Slow Living Day in the Life - Solo Hike, Meals, Puzzle, Book, Country Drive

Join me for my peaceful Saturday... the perfect day for my autistic brain. I enjoyed breakfast in solitude by the river, an invigorating hike, a beautiful country drive through part of the Trail of Tears, saw the progress on my daughter and son-in-law's new house, ate simple plant-based meals, started a new puzzle, and more. #slowliving #dayinthelife #actuallyautistic #solohiking #sabbath

In this video I share a few things that got done last Monday, July 28, 2024. The basil slips were reading to pot, the dogs went for a walk, blueberries went into the freeze dryer, fresh corn was processed and frozen, an old favorite soup was made (potato soup with uncured turkey bacon), and leftovers had a makeover and then were stored in the freezer for a few easy freezer meals. Welcome! Elizabeth & her German garden is wonderful, especially if you enjoy writing about flowers and gardens. So is Cranford, which also fits the "form" prompt, because it's connected short chapters/stories rather than a continuos novel.

    What a lovely discovery to find your channel. You may have solved a long held mystery of mine. As a young teenager I read a book which has resurfaced now I am much older, and would like to rediscover. I think it could well be Alida Sims Malkus book, Through the Wall. I cannot find it in the UK, so it may be, I will make a purchase through Amazon US. The imagery I have is a couple of children hiding in ruins of a bombed building while a german soldier searches the rooms. I am hopeful. It is amazing how stories can stay within us, long after we have read them. I wish you well in the success of your channel, and I look forward to future videos. I have subscribed

I was a little bit confused, so, I hope this is what I heard: PORRIDGE SEASONING ½ c cinnamon ¼ cup nutmeg 2T cardamom 2T ginger 2T fennel (don't use it if you do not like it) USE: 2 tsp per serving ===== TACO SEASONING ½ c dry onion ¼ c paprika 3T chili powder 2T salt 2T garlic granules 1T cumin 1T oregano ½T cayenne pepper USE: 2T per pound of ground beef ¼ c water ===== NO SALT CHILI POWDER 1c paprika ¼ c garlic ¼ c cayenne pepper ¼ c dried onion 3T cumin ===== TUSCAN HEAT SPICE ½ c basil ¼ c oregano ¼ c rosemary ¼ c garlic granules 1T cayenne pepper OR red pepper flakes 2T fennel

      Back in school - amazing! What are you studying? I study various things at home just out of curiosity, but in September I start an online course for the language I've been trying to learn - Gàidhlig / Scots Gaelic. I'm looking forward to more official instruction and actual communication. I'm actually sick right now ... boooo. But still "holding my exercise spot" in my routine so I don't get out of the habit. Each morning during my usual exercise time I just do as much as I can and call it good enough. This morning it was a bit pathetic, probably because I did too much in the kitchen yesterday. 😅 I have a kitchen video in the works. Have a great day!

    Why don't u leave it in the jar it's made in? Or make it in a smaller receptacle that the blender fits through the mouth of?

    • @SlowLivingWithAutism
      @SlowLivingWithAutism 3 месяца назад

      I don't leave it in the jar it's made in because it has too much air space. Less air space means less oxygen, and that helps with proper food storage. I don't make it in a smaller jar because it splashes up or spatters while blending and I'd rather not have to clean up the random spatters that fly on to the surrounding area (counter top, cabinet door, etc.). I hope that answers your questions - thanks for watching.

    I'm autistic too and I totally understand the different walking experiences. I don't live in the US, so the social rules are a little bit different here, but every time I walk somewhere just to wander I feel slightly illegal lol. Unfortunately I don't have any big parks near me, but whenever I go out of town with my family and I can walk in a forest, or around some lake, with no one around me, that's just the peak walking experience. Fortunately, if I walk through the same route in the city enough times, it stops feeling weird. Thank you for making this video! I really enjoyed it!

Aldi usually has some good choices, too. Most of the packaged food here is full of preservatives and chemicals, so I avoid them. I wish we had a robust farmers market nearby!! I'd prefer local.
