      In a way yes, but we also carry quite a bit of expensive camera gear that I would have had to leave there unlocked, so didn't feel comfortable. I would have been nervous/stressed the whole time, & it would have taken the joy away, so it wasn't worth it for me. It was a tough call though. Why does the British government allow so much of historical Scotland to fall into disrepair? The amount of derelict cathedrals etc like Arbroath Abbey ?

      That's a great question! We saw the Whitby Cathedral that is ruins now too, but also a paid experience to visit it and the museum (coming up in a couple of episodes), it makes me think it must be due to the reason that caused damage maybe war damage or something else as to why they are left that way. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

      @@OverlandExposure Just to clarify the UK should be minus 10 15 20 degrees the only reason it is not is because the Gulf Stream runs down the west coast we are only 250 miles off the Arctic cycle But I suppose that is why the UK is so lush and green we get a lot of rain instead of snow

    Airbnb and holiday homes are a major problem in some areas in the UK. They often smaller homes bought by people from outside the area who cab afford to pay more. Locals are being forced out small towns and villages as the prices of housing. Local amenities such as schools shops doctors are forced to close as the population of villages drop. Out if season many become ghost towns. Business find it hard to get staff. Some areas are now putting limits on the number of Airbnb and holiday let as they do more harm to communities than the revenue they bring. To be a responsible tourist, you should really consider purpose built accommodation rather than opting for the cheaper former homes of locals

      Holiday homes are a problem in areas all around the world, but if they are managed well by owners, councils, guests they can be a fantastic attribution to communities. It is all a balance and management. We travel full time and to a budget, having airbnb with our own kitchen and space for our daughter is much better for us as we couldn't travel full time with only hotels as our accommodation, it wouldn't work. We spend money in the community, share our adventures and bring life to everywhere we visit. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @OverlandExposure unfortunately in many places around the world, they have destroyed communities. The lack of effective measures to stop the tide of Airbnb has made the situation far worse. Many areas are now taking measures to restrict Airbnb heavily as any economic benefits are far outweighed by the harm they cause

    When thinking about British weather, you should always remember that UK is roughly at the same lattdute as the Hudson Bay and the Alaskan peninsula

      As Aussies, this doesn't mean much to me... I just know it's not known for the best weather! We do compare our latitude distance from the equator in the UK to places in Aus, just obviously north and south of it.

    Why would a family of 3 need a dishwasher?!? LOL. (By the way, are you sure there wasn't a washing machine behind one of those cupboard doors in the kitchen??). And too much whining about the weather - just enjoy the countryside. My best walks have been out in atrocious conditions! x

    • @OverlandExposure

      A dishwasher is a nice luxury but as I said in the vid no big deal, lived for many many years without one and still do. And yes, 100% sure there was no washing machine, I always look in every cupboard and behind every door, & double checked the listing. & The weather, it was beyond atrocious for summer and for weeks on end, we thought it was funny how bad it was.

    Wow, its really moving through Stainforth Focre, you can hardly see the 3 waterfall steps.And Ribblehead, where the HP train was 'meant' to be in the Film, as Glenfidich is way too far North...!!

      Yes, it's crazy! I was going to include a pic of what it was meant to look like so people could see the difference but forgot 🤦‍♀️ So why didn't they use Ribblehead for HP?

      Starlink Mini is a great option for less power and less space, even a little cheaper. We haven't tested it ourselves for effectiveness but we haven't heard any bad reports on it so we think it is another great option.

    You were charged a parking fee of 10K Dong, right? It's not free to park. Most of places, especially tourist attractions do. Lack of local knowledge on your part. Not a scam. 10K Dong is only US$0.60. What a big deal!!!These tourists say they spend a lot of money in Vietnam, but the cost of living is way cheaper than the home country. Convert Dong into your own currency. You will be ashamed for your ignorance.

    • @OverlandExposure
      @OverlandExposure Месяц назад

      Actually it is free to park at the main area. It's not the money, it's the scam. Dressed up as police and directing you into their private parking lot like they are an official so you pay them. No lack of local knowledge & no ignorance on our part. IT WAS A SCAMMER PRETENDING TO BE A POLICE OFFICER WHEN HE IS NOT!
