Unfortunately I had to put music to parts of this video, my hand was forced as I had audio issues, that made it un watchable. Very disappointed. In this video I am camping using some vintage gear, some true vintage and some replica stuff. I using a US Pup Tent to sleep under. A very versatile bit of equipment. I really hope you enjoy the video even with the music. cheeers. ruclips.net/channel/U...

Hoo-Yah, thank you Sir
very nice jacket, ive a kakadu waxed drovers type coat i got from australia, working my way through your excellent videos mate, all the best from orkney, ...scotland, cheers, mick.
not getting how you did the trigger
The trigger stick is perpendicular to the "guillotine" bar and supported by it partially because the force is upward. To make the system stable, the bottom part of the trigger stick is then propped against the bait stick in a cross configuration. So the trigger is not vertical but slightly angled from the vertical. When the bait stick is pushed down, only the guillotine stick is supporting the trigger but this is unstable and the system triggers. He should have shown the other side. Only way this could work. It's actually an amazing system because you don't have to cut a notch in the trigger stick as in other system.
The mice will love you, and you won't get much sleep, haha
Dead fall traps and I eat them.
If you've got access to animal grease or oil, carbon steel is always good, and also, no one buys a knife and does tip tests, or bending lol with how much our government leeches tax us we cant afford to waste shit
The opening shot was stunning! Looks like you got pretty close. Love the tarp set up. Perfect size. Didn't look too bulky on the fold either. Must be a lighter 6 ounce, or maybe a quality bedsheet you've ouled. The chair was a beauty too. I wish this way was more common. Come up to Nariel Creek Folk Festival this chrissy. There is an interesting areay of campsites, and jam sessions in some playing music that has been passed down in the area since the mid 1800s
That’s very impressive - must try that myself!
Good one Scotty. I've seen that fungus around these parts too. I thought it was called a bracket fungus but only because I didn't know any different. Nice watch by the way, I've got one just like it. ATB.
Gday mate. You are correct about it being a Bracket Fungi. The Fire Fungi is a type of Bracket Fungi. Thanks for watching mate
Brilliant video Scotty. The music sounded like out of an eastern culture somewhere. Many of the Swagmen of Australia and NZ came from all over the world so music from a particular region of the world gives the vid an authentic touch imho
Great video Scotty!
If you ever want to take a green lad out and film, just not him. Let me know
As always, thanks mate. Awesome tutorial!
Nice that was a good lesson on fire making skills in a pinch with bugger all 👍
Awsomw mate. I'm gunna give that a go. Thanks.
Good bit of info here mate, thanks for that.
Great tips! I've seen the spongy end-of-life ones about - but not tried it as tinder before. ta
I forgot to mention. It works really well for solar ignition too. Thanks for watching mate
Your Fresh One with a Slice out of it it the best for Flint and Steel.💥💥💥 i done see many people doing Videos on White Punk.🍄🍄🍄💥💥💥♨️♨️♨️ I Usually tear it from top to bottom to expose the natural fuzzies to catch a spark.👍 Quartzite would give a better spark than Quartz.
@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 I didn't know that you had it over there thats awsome 😀
I have quite a few videos on my You Tube Channel. 😝👊💥💥💥🍄🍄🍄🔥🔥🔥♨️♨️♨️💯💯💯🌏🌏🌏😎🤘 Nice to See Someone Representing on your side of the ditch.😊👍 Cheers Cobber. Nice video@@Southernlandbushcraft
White Punk! 😝👊🍄🍄🍄🔥🔥🔥 my Favorite. Laetiporus portentosus. Great for Flint and Steel.💥💥💥 We find them in New Zealand on our Native Beech 🌏 Its good in the fire piston.
Bloody good demonstration, it’s great that you show how it’s done, thanks for sharing knowledge mate 👍🏻Cheers 🍺
Thanks for watching mate
Great video matey Informative and easy watching
Hey thanks mate I appreciate it.
Great video, It's really difficult to find much high quality local content, thanks mate 👍 I was wondering where to get that awesome green woolen hoody you wear in your other videos ? Cheers 🍻 EDIT : Swanndri Bush Shirt $320 😱😭
That's absolutely awesome mate. So quartz will work as flint? Cheers mate 👍 🐕 🤠
Hi Mick. Yeah it works well. Flint does throw better sparks as it a lot sharper and harder. But if quartz is all you have, it will do.
Mate. Absolutely love your channel. Thanks again for another great video. 👊🏼
Cheers mate for the support
So ya reckon magnifying glass on the fire fungi work like the spark?
@@NobelSavage-si1ei yes I forgot to mention that. Works great
Fresnel lens for the Win 👍
@@Southernlandbushcraft ah cheers bro.
@@Southernlandbushcraft I was wondering where to get that awesome green woolen hoody you wear in your other videos ? Cheers 🍻
I originally got it from Aussie Disposals. It's a Swanndri Bush Shirt. You can pick them up on line too. I love it. There are different versions of it now. I modified mine and put pockets in it.
🔥👍
Interesting I’ll have to keep an eye out for the fire fungy. Learn something new. 👍
Absolutely 100% agree. I would never have thought that fungi could be used in fire lighting. I'm amazed.
Good stuff mate👍👍
We needed the hear the mouth organ 😊
Lol maybe one day 😅
Really special, having the whole family out like that!
Hey mate just landed here from the bearded bushranger. The kids and I love camping and when we can’t get out, awesome to have content like this to watch, thanks heaps for sharing. I wish they made dog oilskins small enough for our Jack Russell, but he’d probably tear it off anyway. Good onya mate keep it up!
so relaxing mate a great vid thanks👍
Auuuum... Auuuum... Auuuum... ... ...
If we're at the point the world is so broken we need trapping skills i can assure you they'll be of zero use. There's no point where things are bad enough to need those skills yet good enough they can be used cross over. If things get that bad the first thing people will do is ruin, squander, and destroy nature's resources.
Like the combination of scouting and hunting at the same time; seems like I’ve ran into game while scouting, more often than not!
@@michaelshubr4084 yeah same. So many times. I bet if I didn't have my bow with me, I would have seen a big deer
Good video Scotty, It made me want to pack my pack and PO into the bush. Did I spot an old habit there when you 'looked out toward the perimeter'? Keep up the good work mate. All the best.
Love the cup at 6:23 where it fitted inside the larger cup. Cracking bit of kit 👍🏼Great camp too.
Like your use of the original swagman kit! Live in Alaska Interior, and practice the bush skills here, and have passed it on to my son.
@@michaelshubr4084 Thanks mate. Alaska what an amazing place. I would love to get there oneday. ATB
@@Southernlandbushcraft Been watching you and Luke (Bearded Bushranger). You’re lucky to have a competent mate. You guys should look my son, Elias, and I up at the Tok Clinic, if you ever make it up to Alaska’s Eastern Interior. Served with your Aussie forces in Somalia in 93-good lads, who I have the highest respect for!
Nice video Scotty - I've just seen you're putting new vids up - been catching up 🙂
Very nice my friend😎
Thanks Scotty wonderful video, great to see the use of the canvas.
Another great vid Scotty. Very much looking forward to more vids from you in the future too. Keep up the good work mate... it's very inspiring. 👍
Nobody eats spam mate. Nobody.
Lol Spam and eggs mate. It helps to keep me warmer in my wool blanket if ya know what I mean 😉
@@Southernlandbushcraft nar mate, nar. The only use is to rub it all over your body and then you could hide among a pack of wild dogs or dive into a school of sharks and be totally safe because nothing is going to risk eating that crap.
I eat it
@@MoonKnightH8 dont believe ya.
More like this love it.
Captivating.
That's the way to go camping no frills that's how I started as a kid with my mates learning our early skills from being in the Cubs then in my early teens in the cadets at High School and a tarp was luxury.
Why on Earth do you keep playing that bizarre Turkish restaurant music when we want to hear the natural wind and fire noises ???
@@edwardfletcher7790 read description
@@SouthernlandbushcraftYou didn't have to use THAT music ... You can never go too subtle with RUclips background music. You might want to check out the huge Kevin Macleod free music library all the big channels use....
@edwardfletcher7790 will do mate. I didn't think it sounded Turkish, but I guess it does a bit. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.
