On this channel it is all about fishing and being in the great outdoors. The Wild Cast is for everyone who enjoys getting away and catching some fish. This is not your average fishing channel, here at The Wild Cast we fish for multiple species and use many techniques.
My First Kayak Bass Tournament | Big Hill |
I have been preparing for my first Kayak Bass Tournament since early spring. The first tournament was at beautiful Big Hill Lake in southeast Kansas. The Tournaments are CPR (catch, picture, release) and you score your 5 longest fish. The tournament began at 6:30 and lines out at 2:30. I started out pretty solid and the north end of the lake. My battery for my trolling motor died halfway thru the day and I switched to my electronics battery but that didn't last long either. I finished the day pedaling. It was a great experience and I will be competing in more this year and years to come. Thank you for watching and be sure to like comment and subscribe.

This was at the county lake south of the reservoir. You don’t have to check in at the big lake.

I bank fished The Sacramento River 11 hrs yesterday and caught 2 trash fish and a crappie sized Striper. It was a good time doing nothing much. I did see a Sturgeon roll a couple times. I’m too beat up climbing a rocky levee to go out today in this 100+ heat. I’m feeling my 70 years.
Them long days are hard. We need some rain for the river here to be worth a darn.
@@thewildcast2353 Recent strong releases into The Feather from Oroville, reportedly for the salmon which are as rare as a toothbrush in a tweaker camp. I fish a remote spot on the Sacramento River and my friend fishes Yuba City and Knights Landing. I get reports several times a week. I agree on the desperate need for rain and good management. I drive (actually it drives itself) on a large rice farm. It wasn’t so large this year due to restricted water deliveries. The effect on my catching is secondary. The Striper run was weak this year. I didn’t see one boat in 11 hours.

@@thewildcast2353 I work rice fields in the spring and fall. This year we were down 20% because of water. Another year will be a financial disaster. It’s a bad time with grain prices up thanks to Russian aggression. Ukraine is the source of 30% of world wheat I’m seeing a lot of sunflower as I cross the county to the river. I expect to see more safflower in rice fields without water. I haven’t checked but expect oil seed prices to rise. Safflower can use rice combines, sunflower harvest is best with a corn header.

Depends on rainfall a lot of times. I see people have good luck down town Wichita and around Lincoln street bridge. I fish out side of Wichita just to get away from people.

Congratulations on a Nice Fish! I had a question for you. Which lake is better for blue cats, El Dorado, or Cheney? Unfortunately I have no water craft. Im looking for fish in the 5 to 20lb range, and/ or decent catch rate. I won’t be mad if I catch bigger or smaller, that’s just my target size. I enjoyed you videos. Any advice will help.
thank you! I always have better luck at el dorado. There’s some bridges and decent places you can get to from the bank. I just havnt gave Cheney much time cuz of the wind.
