Magnificent! One of the funniest comedians of all time! Bob Newhart R.I.P. 🌷🌷🇬🇧
Came across him in TBBT great comedy timing, now going through his stuff RIP
Listened to this with my dad, he had the 'record'. I'm 67 now and listening to this I'm back with my dad in the late sixties. Happy days.
After all these years i still love it
Came across Bob Newhart recently on the big bang theory as Professor Proton. His sublime delivery as the driving instructor was only equalled by his deadpan performance as Professor Proton. Rest in peace you bought so much joy to many people with your consummate acting prowess!
It was so sad that we lost a comic legend 😢; who was hilarious, funny as heck, and did all this with no profanity and used a phone or pretended to use one as his routine ! My favorite routine is where he's doing a monolog about training new bus drivers ! And explaining the differences between an ordinary bus driver and a really, great bus driver ! Living in the Northwestern Pacific, I 👀 see lots of people travel by bus and added a few lines of my own to his classic routine to some RUclips channel posting about 1-2 years ago. A few commented on what I added and said they'd had similar experiences either waiting for the 🚌 ; boarding the bus or running after a bus ! My experiences on the bus included playing " The Banker ; And Who's Got exact Change for the Bus Fare ? " As you can probably guess, I had the dubious task or honor of breaking down larger bills into smaller denominations and then carrying around pockets full of coins to break that money down even further! Now here's where it gets interesting trying to carry pockets filled with obvious coins that people can hear while trying to dodge bums hitting you up for " Spare Change ! " Lots of fun at rush hour when everybody gets off work and don't want to be bothered !
I'm a driving instructor, and I love this. One of my driving students left this cd in my car and had this only playing on the cd. What a treat
He blew it by saying paper and "cigarette"
When I need a laugh he always delivers.
I don't expect many people to have even heard of this absolute Legend of a comedian. The only thing I need to say is Google Bob Newhart, Driving Instructor, and listen to one of the greatest comedy sketches that I've ever heard. R.I.P. Bob Newhart 😥😥
My late father loved Bob Newhart and his wonderful anecdotes. I was saddened to learn of his passing. RIP Bob and thank you for the memories.
So saddened to hear of Bob's death, he really was a comic genius. My English teacher, the great Stephen McKenna, (Omagh CBS) introduced the class to Bob Newhart when he brought in and played one of Bob's albums. This was 50 yrs ago. 😪
In a society that sometimes seems to value aggressiveness above all else, Bob Newhart spun meekness and hesitancy into comedic gold. RIP
RIP
Once there was a man on tv talking about his mental breakdown. He said his mental health went down hill after he got a job as a driving instructor. I think Bob Newhart was on the money with this track .RIP Bob
This is, quite possibly, the BEST comedy monologs in history. The "Button Down Mind" album came out in 1961 and it was the first album I ever bought. I still have it,
Pure genius. Listened to this with my Dad here in UK in the 1950’s. Made me laugh then and still now at the age of 79. Just wonderful
I'm from England 🇬🇧 and my dad played this sketch years ago! Absolutely hysterical! In a class of his own! R.I.P. Bob 🌷🌷
My Dad was a driving instructor, he knew this piece by heart. He killed it every time he did it, blessed with actual experience. Dad also did a good job of Ray Stevens' "The Day I Tried To Teach Charlene McKenzie How To Drive". R.I.P. Dad, and Bob
My Grandad introduced me to this when I was barely in double digits. I recognised the voice but not the name since I was so young. He was howling with laughter but I didn’t really get it at the time. But I still remembered the clip when I actually started driving. This is how comedy is actually made through the genius of description and implied situation. An absolute classic.🙌🏽
This is a sexist post ! 😦
First time I heard this was in driver's ed in high school in the eighties. Huge respect to our teacher who knew quality humor! RIP to an amazing comedian.
Listened to this with my friend Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl. RIP legend
thankyou bob for great memorys rip
Listened to this several years ago, and my father made my son listen to this when he started his lessons. When my son passed his test last year, we listened again to this and remembered my dad. Such a funny man. Rest in peace.
Bob Newhart represents so much of our mid century American culture. I am sad he is gone, but his sardonic humor will live on! Rest in peace Bob! Condolences to the Newhart family.
I haven't heard this skit from Bob Newhart in a very long time. Still hilarious! My Dad had some of his records. RIP BOB! You're probably already cracking 'em up upstairs!
Favorite comedian of my mom and dad. This album is still in my dad's collection at my mom's house. Still love his dry humor. Listening this morning brings back so many memories.❤😂
This was a staple of high school driver's ed classes everywhere, including my own...
The don. RIP.
I remember my dad having a Bob newhart cassette in his car,as a youngster many years ago I laughed..still laughing now brilliant
So so funny ...
RIP Bob Newhart one of the most unlikely but funniest men I have ever seen. Just found and dusted off my revered copy of "The Best of Bob Newhart!" and enjoying it all over again.
My favourite all time.
Comedic genius. RIP Bob.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I saw him on tv when I was 15. Went out the next day and bought his LP The Button down Mind of Bob Newhart. I'm 78 now and I can still quote lines from the driving instructor to this day. RIP Bob, you made me laugh for over 60 years.
Rest In Peace Mr. Bob Newhart! I trust that you're in Heaven still teaching our Mom, Dorothy Webb how to drive just as you did in the mid 1960's when you first tried. :-D
My dad loved this sketch. Before he passed, I played it for him and laughed so hard he cried. One of my fondest memories of my dad at the end
Mine too. Me and my late dad listened to these on his gramophone (remember those kids?) back in the 70s. Great memories.
rip bob
As a teenager, I remember listening to his Driving School Instructor routine on an LP (record player). We laughed till we cried. He was so funny!! I’m sad to know he’s gone.
50 years of Mr Newhart in my life, since a new bride at 19, listening to his album my ex had. I watched every show he was in. May you rest in sweet peace, sir, and thank you for the many laughs.
Rest in Peace Bob Newhart.
Loved his timing...not in a hurry to get to any part of the joke, no matter how absurd it is.
my fave from a wonderful comedian. RIP BOB
RIP Bob ❤ thanks for the laughs!
RIP Bob Newhart
Rest in peace, legend ❤
Love this, this is the first time I’ve heard the skit. My husband told me about it. Perfect timing ❤ #ripbobnewhart
RIP Bob…. You were a genius.
The sad passing of a legend 😊❤️
RIP the great Bob Newhart😢
