A Timeline of Living First Ladies of the United States

This video shows the living First Ladies of the United States from the assumption of the first "first lady" (lol) in 1789 until the present. Music: Hooked on Mozart - Louis Clark Why I chose not to include the acting First Ladies was because Historians don't usually assess them in any sort of way, but I don't discredit some of the acting First Ladies who made huge impacts on American history.

Henry Clay and Williams Jennings Bryan definitely tried.
1949 is when the US stopped the tradition of the outgoing VP swearing in the VP-elect
Wonderful and humbling man
Why was Kennedy not counted in 2024?
He wasn't a main candidate
USA ❤🎉
Why is Anderson Republican post 1980 when he endorsed Mondale in 1984, Nader in 2000, and Obama in 2008 and 2012?
I haven't seen a source where he became a democrat, probably like when H. W. Bush voted for Hillary in 2016, I assume he didn't think the parties candidate would help the country in a positive way.
If it was just the Obama votes then sure but Mondale and Nader are extremely out there for a republican. Why not just leave him as independent?
In the words of Trump come January 20th, “Biden, I don’t have anything to say to you and I’m not gonna lie to the people in what you’ve done these last 3 years, so get the hell out and don’t forget Harris with you”
The life expectancy in USA and many developed countries should be at 90 years of age, not 80!
THE KING HAS RETURNED ‼‼
My prediction = 2027 : death of michael dukakis 2028 , 2032 and 2036 : person random lost election 2038 : death of john kerry 2039 : death of donald trump and mitt romney 2040 : person random lost election 2043 : death of hillary clinton 2044 : person random lost election 2047 : death of al gore 2048 , 2052 , 2056 and 2060 : person ramdom lost election 2062 : death of kamala harris
Who do you think is gonna die first dukakis or biden
God bless the transition from photos to paintings going along with music again at 1:45 - 1:46
So it's only Trump who broke the tradition of not attending the inauguration of Biden?
John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Johnson, Woodrow Wilson (due to illness), and Richard Nixon chose to also not attend their successors inaugurals.
Jimmy Carter died in 2024
Horace Greeley being there for only twenty four days is still one of the weirdest events in presidential history
Donald Trump is the losing president this year Kamala Devi Harris becomes the first female president of the United States god bless Kamala 😂
You’re still not over it? Just admit defeat already
He won. Are you living off under a rock?
@@stellabowe8116 Prepare for 2028 Trump loses =)) so boring
youre 2 months late just say jd vance will lose in 2028 💀
F A L S E
Great video
We needed this update, thank you
First class, Jimmy. First class. Rest in paradise.
🥔
Donald Trump was so shame with himself, he didn’t want to face the person who defeated him!
He did at the debate 😂
Biden wouldn't thank even thank Trump but thanked everyone else? What a petulant child.
Donald Trump flew from Washington.
Some of the tributes do seem more fulsome than others. I liked Carter's generosity towards Ford and I thought Reagan was similarly generous towards Carter. And even Trump was gracious enough towards the Obamas - he's the only one who mentioned his First Lady's predecessor. But it's a shame he couldn't be bothered to show up to Biden's inauguration. Just my observations as a Britisher.
you can almost feel obama and john roberts looking at each other like "yeah we're gonna have to come back and do this again tomorrow"
How come President Bush and the Chief Justice didn't shake hands after he was sworn in for his second term? CJ just turns away.
Rehnquist was seriously ill with thyroid cancer, He left immediately after the oath for that reason. He'd pass away in September of that year, So I'm assuming Rehnquist just wanted to leave as fast as possible.
All of the predecessors look 10 years not 4 years older.
Donald. trump didnt show for biden. Ronnie. Raised taxes and sold. Weapons to iran. Wish president carter. Could be in charge again.
January 20th 2021-December 29th 2024
Biden breaking and not thanking was super disgraceful and shameful on his part. I’m glad Joe Biden is finally leaving The White House for good and I personally won’t miss him
Why the fuck should he be thanking Trump? Are you out of your mind? Trump refused to accept defeat, lied about voter fraud and riled up his supporters to storm the Capitol and try to murder officials who certified the election. He deserved to get his ass thrown in jail for treason against the United States, not a thanks.
The music in this one is my second favorite with my first being Hooked on America
Rest in peace Jimmy Carter 🇺🇸 October 1, 1924 - December 29, 2024 It’s now 1/20/21-12/29/24, 12/29/24-1/20/25, 1/20/25-present. Jimmy Carter was also the last president who’s generation wasn’t born during or after WW2 so I don’t expect to see another president die any time this decade hopefully 🤞
18:10 did you mean "that i will well and faithfully discharge"
Were about to hit 7 living us presidents if Rfk Jr and Mike Pence became president. If Biden or Trump survives
Not anymore :(
Biden was the first president in over half a century to not honor his predecessor at his inauguration
trump didn't even have the courage to show his face at President Biden's inauguration... He's the only president in history who's failed to conduct a peaceful transfer of power.
