Catching Largemouth Bass With a Buzzbait | Lunchtime Casts Ep. 1 | Iowa Public Fishing
Просмотров 985 месяцев назад
Hey everybody! I'm starting a new mini-series called Lunchtime Casts, where when I have a break midday I'll take about 15-20 minutes to try a little fishing near my home on some public waters. I'm not expecting this to be a daily, weekly, or even a monthly series. I'll upload as time allows! Let me know in the comments if this is something you'd enjoy watching!
Did I catch the world's smallest crappie?

Hey hey everybody! I did some fishing this past week on Juneteenth and went to a spot I frequent behind the dam at Lake Red Rock. Overall it was a very slow day of fishing with very few bites, but I did manage to catch the smallest crappie that I've ever seen. LOL. Hope you enjoy this quick little video!

Giant Missouri buck | bachelor group crossed the road in front of me | Summer 2022

I took this video during the summer of 2022. A bachelor group of bucks crossed the road in front of me and I immediately recognized one of them was a giant typical 10 point. I didn’t get my phone camera rolling until they took off, but I got a good look at this buck at about 20 yards broadside. Easily would score in the mid-170s.
Archery Practice on First Day of Spring | Bear Species Compound Bow | Iowa

Hey everyone! Turkey season is right around the corner so I picked up my bow to shoot a few groups at 20 yards. How often do you practice? I used to shoot at least 10-20 arrows per day, but I've definitely scaled back on that. Feel free to leave feedback in the comments on your shooting habits, or even my shooting form (always looking to improve!).

    Man, you got a good deal for sure. Great rig. Public land hunts can be very challenging so congratulations on the kills. Especially while ground hunting. As an ancient bow hunter I noticed it looks like you are punching the thumb button. Some call a slow punch a command but is it a command or a punch. The difference is real and very minute IMO. And I long ago if one can set up the thumb so all you need to do is pull straight back the downrange result is generally a lot better. Especially at ranges you aren’t real comfortable with. It eliminates the conscious act of having to switch your focus from the target mentally to “ time to move my thumb”. Your brain is jumping back and forth with thoughts on timing the shot, moving the thumb and trying to keep the pin floating on the target. There are several good videos on good ways to setup and use a thumb. “ bow only outdoors “ has learning vids that are excellent. “ whitetail fit” has a vid on his technique. Personally, my thumb is setup with no travel but enough tension I can put my thumb on it without fear of firing. I have to create thumb pressure by pulling straight back. Just saying this style works for me very well, hunting or target shooting. 👍👍🔥

      Man I really appreciate the feedback! I switched to a thumb button several years ago after battle severe target panic issues with an index style release aid. It was so bad that I couldn't hit a target at 20 yards, my pin would always lock way below the target. The thumb button has brought my confidence back and I'll for sure work on the things you talked about!! Looking back on the bow purchase, it definitely felt like a steal for $650. I'm so happy with it!

      @. Want to say I’ve had TP so I know the aggravation. But if you will work seriously you can gain 100% control and when you really know the feeling it’s almost unbelievable. EVERYTHING just falls into place and shooting is like 200% more enjoyable because there is ZERO ANXIETY!

    These people were actually fine. They handled it very well. Read the body language of the elk. The people were already outside. The elk saw them & decided to pass anyway. The people didnt confront or approach the elk & they had no assertive body language. (Watch the tourons at Yellowstone for a contrast...). The people were just moving slowly around & talking quietly. Each group knew the other was there. Nobody was worried. No harm, no foul...

      @@cindyrissal3628 thank you for this comment, and it’s exactly what I’ve been trying to explain to people. We were just outside the cabin’s door when the herd of cows calmly came by. The bull approached from behind us on the north side of the cabin and we had no idea he was there. Many of us froze, and grandma got the baby out of sight. In no way were we one of those people you see on the news that try to get as close as they can to them.

    👍👍. I really love just a leisurely time poking 3-d targets. No scoring pressure like at an ASA. WAS that 384 on 400? 40 targets? I did notice you were punching the button it appeared? I don’t know for sure. Anyway, was gonna suggest you might watch “ bow only outdoors “ and check out his thumb button setup and use video. His technique is spot on. Basically, all you need to do is get the knob in the best position for your thumb to ride on it in the joint comfortably and just pull straight back like your wanting the elbow to move backwards. The little rotation will happen automatically and it will fire. There’s no conscious thought about needing to move the thumb.

    • @brentbarnetthunting
      @brentbarnetthunting 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment! That was a 384 out of 480. 40 targets with 12 rings. And good catch! I definitely jump back and forth between a surprise release and punching the button, something I've struggled with since I was a teenager. I used to have SEVERE target panic when I was younger and nearly gave up archery because I was embarrassed in front of others and couldn't even hit a target at 20 yards. I'll definitely look up that channel you recommended!

      @@brentbarnetthunting I go thru spells where I am guilty of not pulling thru properly. It’s not a true punch type thing but I know the shot broke differently. I just have to make sure and say to myself “ pull pull pull” and everything goes good. I’ve been using the Carter wise choice for several years almost exclusively. The part I like about it is I don’t have to move any hand parts, just pull while my focus is downrange where it’s supposed to be. People don’t know that the brain can’t do two conscious commands at the same time. You have to pick and when you pick “ it’s time to move my thumb or index finger “ you have lost your focus downrange. And in that microsecond the pin can and usually does move off target more than the normal floating pattern. When learning to , training the brain, just pull you have already begun to do that basically automatically and at the same your focus is on the spot you want to hit. Your training has taught itself to just be pulling until it goes off. At least that’s what I’ve learned about this.
