The 2 handed sword talisman doesnt affect skills. I never actually had trouble with Rakshasa, even her skill. I wish mimic killed Messmer for me. I had to switch to Tiche. And she died instantly.

I loved SotE on my first time playing it, but I agree that it's not GotY worthy, even setting aside that it's DLC. I think that if there was a DLC category for rewards, sure SotE would win I can see that, but taking away a GotY slot for voting just seems equivalent to saying your favorite ice cream is hot fudge drizzle topping because it makes the base ice cream taste good.

With Placi’s laser, if you can move yourself towards the wall during the fight, then get right up against the wall as he does the flying attack that leads into the laser, you should be able to roll through his swoop and (most of the time) you will find yourself behind him as he does the laser - both avoiding the attack and giving you a free punish window

I'm not sure why you fight every enemy with lock on. It restricts your movement considerably and doesn't give you that much. As for the ASS, yeah it's meh of a weapon. I tried it, it wasn't particularly bad or good, just meh.

The Astora Straight sword is a unique kinda weapon. It has truly changed in DS3... it now scales with luck, and the more hollow you are and high luck you have it is a competent weapon, with some strange effects...

Wasn't the ASS nerfed at some point? I remember hearing that it got nerfed at some point and was once actually good, but I'm not certain

Im a little biased on this weapon because I used this for my faith build, ran to it and got down to the geat hollow to grind enough twinkling to get it to max before fighting my second boss

The worst part is faith gets outscaled by a divine longsword

Grab pyro with a key Go down from the shrine and grab Astora's Grab yourself the Black knights halberd from Dark Root (Literally Restart your playthrough if he doesn't drop it) Grab Havels ring Start killing skeletons (holy kills skeletons I.e. ASTORA's) until you get your ability to make bonfires better Then go and run like hell till you kill mr red hood with the key Grind till you can wield the halberd Go unlock the gates to the flooded city "Riiiight Sif" :'D I forgot too. Fall down the hole and kill the boss Join the Dark Side Did I mention you can do all that without ever meeting the dragon? Astora's sword is there purely to give you holy damage to kill skeletons early game and facilitate your dark run.

Idk when you say WORST weapon in the game, I'm thinking Snipers Crossbow, Hammer of Vamos, Ghost Blade, Drake Sword (unless you spam R2 and use a ton of repair on it lmao), or the most obvious one, the Whip. Honorable mention to the Caestus but it is pretty fun if you dual wield them as a challenge run. Astora SS in both DS1 & DS3 is pretty fine of a weapon, has exceptionally high damage but scales really poorly, in DS3 has an amazing moveset for SS which makes it great in PVP usage too.

the Astora's Straight Sword is not all bad with a faith build in ds 1 but in ds 3 its really bad even with infusing it with lightning used it until after I killed twin princes

I heard about the chest’s chain trick, so when I encountered my first mimic I attacked it first and won without too much trouble. I’d thought “no way these are as bad as people say” then proceeded to get completely spanked by the next one 😂 Edit: forgot this is the first game. I was playing ds3 🤷‍♂️

I would be fine that this is a challenge run and not a breakdown like the title indicates, if you bothered to instead of trying to be witty about how good you are, taking the time with the gameplay of the run in the background, to explain why it’s bad and not just a vague “low damage and scaling”.

i wouldn't consider dropping down the ledges in catacombs a "skip" because it leads to a summon sign for paladin leeroy (the long drop to the skeleton wheel area). you bypass the intended route, but fromsoft surely created these ledges on purpose.

Umm this video is just very poorly made in a few ways: 1) the title is misleading: so it's actually a challenge run/weapon-showcase rather than an video-essay explanation of why the ass is bad, right? but the title seems way more like it's going to be an explanation 2) if viewed as an explanation: this video doesn't really really explain why ass is bad. the damage doesn't seem high, but so what? what makes the weapon so especially bad it's video-worthy? There's no really any info about this. It's not structured with different reasons and arguments and instead follows the experience of a playthrough so it really isn't an explanation video. 3) if viewed as a challenge run: the video gives no effort in trying to present the challenge as challenging. It's DS1, one of the most challenge-run popular games. We've seen people do all kinds of crazier stuff than this so of course you can beat the game with ass. No one is ever thinking otherwise. 4) if viewed as a weapon showcase: if so we'd expect to see either 1) gameplay encounters that show how bad ASS is, by showing you how it fares terribly against certain bosses or comparing its utilities (damage, reach, requirement...) against other weapons, but that's not happening (if anything, a few boss fights make the weapon seem fairly decent, nothing strong but not particularly bad either), or 2) builds that show you how to best utilize this terrible weapon to its maximum potential, and this video isn't exactly doing that either. 5) if viewed entirely as a joke video: it's not very funny... The title and intro makes it seem a lot more serious than a joke video, and there's not really a lot of funny jokes. The "jokes" if any are more like minorly humorous descriptions of what's happening on screen rather than anything that would be funny on their own. If you want joke videos about souls game check out Rusty or Lost My Sanity, their ranking videos or safety inspection videos wouldn't have you questioning what the purpose of the video is, since safety-inspecting a castle in a souls game is obviously not something you do purely for the gameplay or the lore. Here however, discussing the utility of a weapon is very gameplay oriented and thus inherently doesn't feel as funny. It's just a very confused video. Perhaps it's better to commit to one of these directions rather than having a strange mix of all of them...

if you don't want to fight bosses why make the video? why not just skip everything entirely?
