Most of the time I would choose a student that got a lot. I would make sure I switch between students. I used to do a specific piece, but it lead to more issues sometimes and this was easier. So they’d pick up all the trash they can in the 1-2 minutes (when I see the room is pretty clean) and then I’d look at what they picked up and choose one that has a lot of trash and say they have it. Never had 1st graders call me out on not really have a specific piece I was looking for, as I would just make up one in their hand 😉

Yes, it is an expectation that 1st graders would know their letters names and sounds and also letter formation. Is that always the case? Absolutely not. 1st grade is still working hard on it and phonemic awareness.

Haha! 1st graders love Dojo points though! I use it as a class currency. So you could use your class currency, some sort of easy incentive (seat choice), or something else to motivate 😊

It helped my class a lot! I hope it helps yours as well. Just be sure to do it daily.

Hello Jill! I took all of the Wonders curriculum in 1st grade and put it on PowerPoint. Unfortunately I am not allowed to sell them due to copyright. Adrian, spot on! I also work at a Title 1 but high school....so all those challenges you mentioned i.e. behavioral, emotional, learning (cognitive), etc., magnified by 100! Structure for them is not as effective as if they were in elementary, they are teenagers! but they do help in some ways. The positive is that I find satisfaction in providing guidance for them. There are some that do achieve but it is a small %. Thanks for your video

@@aresxerxes6291 Hello! I can only imagine how much the challenges are amplified in high school. There are many more responsibilities that fall onto high school students. Possibly having to work to support their families as well as maturation to name a few. Thank you for sharing what makes it positive for you =) It is so easy to burn out, but remembering some of the good things that happen help me hang on.

Hello Maria, yes this will work with movable parts. The only difference is students will need a Google account as well due to it making a copy in their Google Drive.

Hello! When you have uploaded the file to your Google Drive and attached it to an assignment for Google Classroom. For Explorer Math, I would recommend making it so students can only view it and not make a copy. This will allow them to just click the picture of the Google Slide in their assignment and it'll take them right to it. I mention it at 2:37 if you want to watch it. Now when your students are in the Google Slide, they need to hit "Present" on the top right of the screen. This will make it so they start going through the slides.
