Appreciate the support!
Microclamp unreal, thanks for the video
No problem!
Had my throttle body reprogrammed thinking that would fix the issue. I’m gonna take a look at this and come back with results
Good luck, hope it works out!
Really good information here. Thanks for sharing this.
Crater thank you for all the knowledge that you have shared within the automotive community. I purchased my first pico scope 4 channel in 2004. Will be purchasing a new 4425A with the WPS 500 pressure transducer from autonerdz in a couple of weeks, it's been a hard decision between a picoscope and the ATS elite 8, again thank you
Thanks for reaching out, Awesome choice for a new scope and transducer. Autonerdz are great folks to deal with, they will help you anyway they can!
Wow great explanation. Captivating story about the clogged egr, too. I bet you were jumping up and down when you caught that 🎉
Yes I was, thanks for tuning in!!
I’m having codes p34c5 and p34c4 after changing timing chain. Idle surge but runs smoothly besides that. Any ideas what it may be?
I would try the electric valve timing actuator re learn. Its supposed to be done after t chain replacement
😃👍🏼👍🏼
I enjoy your tutorials. You are very perceptive in this industry.
As usual you are a great tech🥋
Appreciate it 👍
Great video thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it! 👍
Thank You as usual great tutorial
As I mentioned before, I’ve been tackling this intermittent issues for a long time and you, my friend are an inspiration To me as usual, thank you for sharing your knowledge, stay well warrior🥋
Short and sweet. Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
I troubleshoot and diagnose. All day long and I still. Find your tutorial videos a great source of knowledge thank you bro
I appreciate that!
Thank you as usual you. Are a great man bro 😎
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Hey Mike! I assume that you perform the diagnoses as a mobile technician at other workshops. Here in Germany, I also want to follow my passion for Car diagnosis and work together with workshops. Unfortunately, most workshops here are rather suspicious or sometimes have a false pride. Therefore, my service is often rejected. Did you initially have problems finding partner workshops? Do you have any tips for me? Thank you very much!!! BR Manuel
My biggest tip is charge for your time including travel. Be fair but firm, document everything to prove your time. I do very little mobile diagnostics anymore, I still have some contacts Nissan only though. The dealership keeps me busy 3 days week and I do a little bit of training for people. Giving my Snap on rep a stack of business cards for my services was the best way to get calls when I was doing alot of mobile stuff. Tool truck guys are like Google when shops need help with stuff.
Fantastic. This will help me out greatly with a customers 17 qx60 with same issue. Im hoping to find same connector corrosion.
Good luck. I hope it works out!
You got ats and picoscope
I have the ats escan not the e scope.
Great stuff. Been looking for a micro amp clamp. They are so expensive
Agreed, I lucked out and got mine used.
you mentioned terminating resistors .can you show us what to look for and find them
I seen this used by Adam Robertson an instructor from CTI. I looking to buy a micro amp and I found a cp07+ that is faster than that clamp that you using. I think the delay that you see it’s because it’s because the speed of the clamp. But great diagnosis and pico captures
Love it Carter...Love it!!!💯👌
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Why does the number 002 appear when I unplug the camera if this message comes from the camera?
It means I've gotta practice some more, and get a better understanding of what I'm looking at. I'm gonna look at those files again and try to get a little more clarification . My gut feeling is that the current ramp was still dropping, when the 002 message was sent, giving it the appearance it was my camera.
@@CartersDiagnostics What type of current clamp are you using in the video? Would TA018 also be able to measure such currents? Thank you for the video.
I have not tested the TAO18 yet. The clamp in the video is the AEMC K110
Happy Christmas 🎄 🎅 🎄,Carter's Diagnostics 👍 INTVITIVE,Carter's Diagnostics Take care,Sir From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧 ⏰️ 15:25 Good Afternoon
Same to you! I appreciate you checking in! Happy Christmas 🎄
Thank you ,I am picking up great knowledge because of you willingness to share yours. Blessings my man. HAPPY HOLIDAYS 💯
Glad to hear it! Happy Holidays to you 🎅🧑🎄
If you had a splice pack that was accessible you could isolate which module was pulling down the bus by using that u-amp clamp. Whichever wire has the highest current is likely the bad module.
@@ThePracticalMechanic Nice 👌 👍
From what I have learned is the lower the message ID is, the higher the priority/ authority the message has on the bus. That 002 message has priority so it got injected in the middle of your camera messages. We may be attending Vision again this year. We typically drive out. 9hr drive but then we have easy transport without getting a rental.
@@ThePracticalMechanic I have never been, Its on my list to do. I'm on the east coast so it would be a heck of a drive for me also. Thanks for adding to the conversation!
Once I hear that intro. I know it's going to be good. Man, what's up with these new cars failing so quickly. More moving parts, more faults. Plus, the customers are getting more and more impatient with the techs.
@@DJ-tn7vj 😅😅👍💪💪
You are unique. Thank you
Like intake valve is open all the time thos
Hello sir . Tje other thing that wasn’t mentioned on the video was the intake pocket is very deep as well . That’s not normal or it’s?
I think normal for this engine. It has variable valve lift and variable valve timing
I’ve gotten away from flat rate myself as well. I’m now salaried and love it. It’s one of the perks of being the guy they lean on. I work for a guy who owns multiple dealerships and I work on cars for all of them. I also save them a ton of money cloning and programming used modules etc.
Sounds like a great job, and working for someone that sees that value is cool.
I have seen the same pin fitment issues on a 2020 juke as well. Had to replace the MAF sensor wire pins at the PCM on one a while back. Absolutely zero drag on those pins. It had just been into the local Nissan dealership and had a new MAF and connector put on it.
Great catch!
That engine does some funky stuff with valve timing during cranking I guess. On that last capture with the known good cylinder it looks like the piston moves quite a ways down before the intake valve opens causing a lot of vacuum in the cylinder. It would certainly be nice for manufacturers to share info when they do stuff like that.
Its a strange pressure wave for sure. If I did not have a known good, It would have been more head scratching for sure.
Why did they have to ruin a good thing with pico 7. Some things it does ok but it’s buggy as hell and I don’t like it. They should’ve at least kept the waveform library available for pico 6 🤬
My 2004 Maxima has 143000 miles and it seems to be stuck in limp mode: goes into 5th gear when put into drive, and jerks when put in reverse. It started intermittently but now it is permanent. The «Service Engine Soon» light is off. Is this a «limp mode» case? Some checks and part replacements around the transmission have been made, with no success. Shall I try to go for a general cleaning of all 4 Hub bearings? What do you think?
Good one, Mr Carter. Appreciate it as always. One thing i ran into about this motor. If you have a dip in voltage/ current with this unit, it may flag a code for open or short VVt cam circuit.
Good to know👍 Thanks
Yes sir. Definitely great strategy. You are a unique tech🥋
Appreciate it, glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Thank You And This Are Great Tech Tips, For All Us in The Diagnostics World, We apréciate you🥋
Thanks! 🙏
The way you explain the trouble shooting and diagnosis is superb. My respect. Thank you
Sometimes I think I talk to much 😄
In my book not enough. Knowledge is contagious if you talk and listen. 🥋as a fellow tech you are right on point ,I always assimilate pointers. That help me on my daily challenges .
Great video Mike. What do you mean when you say back probe “lightly” are there specific ways to do that? Im guessing you mean keep yourself grounded with a cable to bat neg. Is there more ?
Just beware of the "explosive" circuits, Be conscious of their location when back probing near them so not to set a bag off accidentally. That's all I meant by the statement.
You are a great educator. I have been working on the troubleshooting and diagnostic industry for quite a while. And with your help I have realized there is always room for improvement. Blessings. Bud 🥋💯🙏
