I have a question. There is a debate about the hose in the bottle. Some fill the bottle with an inch or two of brake fluid to suck fluid back into the tube eliminating bubbles. Others use no fluid as you did. I have always used some fluid in the jar which is correct
Considering this unit for easier oil changes for our little fleet
❤finally have the adapters for Honda /Acura
I bought this tool thinking it may help me. Well, it didn't. I tried all that was suggested, even greasing the bleeder. Nothing worked so I bled the the bike the old school way. Harbor Freight will get it back.
20 years of use and I never knew what those 2 short clear bottle tubes were used for.
What would you use to clean the reservoir when you dispense a different type of fluid or do you actually need to clean it?
You can clean the reservoir with a good quality degreasing soap, rinse, then allow to dry. Generally, most engine oils with similar characteristics don't need to perform more than a simple wipe-down. If moving to/from a transmission fluid or brake fluid as an example, the reservoir needs to be fully cleaned and dried prior to adding the new fluid type, and the tubing will need to be flushed. We recommend having a separate reservoir and dispensing hoses dedicated to brake fluid and other specialty fluids to limit contamination issues. ~ John
I have this exact kit, works well but the case that it comes in is poorly made and mine has fallen apart, I wish it came in a better case.
Thank you for showing me.
I been using mighty for years do it right it works great. Old school always grease the brake fittings. I had 3 uncles mechanics gone now taught me old school ways……..
what pressure should be on the gauge when pulling? You said a little?
Hi Jeff, you talked about applying grease on the valve. Won't the grease seep in and contaminate the brake fluid?
Quick question: why do all the fittings that come with a brake bleed vacuum fall apart when they conta t brake fluid? Assholes
I bought the MV6830 25 years ago and the MV7300 in 2018..Both are wonderful tools. For the MV6830 I made adapters to keep the air from leaking into the bleeders.
One of the most important points in this video, ask me how I know, is to leave the master cylinder cap loose!! Otherwise you can pump forever and never get any fluid through the lines! Also, I had much better luck with the little pointed adaptors that just stick in the bleeder. And, I found that a couple rounds of teflon tape on the threads of the bleeder works better than grease, and not as messy. :) Good video and great product! I think I am going to add a magnetic hook on mine for some hands free help. ;)
The L adapters in the kit do not make a tight seal on the brake bleeder screws; is there another way to remedy this ??? Thanks!!
Thank you, extremely great and to the point video.
Well, once I’m done bleeding the big brake kit on my 2015 Infiniti Q70L. I will come back and leave you all a review on how it went. I’ve had this mighty vac for a while and purchased it at O’Reilly’s for a great price. I have used it to bleed my clutch on my 2006 Pontiac GTO since I do have a speed bleeder line for the clutch assembly.
Just got this kit, while pumping the pin on the handle fell out.
I'm sorry to hear that, the pin can be reinserted into the pinhole on the plunger shaft, and the handle reattached. Add a drop or two of thin air tool oil down the nozzle and cycle a few times slowly. This should prevent the issue from occurring again. ~ John
@@mityvactools OK, thanks. I will give that a try.
my master top is rectangular
we offer 2 adapters that will fit rectangular reservoirs, MVA811(for smaller reservoirs) and the MVA812(For larger reservoirs. ~ John
Thank you that was a nice video I found it very helpful
Great video.
These are nice kits. I've also used it check manifold vacuum for a few years. Thanks for outlining which accessories to use for brake bleeding.
That's what my wife is for 😂 I bought one of those manual pumps but the problem I had was the hose to valve connection leaking air or air getting sucked in from outside and I didn't want to bother with having to coat everything with grease or something just to seal that connection. Having someone pump and hold the brakes takes no time and I don't have to deal with crappy hose to valve connections. I guess if you really can't get another person to help or do a lot of brake bleeds these things are worth it. But I didn't see mention of how sealed your hose to valve connection was? What if it's not secure.....how do you seal it to prevent external air from being pulled in from the vacuum? Good video though 😊
My Toyota has a push on rubber cap on the brake mastrr cylinder reservoir so I think it woild just pop off under pressure
we offer either a locking style adapter(MVA800) or a cone style adapter(MVA809 or MVA810) that is chained to the reservoir to allow for pressure to build in the non threaded cap style reservoirs. ~John
Why create a mess with grease? Back to the drawing board.
Greasing the threads of the bleed screw has been an old-school method for years to prevent air bleed by of the loose thread. Many have also opted to using a small amount of thread tape or paste instead. any of these options can work to provide added sealing. ~ John
This is the 7105 correct? Thanks
Correct, the reservoir unit is the MV7105. Also shown is the longer dipstick tube out of the MVA578 to pull the oil from the pan. ~ John
Love MityVac products, but at $350 for the kit, this thing is overpriced. The Motive, while manual, will be about 1/3 the price even after buying a couple of adapters. And it works perfectly fine.
Our MV7100 Series units are capable of both pressure dispensing and evacuation in one reservoir unit. Compare that to Motive, which has one unit for evacuation and one for dispensing. The MV7840 is one of many kit options we offer. In this case we configured the MV7840 kit shown in this video with our pressure brake adapters. This kit can be expanded by purchasing extra reservoirs, adapters and tubes to perform a variety of fluid handling tasks centered around the base evacuation and dispensing unit. ~John
what’s the difference with the Elite model?
The Elite model hand pump model MV8510 which is used in the MV8500 kit has the ability to create vacuum and generate pressure. Compare that to our MV8000 kit with only creates a vacuum. More capabilities with the MV85000 Kit and the MV8510 hand pump. ~John
fucking rookie mistake man . always do the fill plug first
I have vacuum from the bottom hose up to the shark bite on the lid, but from there I don’t get anything. I have removed the lid and cleaned it. I don’t understand what the plunger under the lid is for.
The plunger under the lid is a high level shut off to prevent fluid from entering the line to the venturi. there should be a rubber seal the plunger contacts, this should be an open port until the plunger closes this passage. ~John
I need some of the attachments where can I get them
The second time I used this tool the small part that goes through the top of the pump rod & secures the handle broke in the middle of the job!
You're lucky! Mine fell apart the first time I used it - lasted all of 2 bleed nipples whilst bleeding my truck before it fell apart. Same issue that you had - Mityvac couldn't have been less interested. Avoid.
Great video
How many master cylinder adapters does it come with? Are adapters interchangeable with 1966 mustang, 1970 Mercedes 450 sl, 1981 ford F100, 1970 Riviera and 2001 ford escape? Thx
There are 8 adapters in the kit that cover a wide range of vehicles and should cover many of those you have listed. Additionally, we offer separately two rectangular adapters to fit older large top reservoirs. Adapters are the MVA811 and MVA812. ~ John
I'd like to see how to do this on a 2018+ Subaru WRX STI...
I bought one about 15 years ago through an advertisement in the back of a magazine. I tried it multiple times and I couldn’t get it to work. With shipping about $60 wasted. I threw it in the trash can. I’m not making this up.
Any regrets?
@@mikeprice8307 Yeah I should have called the company to see if they would send me another one, instead of throwing it away.
MityVac is an excellent product as well as that SFD desiccant air dryer seen mounted on your garage wall
What do you think is the smallest air compressor I can use to operate this extractor?
I have seen these run off 10gallon compressors before. Users generally needed to watch for the fluid to begin moving indicating a vacuum formed before shutting off valve to prevent the compressor from quickly depleting or constantly running. typically though a decent sized tank(20 gallon +) with a high CFM output motor is recommended. To run these units, a compressor that can generate 4.5 - 5 CFM or more will typically work just fine. You can run the MV7300 off a lower volumed compressor, however constant throttling and monitoring of the compressor is necessary. ~ John
Even the smallest air compressor will work. You could probably even use a 12V tire inflator except that the connector on the end has to be a Universal Coupler, and not a tire inflator connector that is permanently attached to most 12V small tire inflators. I currently use a Makita 1 gal tank air compressor and it works fine.
Very good explained
Does the lid of the bottle come off?
Yes, it is a twist off. We offer different reservoir sizes to fit your needs.
@@mityvactools fantastic i will find a seller of your tools because that is incredibly useful. Can use that for clean fluid storage for repeat repairs or weird one off fixes on top of all your listed uses. Love it!
Does this create pressure? I dont need vaccum. I need pressure for leak testing an outboard lower unit at 10psi
The MV8000 unit creates vacuum only. Our MV8500 creates both vacuum and pressure.
Just put a small tie on the bleeder valve
Thank you for this educational video keep the videos coming. I really enjoy learning and watching your videos.
Thank you for the great video, I really like my Mityvac system.
How do i test needle and seat on a 2 barrel carter bbd? vacum or pressure?, is there adapters included to hook up to it? My 1985 d150 wasw running fine now it wont start and fuel is spitting out of the top of carb
Do you sell replacement tanks? I’d like to have one for dispensing oils and a second for brake fluid. I’m concerned with possible cross contamination of the fluids. Not so much an issue with power steering and tranny, but gear lube to brake….. Or do you have a cleaning recommendation that you feel should do a good enough job
Yes, we sell the tanks separately for this very reason! All you have to do is swap the threaded top. reservoir size options include: MVA574 - 2.5L MVA575 - 1.2 gallon (5L) MVA572 - 2.5 gallon (10L) MVA573 - 5.3 gallon (20L)
Don't waste your money. Get speed bleeders for about 18 bucks per pair. I use a 10 buck motorcycle clutch one-way bleeder.. no second person need..
This needs to include a tight clamp where the hose slips onto the bleeder valve. (Please don't suggest customers go out and find/buy one somewhere.) Nothing I tried -- the suggested grease included -- prevented air from being sucked in between the hose and the bleeder valve. It's now sitting on a shelf, money and time wasted.
My experience as well
What I did was slip the hose onto the bleeder valve and then install a zip tie around it so there is a very tight seal. Hopefully this helps and prevents your tool from just sitting on the shelf as wasted money. Have a good day.
I did that as well, but air still is sucked in via the valve threads. It's why pressure to push out the fluid and air works, and why sucking it out fails.
Should never have to use grease on threads of the bleeding valves, there is good chance the grease residue will get into the the brake lines & will contaminate the brake fluid, a bleeder valve should only be opened at max 1/4 turn only, as for using a hand pump is something I never use I am old school no need for these vacuum pumps.
Teflon tape! Easy peasy!
So i recently bought one from a tool dealer. My GM adaptor 803 keeps leaking from the back side when pressurized. I have a friend that has the same adapters and used his 803, still leaks. Tired the other gm adapter and it does not fit. The master cylinder is brand new OEM. '05 2500Hd silverado. My first time using this specific bleeder, is ot suppose to have a gasket besides the O-Ring? Thanks again 👍 i love the bleeder and dont want to have to return it.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the 803 adapter. The o-ring is the only seal on this adapter and seals internally in the neck of the master cylinder reservoir. while a rare occurrence, please check the inside cylinder of the reservoir for any imperfections such as a seam or deformed plastic that could create an area where the o-ring would not seal against. The only other possibility is a damaged o-ring on the adapter. Please reach out to our tech service department for any additional troubleshooting or warranty questions. Contact our technical support team: Phone: 1-844-772-1341 Email: Lincoln.Tech.Service@skf.com ~John
I am starting to notice that factory service manuals for modern cars require a second person to pump the brake pedal WHILE the power/ pressure bleeder is connected and the bleeder nipple open, In other words the classic pump and hold method is added on the regular pressure bleeding process which is confusing, I always thought that pressure bleeding does not require any movement from the master cylinder, and that two person pump and hold sequence is only for the classic manual bleeding process, but factory service manuals are very specific about it , what's your thoughts on this?
Thank you for the comment. This is a new method for me. Our understanding is that in some cases newer vehicles with ABS may need a scan tool attached to activate the system to bleed the pump and accumulator. We are constantly trying to improve our tool lineup, is there any way you could send us this procedure and what vehicles this pertains to? Feel free to send to Lincoln.tech.service@skf.com and make a note to forward it to the Mityvac product manager. Thank you, John
If you run it dry you get to do it all iver again 😂 As its some kind of reward 😂
