Jonny Mozza's "Lessons in Confidence" is a feature film that is being made right now, I can't wait for you to see it!
I made a film with AI before AI was a tool for grifters
In 2021 I made a film with "GPT-3" with a few of my closest friends. And the attitude towards AI has changed massively in that time, in this video I give my thoughts on AI, and the future of creativity.

Making Music as a Form of Therapy

Recently I showed off my album "Decisions in Another Language" a prog rock concept album all about the various feelings I had surrounding my divorce last year. We were together for over six years, and was the only person I've ever been with. So as a result there was a lot to process when the relationship ended. This video doesn't get into any kind of nitty gritty gossip (sorry), but it does go ...
What are the best songs over 10 minutes long?

My favourite songs are all long, so I thought I'd put together a video discussing some of my favourite songs. There's a few classics, and a few lesser known songs. Songs Pink Floyd - Echoes (Live in Gdansk) Pink Floyd - Fat Old Sun (Live on the BBC) (forgot to talk about this one, love it) Dream Theater - In The Name Of God (Live in Budokhan) Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize King Gizzard & The Liza...

If you or someone you know is a musician and wants to work on this, email me at themantashrimps@gmail.com or if you liked the album but thought the mix wasn't all there in places please let me know in the comments, I've drive...

In this video I explain how I shifted gears from film towards music, and how I believe challenging yourself and trying new things is beneficial (I mean, obviously it is, but watch the video)

Jonny Mozza's "intro scene practice"

First scene from Jonny Mozza's "Lessons in Confidence" where I need to play two songs at an open mic. Been practicing these today, did another take but cba editing that one, maybe will upload that too who knows. Scheduled to go live around the time I actually perform for real.

This is a video that kickstarted something I called the "Granchester Anthology" it was going to be this sorta meta-thing where I became a character in the show and had to break out, then I found out that sort of thing had already been done.
Reacting to my bad Student Films

Made a load of films and videos that have aged... uh... poorly. I did this project as part of this attempt at an internet series sorta in the vein of FilthyFrank but way less gross-out humour (not keen on that kind of shouty humour). We did another video, I'll upload that too.

It's not that I hate central London, but there's something about it that bugs me, and in this video I start on that and end up trying to solve the housing crisis.

My Tumultuous Experience Making Films
Born and raised in London, spent 25 years there, and left 10 years ago. Basically no one I grew up with still lives in London, we've moved out, couldn't afford the rents.
Something tells me you're not gonna like NYC & Times Square 😊
Golders hill park off Hampstead Heath is lovely. And not sure what that bird was, but it sounds like a plane.
Nice video man ! May I ask what is the camera use here ? Really like the treatment of the image !
Heyo, I'm using a canon c100 mk. 1. 28mm lens on it, the camera was probably 5m away. Then just find a fitting lut and adjust it a bit, usually turn the shadows up and the contrast down.
@@JonnyMozza Thank you so much mate & nice setup !
Immigration has eroded our culture and many parts of London
Super good message! Keep being genuine!
where is this filmed
You are great, mate. Neoliberalism.Primed for Fascism. Not long ago...nazis rioting !!! London was always a weird place to find conversation. Investing in the young isn't what Boomers want.
Years of post-bailout "austerity" and hostile policies will do that to a country and its people. I don't think saying hello more often to strangers is going to help much.
The internet has destroyed the fabric of society
Agreed. Let's hope neither of us do something silly like watch a video and comment on it using that bloody Internet
As a russian I feel extremely hard to fit into local communities tbh. It's much easier to get on with immigrants rather than locals unfortunately
niche socialist groups are always a good laugh - I live in walworth which is the traditional territory of the Socialist Party of Great Britain and always look forward to a chat when they pop over with their leaflets - mad as a box of frogs obviously but very patient people!
what's the open mic scene like? poetry? i have always wanted to do this in ldn so might try it?
There's two types (in my mind anyway), there's larger ones that are more band-oriented, and smaller ones that are more singer-songwriter oriented. I've seen a few poets get on stage and recite their poetry. They're all generally very welcoming places and would love to hear your poetry!
very well said
as a londoner from birth and someone just a year younger than u, this captured a truth and sentiment that resonates massively, i don't think the UK is gonna fall apart buts its not in a good state and i just think we need to work together towards enactment, and positive projects
Yeah good luck. Your gonna end up like us America. Isolated and completely crazy
QPR mentioned waheyy
If you are living in ultra elitist and affluent neighbourhoods like Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Mayfair and even other just very affluent parts like Chiswick, Hampstead etc, you can definitely feel socially isolated if you are not from a higher social class as I am not. I used to live in a bedsit in Belsize Park as that was all I could afford in the area and because my cousin lived nearby. But growing up in a council estate in Manchester and then moving there, I didnt feel connected to very many people there apart from my cousin, who grew up in London, as I moved to Manchester as a 4 year old kid before moving back as an adult.
I went back to Manchester last week to visit family. Whilst I was there, I walked through the Manchester Arndale Centre and the visceral hatred I had for the place was far worse than when I left. It was full of corperate chains and thousands of people chaotically running around that were completely disconnected from each other and disconnected from myself.
At first I thought this was an interview being done in the mid 1980s due how the video has obviously been edited and the lighting also. It actually adds to the experience of watching a modern video that looks 40 years in the past. Maybe there is some nostalgia coming through and thus the video looking old actually merges with the content creators idea.
whats ur IG
Yes,I often think youth culture can’t keep up with youth ‘reality’
Great talk. Ive been pissing around with a esom with magic lantern, trying to get 14bit raw working etc. Im not a tech guy and all that ive managed to do is absolutely nothing. It all gets in the way. Im just gonna grab my 80d and shoot something!
I dont often comment, but I felt compelled. You’ve tapped into something very special and its just not highlighted enough when we talk about the miserable decay of the UK. I urge you to keep making content with your calm jovial spirit as this made me feel not just comforted but heard. Community pubs here in my city are a lifeline for me, and they are struggling. Yet the cadence and accuracy in the way you describe the importance of community made me feel hope, and brightened my evening much like a thriving community does ! Wish you all the best.
Dont forget no end of Turkish barbers
I’ve been going to a Turkish barbers in London since I was ten and those guys have seen me grow up over the last 15 years. A lot of those guys are pillars of the community and some days they’re the only conversation I have for the day. Literally the antithesis of what he’s talking about.
@@dylanyoung1326 😂😂 “pillars of the community” - about 15% of these Turkish (actually Kurdish) barbers have been around more than 4 or 5 years. I’m sure the original comment was pointing out the vast majority of money laundering criminal enterprises masquerading as barbershops. I’m a Londoner but I travel for work, I sometimes see small market towns with 5+ Turkish barbershops… I’ll point out in fact I’m from the corner of Tottenham that’s home to the biggest Turkish community outside of Germany and Turkey itself, and use legitimate local Turkish owned and ran barbershops
@@crabapples1995 your getting confused between criminals and foreigners. It’s not just Turkish people who launder money. It’s funny how it’s much easier to be white and launder money because no one will racially profile you as a criminal and Nigel Farage only cares about the foreigners crimes. I feel sorry for hard working people like my barbers who work 7 days a week then have to deal with racial profiling like that. It’s breaks my heart.
@@crabapples1995 and how do you find out if those barbershops in Tottenham are legitimate? Do you check their balance sheets and accounts before you go for a trim or do you just look at the colour of the skin of the people that work there?
@@dylanyoung1326 it’s very simple, I use established barber shops that have been there for years. As stated very clearly above. No need to accuse me of being racist for pointing out that England has an absurd number of money laundering barbershops. Ya daft knobber.
Thanks, I really appreciated hearing this! It's my second year in London and I have felt rather lost, but also came to similar realisations
Yes, I'm the same, been living in London for a while now and I'm trying to get myself out of my comfort zone more. Have you had much success?
@@DeRepear I've definitely grown over time, so that is a success. But there are certainly ups and downs as a person who doesn't feel naturally inclined to socialise. Positive results are definitely proportional to the effort you put in. Some of those seeds that I planted in the past have come to fruition over time, but there are certainly long periods where I wasn't planting them at all! I think the key is to be persistent and not make small rejections a bigger issue than they are.
Hey dude, really like your vibe and energy, just subscribed.
This is Tennyson Road in Hanwell isn't it? Would recognise this anywhere I'm Ealing born and bred.
You're incredibly well spoken. 100% agree as well, this is a countrywide problem something needs to be done but I doubt it will.
Many things that cannot be said, nor noticed about this.
Brit to Brit, never stop this calm style of content, I was so surprised to see how little subs you have, this will certainly blow up soon.
Thank you so much! Good thing about this style is I can do videos quite quickly so I can upload consistently, and it also makes me think about things in more depth when I've got to speak it all out. Love doing these, not gonna stop any time soon
@@JonnyMozza Kudos to you man cant wait to see you get the views you deserve
Watch 80s TV shows to see the ubiquity of pubs. Eastenders, Only Fools abd Horses, The Bill...
Community comes from a common purpose. In the past, third place such as the pub or church was because the people who frequented it were there because they shared a common purpose. For instance a shared belief system or a shared place of work (and I don't just mean "the same office buildings area" I mean mines, large infrastructure projects, steel works and so on). There is not going to be some kind of lasting grassroots revival of the "third place", no matter how much people will it, unless there are drastic changes in the economy. Changes which frankly, there is little incentive for existing power holders to implement, not to mention that there would be little consensus on what changes should be made. UK is buggered, just admit it
I feel like doom and gloom is all over, I'd like to try and spread positivity (without being too overbearing cos that can also be annoying) even if we live in upsetting times.
@@JonnyMozza ok!
What is the reason *why* people would use community centers? In the past, did people use community centers *because* they wanted to foster a community, or did they do it for other reasons, and the *community* was a side effect? Riddle me that
Pink Floyd and gizzard, great taste - the kexp magma and iron lung versions are incredible
That version of Magma blew my mind, was up north at the time and had to download the youtube video at a cafe on their Wifi so I could listen to it atop a big hill overlooking the peak district. Magical.
2007 smoking ban bludgeoned the pubs 😢
Fully agreed, and this new thing of trying to ban smoking in beer gardens is just ridiculous! Pubs spent so much money making their beer gardens look nice and now that money will have gone to waste...
@@JonnyMozza people enjoy beer gardens who dont smoke.
@@joe_3y3s sure, but the smokers use the beer gardens year round, and then when it’s hot for three months suddenly you have the non smokers that have been enjoying the toasty warm indoors of the pub, now demand access to the gardens on their terms.
@@crabapples1995 they go out there for a cig and then go back in. they could just as easy go out the front.
Genuinely interesting document…said as a Londoner.
I’m not even from london but I’ve gotten into some interesting circles within london you just have to be a little accepting of the weird
Aye exactly, you just go with the flow
I have now officially lived in London for 25 years ironically and been visiting family here since the 1980s<< its now become a shadow of the city i used to know<< the real community is non-existent, most people are out for themselves, friendships are ever more increasingly difficult to make in London because no one has time for you<< its more overcrowded, overpriced, over-dirty, more polluted, more crime, more tension, more unfriendly, more homeless, more mentally ill people walking our streets who should be looked after by the care of our national health system as opposed to being a danger to themselves and the general public and finally its become more stressful and exhausting to live here due to our lovely government for allowing illegal immigrants to reside here, eating away at all our resources including our welfare, taxes, housing and nhs<< all things that should have been top and first priority for those who have been born and bread here regardless of colour and creed respectfully(Charity starts at home young-man) the rest iam sure you can read between the lines ?? Fortunately iam self employed, travel a-lot and will be officially getting the hell out of it sooner rather than later( but my apologies) for my over extended rant<< you do seem like a nice lad and i wish you all the very best in all your endeavours 🙏👍
Homelessness has def been on the rise, started seeing way more since corona. I believe you when you say real community is non-existent compared to the 80s, I do try and look on the bright side of things and be happy with what I've got. I've done the pining for a time I'll never have (in fact Jonny Mozza the guy this channel is named after is exactly that characteristic put into a person) and I'm sure the sense of community was much greater before my time, I can only cherish the community that's still here.
Nice, cheers from Lisbon 🇵🇹
Much love!
So I Guess This is It had vocals a little low at some point, at least compared to the guitar, but Buongiorno Straniero seems to have that fixed
Cheers for the feedback aye! So I Guess This Is It was the first song recorded for the album it's def my least fav production on these songs, that one is gonna be hard to turn into a live thing cause it's a soft song with these annoying tempo changes loool. Buongiorno is hard as well cos it's got one bar of 5/4 in the chorus that's gonna mess with peoples heads. Easiest song prob Conclusion Delusion literally just two chords the entire time + a breakdown
10 views, 1 hour ago and no likes That's how i know its gonna be good
Central London at night is beautiful. Completely empty. You can enjoy it's majesty. The only problem is it's dark & everything is closed 😁
It's kinda fun walking down the middle of the street at 3am in some mad weird part of town, barely even having to watch over your shoulder for cars
@@JonnyMozza It is. I prefer it. Keep up the good works.
It's a very oppressive and packed city, agree with your points, great video

I believe you. You can do it.
Thank you!
so inspiring. Shows how architecture and city planning can represent how oppressed we have become. What we can do to change this. Art. Artistic buildings, public spaces and homes. Bring back 3rd spaces. Not everything has to be work or home.
I like when youtube recommends these small upcoming channels. Subscribed!
Growth is slowing down. Yep they've milked their favourite youtubers to death and people are getting bored of iphone review videos. I'm seeing a lot of new youtubers. Thank god.
I've been finding a load of good channels, one I've found lately is a guy called KC reviews, he did a video about the "worst episode" of the simpsons (that episode being season 16's Mobile Homer, an episode I'd seen recently and thought was alright, not great but alright). Love these smaller channels and watching them grow. Reminds me when I was about 13 I used to watch a Minecraft RUclipsr called "EthosLab", I watched him go from 10k subs to around 200k subs (which would be todays equivalent of I guess 100k subs to 2 million subs).
I couldn't deal with it myself :) but it's not like much of this country is too far away from the same.. just maybe not to the same degree, or with so many issues that tightly consolidated, it really is like the super compressed yet totally dominant "micro"cosm of the uk. You know with.. how the whole world is heading that these problems will only get worse.... (I hope not but, well... trends and agenda's)
I stopped, listening after you said you want commie blocks built
Didn't say that, said we need to use that as a model but improve upon the failings of the commie block formula.
