Christchurch is insane for Fish and Chips shops. a lot are really close as well.

It is pretty tough. My body is hurting from my time yesterday.

@Spartanrodzilla there is a couple of good kid areas, and I'm sure you can be allowed to have a go as well. It will really put your fitness to the test.

Yeah, we all really need to fight to make things better for everyone. It is awful being on a long waiting list regardless of if your are public or private.

I'm not sure. Apparently there was another event near the Bridge of Remembrance, but it wasn't on their list of places the protests were happening.

Well I can only say that I have no idea. I have spent a good hour going over it and can't figure it out, even trying to do the numbers and inputs incorectly I can't get to that number, but I remember getting it so vividly. I want to thank you for pointing this out, I usually try to go over my numbers and triple check but this must have slipped by me somehow.

@gnomevoyeur Lucky, I had a pretty bad education, and it is still giving me a hard time. Trying to learn a lot on the fly haha.

Yeah I really need to work on my thumbnails, it is the one things I just don't feel like I am getting better at.

@ProjectFrugal Haha, never underestimate what I can miss. I found it on Google maps and saved it to my list. I haven't been to Westport, looks quite scenic, is there anything there you would reccomend?

I was in Westport 3 or so years ago. That cafe was great.

In Janurary I had a couple of freinds over, one who is living in Austrailia and bought a friend of his over (who hadn't been to NZ before). I got us all a Fish and a Hot Dog each and a few scoops of chips that we sat around like it was a bonfire - had an open can of tomato sauce to share around. We just sat on the ground and ate and laughed, and I was told that NZ FnC is was better than it's Aus counter part which was great.

@WanderingNewZealand ...you see? Even you know the best place to eat chips ☺️ with friends. You can't forget the tomato sauce, either!

I always believe doing things with friends and loved ones is better than doing something alone.

@@AnotherWanderingKiwiyessssss!!!! We did that when we were kids. Either our friends came over to our house and we would sit in the games room with a big load of fish and chips on newsprint paper in the middle of everyone or we would go to their place on a Friday night. So good!!!!! Good childhood memories here in NZ.

Christchurch falls down, Kaikoura goes up - seems fair I guess?

Unfortunatly that is the nature of the beast we are dealing with at the moment, everything is going up except the wages (of middle and lower class). I'm mainly glad that the quality hasn't dipped, at least at the places I frequent.

Another commenter mentioned the Doghouse, makes me sad I never got to go there. But now I think someone has to come up with a Fish and Chip parlor called 'The Bird Cage' or something.

They closed quite some time ago didn't they? There really need to be more places like Dig House and Big Gary's that are open late for the party people.

@@AnotherWanderingKiwi Lots of drunk people looking for food or video games makes for a few aggro customers in the joint. Nothing else open once the pubs and movies were closed.

@@urizen7613 Ah, that really sucks, always a few bad apples that spoils the bunch right. I might look into this more one day, from what ive seen from photos it looks pretty interesting, thank you for bringing it up! If you have any other info or stories about it I will gladly hear them.

See I do go on break, but I usually make them really long and a lot of that isn't always filled with excitement, so it can be a bit of a waste. Then I have the rest of the year to wait for another good break.
