Oh hey, welcome back. This year I've been trying to start the first draft of a new story but I keep getting ideas for a part of it. So this month I'm hoping to squash that and finally start writing 6 months later.

I just got my braces on today! It's round 2 of braces because I'm going to have jaw surgery in 6 months. My teeth are already straight from the first time so it's hard to feel confident when I know I already had a great smile. I'm definitely feeling very insecure right now, but I know it will pass. Thank you for the tips!

For anyone wondering, the Alphasmart's inability to save might have been that the internal small battery may have died. When I got mine, I'd heard that there could be troubles if the internal battery dies (not the AA batteries, the one actually inside the machine). But you can absolutely open it up with a screwdriver, pop the old battery out, and put a new one in, which is what I did. IIRC, it was a common watch battery or equivalent. You just unscrew the backplate, move the circuit board out of the way, and switch it out. I can't guarantee that's the problem, but if anyone has the same problem as you mentioned, it might be worth a try.

For physical notes, I usally writie everything in a designated notebook. I have either a folder or file folder for thr loose stuff. I'm too lazy to hole punch papers to put it all in a binder but I've considered that too. My digital notes aren't organized or flushed out and has a page in notion.

I also had this problem of my notes not being organized especially since o was writing in a composition notebook but I had to jot everything in google docs with sections and headings of characters and outline and a little of world building and questions I have still I’ll probably going to print it out though cause I like to see things in a notebook 😂I need like you said a story bible. With government and prison systems idk how anyone figure that out like the Harry potter and divergent series it’s amazing do you prefer scrivener over google docs ?

I also always brainstorm and take notes by hand! I have a notebook for each project and that is where the majority of my notes go, so everything is obviously in order that way. I also section off the notebook so there's a section for general brainstorming/worldbuilding (although i write contemporary books, so worldbuilding isn't as relevant for me), characters, and then for revisions. For any loose leaf paper notes, I try to always note down what draft it's for, but actually dating it could also be helpful! hope this helps in some way! loved the vlog <3

Honestly, my notes are always a combination of physical and Scrivener notes (just whatever’s more handy). I’m trying to get myself into the habit of making all my notes digital/on Scrivener, as I’ve been writing there more. Idk. Especially with older projects (Fantasy Duology), my notes are a little bit of everywhere: notebooks, scraps of paper, Scrivener, still random thoughts floating around in my head… And I need to digitize it all so it’s all in one spot. 😅

You have no idea how excited I got when I saw you uploaded a video!! I'm so excited that all seems to be going well and I can't wait to hear more about bujos and writing!! Ahhh!! My girl is coming back! I'm working on my 3rd year of Uni, and I started freelance editing last year, so of course I hope to get more contracts under my belt as well as more writing time. My 2023 is split in two parts : in the first half, I finish my first draft, I love it and I tell myself "it's gonna be finished by the end of the year !". And in the second half, I start college and find myself not having the time to write... so basically I planned a bit the book that is my life goal instead of working on my draft. (It seems that we all have a main project that takes years and years to grow 😂). For 2024, I will keep focusing on my studies (even though it makes me sad not to write) because it's very important and the school fees are too high to mess up haha. This summer I will work, and in September I'll be back to college... so I don't have any writing goals unfortunately. I guess this is the sacrifice I have to make ! I can still plan my main serie sooo I guess I'll keep doing that, and I hope I will find the time to edit that draft and FINISH THE DAMN BOOK 😂 Good luck for your writing goals !!! My 2024 goals are to edit draft one of my wip, called project Eden, replan it and the second book in that series and then start draft 2, I also want to get back into bullet journalling and set writing deadlines for myself :)

my year in review is…uh…college. anyway - my 2024 goal is probably to finish tracing my matriarchies bc i’m a little bit sick of them nowadays and salem turns eight on march 1st, so…ya know…it’d be nice to be done with that chunk of worldbuilding by the time she turns nine, so i can move on and get closer to actually writing 😭💀

my mouth dropped when u said u brought back the journal this year because i have too! i haven’t used one since 2020/early 2021 and am adjusting to it again. i wish u the best of luck this year!!

I’m so glad you’re working on project Orion again, I’m so excited for you! I LOVE dual povs, I think they’re so fun to read and to write! Especially for romances and characters that have conflict with eachother because it’s a nice way to show the reasons for their actions yk. But yes! Big fan of multiple povs

loved this vlog! would you maybe be able to take the backstory stuff and turn it into a dual timeline situation? i think that could be a cool thing to do, to see the two stories connect and see how the backstory affects the current, main story. just a suggestion! i'm sure whatever you decide to do will be great 💖💖
