As a former Volly I tip my cap to your response and to the citizenry for their actions to help you get there quickly. In America, self-centeredness is the norm and that clear path to the scene would be non-existent.
Why dont German fire departments utilize the shoulder rather than drive between cars?
Awesome! Love seeeing the volunteers. Truly amazing how the motorist leave a lane for firetrucks.

Having been a volunteer firefighter in the States, we had a major interstate running through our area, I wish American drivers would move and separate the lanes like these folks did. Most of the drivers in the states are ate up with themselves and wouldn't move for their mothers. Some times it was a struggle to get by on the shoulder. Great job guys,. Thank you for a great video, one suggestion, play "Heat Wave" next time.

It might as well be on an alien planet. It’s such a fundamental difference between their society and American society. It’s so fun to watch your society disintegrate in front of your eyes. I’m sure nothing bad will happen from it.

Rettungsgasse und Hilfsfrist for the win. This is German emergency blitzkrieg! And all was made possible and transferred to law by Björn Steiger Stiftung. Björn was a small kid, injured by car and it took up to 60min for the ambulance to come to site. Because lack of phone, central emergency number and regulations He could have survived with proper help and since then we have the by far fastest emergency response system worldwide. When I have to be proud to pay taxes then because of this....

Max respect to all firefighters, but that was a small car set in fire in an open highway , nothing special, almost just an ordinary action. No doubt they'll perform fantastics interventions tough. Most impressive, for me, was the behavior of the drivers, nice open path

The reaction of the other motorists is a lesson to be learned. Everybody making way for the fire tender, nobody blocking the road trying to be the first past the incident - and no rubber-neckers on the opposite carriageway!
It’s amazing to see all the other vehicles moved over to allow the fire engine access. Instead we have drivers that are driving right next too, directly behind or will not move aside for 6:03 the fire engine

Seems like a huge waste of time..... amazing any emergency get dealt with when you're having to wait for everyone to show up let alone get dress & on the truck. I'm done.
That's how volunteer fire departments work, duh.
what do you expect? it's a small village which obviously has only a volunteer FD. They're at work, at home or elsewhere in the area and have to get to the station first

because it was NOT built for this purpose. It's a breakdown lane, not an emergency vehicle driving lane as it's absolutely not suitable for that

@@Alby_Torino it fits cars and trucks when they're stationary, but they're too narrow to drive on. The standard width is exactly as wide as a truck chassis - without side mirrors. But apart from that many older highway sections also have a narrower hard shoulder, and there are also sections with none at all. Common in e.g. construction zones, tunnels, some bridges, many urban sections, first and last miles of a highway, onramps and exit lanes of every single access etc ... The emergency corridor in between the lanes is a univeral approach which works in all but one situation
