8750 printer, do you find that black ink does not print correctly onto gloss paper? What I mean is, does it not seem to sink into the paper like the rest of the colours and it seems to have a matte effect to it, meaning it'll scratch and mark? I am wondering if this issue I am having is due to my paper choice, so I have just ordered from Paper Cutz, so thanks for that :)

Also, I live in the Caribbean and sourcing cardstock here is impossible.

      It's possible to create full print card designs on A4/ US letter size with any printer providing you're creating the finished card around 5x7" when folded. Have a look at some of my earlier greeting cards videos where I show you how to do this. It's something I do all the time with my specialist seed cards. As for the difficulties with sourcing cardstock, have you considered digital downloads? I know it's a saturated market, but it's one you'd be able to hopefully join in with until you've sorted your supplier. Wishing you the best of luck!

      Make sure you're using the "iP8700 series CUPS Printer Driver" that you download from their site and not the AirPrint driver that comes with macOS. If you're using the AirPrint driver remove that and install the drivers from Canon then reset the printer. Once that's installed and you've re-setup the printer to use that driver, you'll see the profiles in the print dialog under Printer Options -> Color Matching -> ColorSync. For the Automatic profile option to work, make sure to set the Media Type under Printer options -> Quality & Media -> Media Type. Also, printing using Affinity on Mac is nowhere as robust as on Windows sadly. It's one of the places where the Adobe Creative Suite wins supreme on Mac unfortunately. Affinity has left the printer driver and macOS to do the colour management rather than doing it themselves. You won't have the Colour Management dialog that's shown in this video at all and the profiles will be different. Thank you so much for the Mac help and advice. I can now get the colours printing correctly using plain paper settings with ColorSync set to auto but as soon as you change the media type to Matt photo paper the colours all shift to really dark. It’s infuriating. I cannot believe it should be this difficult. Epson is print and go 😬. I, like Danielle, selected this printer to cope with. 300gsm card. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve now started a case with Epson, although their latest advice is to check the printer nozzles, I don’t think this will fix it 🤣.

    Now you're giving conflicting info : quite some time ago you very strongly voiced your contempt for Canon printers and hinted you were to go back with Epsom! Yet here you are still using Canon, tell us please, why have you stayed with this machine you disliked so much.

      As mentioned in my video, my opinion has changed. It's mainly based on how much more reliable the canon is when printing on thick card. The reason I hated my canon originally was the issues with the colours, but as you can see I've resolved this now.

    Have you considered convincing main stream stores to sell your cards and if so, what are the limitations of a small business like this? Scalability, cost of equipment, or maybe just getting noticed enough to convince people to use your services? Seems fascinating because I work at American Greetings and the profit margins are insane. I admire your work because it seems like a crazy amount of effort goes into this.

I sold it for £50 scrap. wouldn't buy another epson. ive just bought a used canon ip8750 that works great, the print count on it is an unbelievable 66 thousand prints. Epson eat your heart out.

    Hi Danielle. Thank you for your honesty. I am wanting to get into something similar, and today is my very first day of actually starting to research what's what. This is one of the first videos I've watched, and it is so helpful! As yet, I have absolutely no idea of how Etsy works and am feeling quite lost with it all, and where to start. I'm now wondering whether it's worth it or not. I do (possibly) have a slightly niche idea, so that may help, but it's still worrying. I am lucky, in that I do have a job, so this would be purely a creative outlet and maybe pocket money, if it makes anything at all. I'm not looking at having a website, so that might help to keep costs down. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you - and I hope things look up for you soon.

When I was successful and this paid the bills I wasn't in a saturated market, so it's definitely possible! The decline in my sales has a lot to do with everyone jumping on over lock down etc. If you need anything at all, please reach out. I'm always happy to help!

      A refreshing honest creator! We started crafting and selling april23 our yearly figures after all expenditure were just £85 if I remember rightly 😂 we both have full times jobs and wanted this as a side business that may eventually take myself from one self employed business to another one day. I wasn't upset at the figure's because they included machines and materials etc just glad we came out in the black not red. You're right this is a very competitive market and extremely hard when the likes of Etsy sting you. Have you heard of numonday at all? I keep seeing ads and getting emails about them. Wondering what everyone else thinks of them. Keep going!

    Can you tell me when using the double sided matt photo paper if the print is water resistant, or not easily marked with fingers. Also can the inside of the card take all pen types when writing a message inside. Thank you in advance! all the best.

      Not at all. Some of my designs are A5. You could technically go up to a3+ with this printer. Although a card sized to A4 may need a thicker GSM to stand without bowing and I'm not sure this printer would handle the thickness.

      @lindsaycartwright-tq1tp 3 месяца назад

      @danielle-chibichidesigns4433 yes orientation is right, it could be my printer, it's only a cheap epson to practice with, it's the part when it is folded, it always seems to print off centre, more to the fold line if that makes sense. Thank u for trying to help x

    • @danielle-chibichidesigns4433
      @danielle-chibichidesigns4433 3 месяца назад

      Each printer will have a slightly different centre calibration. Measure how far off the centre is (easy to do if you print a line that is aligned to the centre of the page) then move your design on affinity by that measurement. Does that make sense?

      Yes. I have some videos on my channel over trimming first and making your own blanks vs printing and then cutting. I prefer to make my own blanks to print on as it's quicker, but if I'm creating an edge to edge design, then I'll print on a4 and then trim after.

      That's great that you have the funds to be able to do that. Realistically most of us don't. If you read through the dozens of comments on my videos from people experiencing exactly the same issues as me, you'll see that it's a wide spread issue for a lot with this specific printer. As for using the right paper. I've dabbled with marrutt and their specific icc profile for this printer and ink with the same problems. I'm glad you've managed to get yours to work though. I'd love a mac, but sadly it's too far out of my budget.
