      @@gunterbecker8528 go the best saw you can afford. If you can get into the pro saw range even better. They’re just built to last, go harder etc. more grunt in reserve is good. Easy to go over the top as each saw model is only a couple hundred difference in price(less than the cost of two ute loads of wood). I’m not too fussed about the weight of a saw as I use a small saw for small wood.

    Marty, I'm from Melbourne frequently going out cutting firewood looking to buy a saw. Which one would you recommend the 400 or 362 ??? • @Party-Marty
      @Party-Marty 3 месяца назад

      @@gunterbecker8528 g’day mate. I had a ms250 for years. Good saw but yeah a little slow compared to the bigger saws. I haven’t looked at saws for ages so not sure on what to recommend. Mine is a magnum461 with 20” bar. Cuts plenty big wood for my needs. I’d say get the biggest saw in your budget suitable to do the cutting you need. Try going a pro saw. They’re built better & cut faster even though capacity may be similar. Oiling problems often relate to how clean you have things when replacing the chain or basic maintenance. I flip the bar at the end of every day & change the chain over too. Rotating between 3 chains. I only run stihl oils, chains, bar. Everything genuine. Yes more expensive but haven’t had any trouble

    Am 72...and have pinched my share of bars. One thing I always do when cutting my long, straight, and big trees, in prep before I start slicing it up, I lay some smaller pieces of the cut limbs under the larger trunk. It sometimes helps to keep the large trunk off the ground as I am cutting it up. That also sometimes makes cutting the compression-side first a bit easier and might help keep the bar out of the dirt. And yes...a wedge is the way to go.

      Correct mate. Sometimes from friend’s/family private property but 95% in designated collection areas. Tip - once the season opens, ring your local DELWP office & ask where they’ve been dropping dangerous trees/cutting fire breaks in collection areas. Surprisingly they have been really helpful pointing me in the right direction - solid dry wood where they suggested I go. That load in trailer is some of the wood I’m burning now 👌
