For non SP, I'd rank em as OWA, CYPB, WFP, W12, WSR, WSiB personally. The 2ndary prices y'all are quoting are insane though. CYPB is 360, OWA is 100-110, WFP is 200, SiB is 450, W12 is 150. Going SP though, OWA NCF are by far the best of the line unless the person picking had no palate at all.

I just tried the Bardstown at a local bar in the PNW last night. I was super disappointed and honestly thought it was super unflavorful. It was a fresh crack and the bar gave me the first pour of the bottle. After a few sips I had my wife try it and her exact words were "Did you put water in that?". Maybe the bar just had a bad bottle but I left there scratching another bottle off my buy list. The rest of your list of best ryes is spot on and are examples of excellent pours.

Here in Oregon was able to land 2 of the new EH taylor barrel proof rye... heard mixed reviews on but at msrp 78.00 amazing finds

I’m not the biggest rye guy, but some of these are fantastic. Michter’s 10 year, anything Sagamore, Jack Daniels barrel proofs. For Old Overholt, I got the 10 and 11 year, both are really good too.

I have 5 rebuys. 100 proof Early Times, 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Coopers' Craft, 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey, and if on sale for $40 the Green River Full Proof. The best value is the 100 proof Early Times, $25 for a liter here. The Old Grand-Dad 100 proof is $22, and to me has better after effects than their 114.

Weller single barrel is the worst of the bunch. I have a bottle I paid $50 for and it’s the worst $50 I’ve ever spent.

Blind any weller with makers mark cask strength and 101 see how your felling change , especially when you add in price point.

IMO very few bottles have made me pause and think 'this is undervalued at MSRP'. I think that 'undervalued at MSRP' thing is what started this whole insanity trend of tater buying. Weller and many other bottles 'used' to be values at their MSRP's. The industry is just riding coattails of previous glory at this point. It's sad. As far as paying more than MSRP to get my first bottle of something allocated, I simply can't justify that. If the ultimate endgame of this product is to be circling the toilet bowl on its way down, I'm not paying a penny more than I have to and I will simply get by without having one if getting one at MSRP is not possible. Liquor is so subjective, our evaluations of it can be swayed so easily. Somebody else telling us it's good, tasting notes from reviews (and when we taste it our experience can subconsciously be manipulated by this), our current mood, our current life situations, etc. My friends and I buy whiskey and other spirits to share, try and enjoy (or not enjoy...) with each other. We help each other get allocated bottles we are each looking for and we came to the conclusion of never overpaying for bottles, no matter how badly we may want them. It just isn't worth it and hasn't been worth it in our experience. Regarding Weller products specifically, I personally don't think they're worth getting. There are other wheated bourbons I would gravitate to before Weller, but not because they are better (or worse for that matter). Rather the main thing driving my thought that Weller isn't worth getting is because in my area it basically doesn't exist. I'm ignoring so many available options in my market area by focusing on trying to get my hands on the few Weller bottles that come here annually (that everybody else is in my area is also trying to get their hands on). YMMV.

What special store is this you speak of? I Love Weller Special Reserve as a go to pour, just don't love the price up here in the PNW. I've never seen the Antique 107, CYPD, or the Orange label, single barrel, I think. If people would just stop paying the higher secondary prices they would have to drop the prices on BT products. Buffalo Trace is a good whiskey that I don't mind drinking at all especially for the $26 range. As far as wheated goes, I'll stick with the less hyped like Old Elmer, Larceny, or even that one that lots of folks don't like McFarlane's. I refuse to pay over $100 for any bottle of Whiskey/Bourbon. Thanks for the video!

JDSBBP rye is better and you don’t have to chase or spend those crazy secondary market prices but most choose the hype over the truth. It’s good nevertheless.

My fav is the Weller Full Proof but secondary is way too high. It’s better than Antique 107 but I’ll take that for way less. I’m so done with secondary. CYPB is not worth $60. Sorry, it’s not that good. Single Barrel is even worse.

I dont pay over msrp for bottles so there is no first buy price for me but ill put how i think they perform in the market based on my taste Weller sr $20-not worth current msrp for my taste Weller 12-$0, i think its disgusting and would only get one for msrp if i had someone who wanted a trade Weller 107-$75. Good. Weller full proof-$70 not as good as 107 and old emmer cask strength tastes just like it for less. Cypb-$20. Doesnt interest me and the cypb thing makes no sense Single barrel-$20 its just sr. Wlw-$150 never had one, but ive bought multiple other btacs for $110 and had multiple gts releases and none are in my top 5 all time so id pay current msrp, should be worth it Worth noting that im historically not a buffalo trace fan and i think benchmark full proof beats all of these but the 107 and i assume wlw.

Weller lineup is judged harshly because of insane secondary markup but in reality I think entire lineup is very good. I’ve always said 107 is my favorite but on new years a buddy and me did a blind. Results were: 1. Full proof 2. Single 3. 12 year 4. CYPB 5. 107 6. Special Reserve I’m able to get a single and a CYPB every year for $200 each. I have no regrets paying that

OK my thoughts: I used to pass on all Weller products or bought them to trade for other things. I few months ago a bunch of Weller products dropped in my area at SRP so i picked up the Special Reserve, 107 and 12 yr, all about $50+60. So now i was motivated to complete the lineup. Picked up a Full Proof and a few Full Proof picks for $150 each. And i know i over paid at secondary prices but got the CYPB and SiB for $400 each. I wont pay that much for another one of those but i eeally wanted to finish the lineup, minus WLW. Plant to crack them all tonight

I'm curious what secondary y'all are using as from what I've seen WSiB is about 400 (to be clear, still not worth it). Weller is one of my favorite lines and I always have an open OWA, W12 and WFP at my house. CYPB is interesting (again I'm curious on your secondary source as its close to 300 in what I've seen), but certainly not worth secondary. I have 1 open I got for my birthday last year and drink it about twice a year, beyond that it just goes back into hiding. Cheers gents!

Controversial take. I pass up all Weller. Like you said. There is so much better whiskey out there. I try to always get something I haven't had.

Weller 12 in the box is 700ml I think it may be meant for export.

I love the 4 Roses SBS as well. Damn expensive here, at $60 a bottle. My top sugestions depend on the person. NEW to Whiskey 1. Buffalo Trace (if they can get it), Bowman Brothers small batch if not, for the lower rye mashbill 2. Remus for the higher rye mash bill, and 3. Wyoming Whiskey Small Batch for a Wheated Bourbon. If not that new, then 1. Russell's Reserve 10 year, 2. Chatanooga 91 and 3. 4 roses SBS

You should do the same experiment with all different Jack Daniel’s products

I love Glenmo's house style. Sure, it's not craft presented but I like the flavors and the Original is fairly easy to find at a good low price ($56 at TW for the now 12 year but still $37 at Target). The bottle redesigns even came with better versions of the whisky inside. You can even find a tasting pack of four of the old versions for $30.

That QFC is where I got that bottle of JD SBBP! The store clerk was telling me that it wasn't really moving. Great selection on tequila too (G4, Ocho, Lalo, Siete Leguas, etc.)! I even once found a killer rum deal or two some time ago. Don't rule out grocery stores -- they occasionally get good stuff in or have good deals!

The four roses single barrel 100 proofs just started showing up in Massachusetts. There doing 3 different recipes a year I’ve heard.

Fyi, the camera sometimes autofocuses to the BB sign in the back and makes you guys blurry. Setting the aperture to like f/5.6 or f/7.1 will help. Keep up the great work!

My go to recommendations are Buffalo Trace, Four Roses SiB, Rare Breed, Knob Creek 12, Old Forester 1910, Sagamore DO, JDSBBS Rye. Those are all readily available in Ohio and highlight different taste profiles and variety. Low proof and sweet, SiB , spicy and high proof, age and a bit oh nut, DO, bourbon drinkers rye, high octane rye.

Great selection. I don't think that Green River you showed was a Full Proof bottle? My bottle actually said Full Proof on it. My Total Wine sells it for $48 not $35.
