Dents in wooden items including doors can be very frustrating as they will appear through your finish. These dents can be difficult to sand out as they can be very deep.
This video shows how to remove dents in wood using the steam method. This process is very simple and only requires a hot iron and a wet cloth. If you follow this process you will easily be able to remove and marks in wood.

Irwin Bench Vise Review & How to Mount I got my vice from Amazon here: amzn.to/38iQqlx Check out our website: woodworkhubby.com I recently needed a new vise for my workshop and since I already had a woodworking vise, I decided to go for an Irwin vice for holding metal objects. I am very happy with it so far and the fact that the vise swivels are a great feature.

Why Is The End Of A Tape Measure Loose

See my detailed article here: woodworkhubby.com/tape-measure-end-loose/ Why Is The End Of A Tape Measure Loose - This is a question I get a lot and often people throw out their tape measure when the end is loose because they think it is faulty. The metal end of your tape is meant to be loose and be able to move backward and forwards. I hope this video explains why your tape has a loose end. #ta...

Good review, If you wind the "air pressure Control" (in front and above the trigger) it will reduce the 'oblong' mark left behind.
Thank you- that is helpful
Bought this in england for £70 it is a versatile vice and a handy thing but be under no illusions its for lite work only any heavy work will fuck it up real quick .
Great info , thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Irwin record.... Chinese shite, it will rust rather quickly
Hi! Will this work on timber flooring? I’m renting an apartment and there’s a couple of dent that I’d like to try with this method…
Very useful thank you
Would.this work if it's had a water based sealer over the timber?
Most likely not. The finish would seal the wood fibres. You need the water and steam to penetrate the wood fibres for this to work
So would you suggest pre sanding the dented area?
The floor is finished gloss I would like to try your method. But my question is would need to sand the area before try this method?
Yo! Where is the finished product. Half the story does help me!
GREAT!
Mine didn’t come with the screws
Same
Help....I have a LONG groove (dent) in my oak hardwood floor from moving a VERY heavy upright piano. One of the wheels on the piano didn't roll properly and left the approx 8-9 foot long groove in my floor. Do you think this method will raise the groove without removing the varnish or will I end up having to have it refinished also? Thank you in advance!
Hi Danielle. I think you will have to remove the varnish to do that job and it is unlikely that you will be able to remove all of the dent. Hope it goes well. Let me know. Thanks
@@woodworkhubby721 Thank you so much for responding to my question quickly. I believe you are correct! I tried the steam method last night and it didn't help 😵💫 Ugh... I was so hoping it would save me time and money. I will retain this useful information for small repairs. 🤓
@@Dcrown1967 no problem. Good luck with the repair and I’m sorry it didn’t work for you this time
looks a great vice, is it the same as the 'clarke Swivel 140' ? Also why do so many youtubers measure ''for square'' after the cut in this case after the four drill holes have been committed to the bench! Not much you can do after
Hi there. Yes the Clarke swivel 140 is basically exactly the same vice as this one. I’m not sure why they measure for square but I guess it’s because they want the vice to be installed straight but as you suggested, this will only work if they drilled the holes right to begin with. Chat soon! Derek
Dont know why, but all the wood glue i use dries like, completely white Ive used all these. No idea whats going on
Many thanks for your vice advice. I'm just wondering why so many are mounted on the LEFT side of the bench ??? Are most workshop folks left-handed ? Anything to do with political persuasion ? Surely it's neither of these. Is it more practical in some way on the left ? Mine is like yours, but mounted at the RIGHT hand corner of the bench. It has a swivel base like yours, BUT I'm so envious that yours also has vertical swivel.
I don't know why they mount them on the left side. Seems odd. The vertical swivel is definitely handy.
I can't get this small dent to come out of my guitar 😔
Did you try steam
Sometimes the finish on the wood will stop the steam from penetrating
I did try steam. I think it may have made it smaller? But thats it
@@icepick859 if it doesn’t come out it’s because the wood fibres have been cut
I've flattened a wood figures nose, can this be sorted
Thanks 👍
Thanks Derek, now AUD183.00 at Bunnings, found a brand new one on gumtree for AUD120.00, still wrapped and in the box, fantastic. Great review, made choosing easy. Regarding locking off the shaft, I checked this, pretty good feature, however I would recommend always locking it off on larger jobs to keep the job from swinging around when the jaws are loosened 😃 Keep up the good work. best regards from South Oz
Thank you. No problems. Yes prices just keep rising unfortunately
Very nice my man, very nice. See, lots of people turn their nose up on old stuff. A little time and effort and you got yourself a gorgeous set up. Enjoy it, you've earned it. 🤙
Thank you very much. Yes it’s a keeper!
Inspired 🫡
Will the steam remove the finish from my floor?
Sorry for the delay with responding. Be careful with lacquer finishes as the steam can get under it causing it to lift
Thanks
Looks suspiciously like Bondo, having hardener and all
I got the same vice from my local Bunnings Bloody good vice 👍 Do ya no what the other features are ? I was wondering about the Dimond shape Dose anyone no ❓
The diamond shape on the other side is for holding pipe or other round objects
Thank you for your demonstration! I've been shopping for a brown wood glue, and TItebond III is the winner!
Same exact vice different name for $75 bucks from Harbor Freight
🤣 Cheap SOB
@@ThatCleanMT I got the harbor freight one. Works great!
This is strange Pony make exactly same vise!!! Im looking at my mine right now! I wonder if they order them on small factory.. lol
Hi Derek, what size coach screws did you use for this? Thanks for the upload
I used 75mm coach screws that go down into the main beam of my workbench
@@woodworkhubby721 Thank you!
What width?
Hi is this a six or four inch need something small for a van?
Hi there. This vice is a 6 inch
Okay thanks hope the 4 inch is a bit smaller.
No worries.
I just bought the most expensive vise Ace Hardware had. Actually, it was the only one they had. $130. It too is an Irwin 6" jaws, but it doesn't rotate. Swivels, but no rotate. It weighs 31.4 lbs. (14.2 Kgs or 2.24 Stones). My old one weighed about 5 lbs ( 2.2 Kgs or 0.35 Stones). It was just a small one and served me well with most things but it finally snapped at the base ( it was a screw clamp type and iron I believe) Irwin is headquartered in Maryland but these are "Made in China" according to the retail box. Everything's made in China. I think I'll start a company making Chinese handcuffs and print "Made in USA" on them.
Haha. Yes I think everything is made in China. I have had good results with this vise so far.
Thanks Derek for the video. Woodwork Wifey here. I've just make a new workbench. Based on your very informative video I'll be buying one of these vises.
Lol. No worries
Thanks mate, good info. I'll go watch your workshop setup video too.
I got this vise for $108. Also plan on bolting it down to my workbench. Word of advice for anyone that does not know - make sure to bolt down at distance from edge of work table such that your back jaw (the non movable jaw) is off the edge. Reason being is that if you swivel vise head down, you can still have something clamped and not interfere with work table.
Good point - Thanks for adding that. Mounting position for any vise definitely needs some thought.
Thanks Mate.
You're welcome!
These were great experiments! Thank you!
Thank you!

had this vice on my workbench in my garage for a year. definitely top notch.
Yes it is working well for me also. I’m glad I purchased it
$101 here in the state's. Things are too damn pricey abroad!? Hope it lasts you a good long time!!
Yes $150 where I am but well worth it in my opinion.
Quick question.. debating on Ryobi cordless vs a different brand pneumatic. I’m a low key honey do list DIYer.. is the cordless worth the addded expense?
Yes I believe the battery ones are worth the extra expense as you don’t need to drag an air compressor around with you. I’m actually going to a cordless review in the next couple of weeks

Hi, looking in from the UK! Great concise review, yet you managed to demonstrate all the features, which is just what I wanted to see. I like the way you narrated over the speeded-up video. I'm looking at this model as a poor man's Yost 750, looks like it should do the job well. Thanks!
Hi Stephen. I’m glad it helped somewhat. Good luck with your vise.

If you adjust the depth properly it won’t make a dent.
That is true but it depends how deep you want the nail driven in
For all 10 reasons....check out my website at woodworkhubby.com
I was horrified by the dint it’s putting in the wood... I mostly want it as a stapler anyway though.
Heath Eldridge yes that’s the only downfall to it
Amaze ! Where can l find template plan for commercial pool table
Billy Phillip I’m not sure. I made my own template off another table
Thanks for the review, never owned a nail gun or even an air compressor for that matter. Looking at these as an entry level option to do some stuff around an old house I bought (fence building, chicking coop build, sub floor etc). I think this 3 in 1 is a good first buy
5wisher 5weet yes I think they would be perfect for that. Mine is still going well
Just got one today with the Ryobi compressor. I'll give it a crack tomorrow :)

Absolutely!
