    I took Peter Pan last Sunday When my sister was going to college for the second time after she stayed at our place for the summer me my mom and brother We helped her move stuff into her new dorm might as well call it an apartment because of how spacious that place was not even our apartment is that huge. We took flixbus going to PA and my mom me and brother took Peter Pan Going back to nyc we was a minute away from missing the bus if my brother didn’t end up holding the bus driver a lil bit wasn’t our fault though because they gave us a different address and that was where our taxi driver dropped us off at After the ride it was calm till the clouds were dark and green And it started raining it was a very chill ride I love that It started pouring and I mean POURING right before we entered Lincoln tunnel and it cleared up after we got out the traffic there WAS INSANE 30+ minutes stuck there it was driving me insane Especially when I wanted to go to my favorite deli before they closed that’s right next to my house but that’s the case everytime though the driver was REALLY rude though I prefer Flixbus way more the lady who drove us for flixbus was really nice Anyways thanks for reading I hope you have a good day!

    I like the soft shells better than the hard shells too. The hard shells give the impression that crime is so bad the MTA cannot make things comfortable because then they'd fail to harden the train against vandalism. Personally I call them accordians and metal passages respectively.

    These trains are nice but won’t fix the subway. MTA should use the money on fixing the infrastructure instead of buying new trains. This comes from a European person.

    • @Flushing2Fishtown
      @Flushing2Fishtown 6 месяцев назад

      Buying new trains will save the MTA money that they currently have to spend on the frequent repairs for the old unreliable trains that are now approaching 50 years of age. That money can then be used for other improvements to the system. The new trains are also compatible with the new CBTC signaling system that they plan on installing on more lines which will also improve the reliability of the system. On top of that, the MTA suffers from a fleet shortage that the new trains will help to fix, allowing them to run more frequent service on more lines. New trains are definitely an important part of the MTAs plan to improve the system.

    • @nashorn9745
      @nashorn9745 6 месяцев назад

      @@Flushing2Fishtown a new train will always be more unreliable than an old one for the first 1-2 years until the last problems are solved by the manufacturer. Some thing most US systems get wrong is to not modernize the stations and insides of trains all trains except the R 46 and 68 should get this information display. Old trains aren’t unreliable as long as you maintain them correctly in my country they use engines from 1962 on most services these engines are over 60 years old and most of them were retrofitted with ETCS those engines will run for at least another decade making the oldest ones over 70 years old.

    • @mmrw
      @mmrw 6 месяцев назад

      @@nashorn9745you don’t know what you’re talking about bro, you clearly just aren’t familiar with this system. Replacing old cars with new ones is not a waste of money and is a really routine thing that every transit system around the world does. Even if you can continue to maintain older cars you will still have to replace them eventually anyway, that’s just a fact

    • @nashorn9745
      @nashorn9745 6 месяцев назад

      @@mmrw it's not about the R211A or R211S but only the R211T open gangway variant. It's a miniseries of trains that can't run on express tracks and is always going to be expensive to maintain compared to the normal R211 train. New York might never be able to have open gangway cars on express services and only having them for local trains doesn't make sense.

    • @mmrw
      @mmrw 6 месяцев назад

      @@nashorn9745 the reason you have a pilot program is to see what the kinks are. If this particular order really can’t be retrofitted to run on express tracks (something I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to take care of), they can address that in future orders. If they are really so much harder to maintain (something that there’s also no indication of), they don’t have to order any more. Open gangway cars do offer unique benefits so it is still not a waste of money to try them out

    Don't hold your breath waiting for the anti-trolley management at SEPTA to put any of the few rebuilt PCC cars back in service. It's now 2024 and there is no sign of them coming back. They'll stall it as long as they can get away with it. Don't think that because tracks and wires have been replaced {at taxpayer expense} that it would insure a return of trolley service. There are places with brand new tracks and wires that were done years ago and have never had a trolley on them. SEPTA deliberately scrapped or sold the trolleys to make sure those lines could never come back. One example is part of Rt. 23 on Germantown Avenue in the Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy sections of Philadelphia. The fact that people up there want the trolleys back means nothing to SEPTA. Guess who allowed the PCC II cars to fall into disrepair. And leave it to SEPTA to completely screw up the 'in house' rebuild of the cars. It would have been a perfect opportunity to correct things on the cars, such as the dangerous blind spots on the windshields, caused by an improper rebuild back in the early 1980's. It was also a perfect opportunity to paint the cars correctly. But the bus folks at SEPTA could care less about such things and did none of them, even though it was suggested to them. They completely ignored the suggestions and advice.

During rush hour the train is known as the Port Jervis line, expresss from the Secaucus Transfer to Suffern, NY. then turns local. To/From Salisbury Mills/Cornwall you were on the highest trestle East of the Mississippi. then Campbell Hall. Next was Otisvile, with its' mile-long tunnel. Next time, check out High Point State Park, highest point in NJ, and a few miles from Port, via 23 South. From there you can see NY, Pa, NJ, and on a very clear day, the Catskills and even NYC skyline. Bring binoculars. It tends to be windy up there. Glad you enjoyed this trip. Thanks for posting!

This is somehow more than what can be said for the city I live in, Philadelphia, where major bus companies like Greyhound now stop curbside. It's owned by Coach Canada who uses it for their Toronto to Montreal Megabus services. In the past they used to have buses to other destinations like Ottawa and Niagara Falls from there as well.
