Porsche 996.2 GT3 - Scuderia Hanseat May 2024 - Final exam lap
Final exam lap of the Scuderia Hanseat May 2024 driver training.
I scored 142 out of a possible 210 points. The session was red-flagged from Pflanzgarten on due to a crash, so the last few corners were all at slow speed.
The car is on Michelin PS4S tyres

We participated in the Scuderia Hanseat Spring 2024 training May 5 - 8. Very little instruction on the wet lap, even though it rained for 2 out of the 3 days. This was also the first time the Scuderia Hanseat did not use the section training concept. The car is on new Michelin PS4S tyres

One of the most enjoyable laps of the season on the last day! The Focus was being driven on its doorhandles and great to watch while following. I now have the Tractive ACE suspension mounted and this was the first time using it on track in the GT3. The car is on Pirelli P-Zero Rosso’s that I’ll replace for next season, and is running Pagid RSL-29 brake pads.

Had to try the new pit-lane reststop, and it was nice to have that option, considering how busy it was around the track due to the Oldtimer GrandPrix. I hope the trial is successful and Nürburgring GmbH introduce this permanently on weekends.

I've upgraded to a 996.2 GT3 with bucket seats, half-cage and 6-point harnesses. Last Thursday was the first time driving it on track at another Porsche Performance training on Zandvoort. It was more a shake-down then really getting the most out of the car and my driving. It's on Pirelli P-zero Rosso's and has AST suspension and Pagid RS-29 pads, which is how the car came. This guy can drive ! Hit all the lines perfectly. 996 did great 🥇💪
Nice driving....would love to drive my 996 c2 on the Ring....so fun!!
Gaaf! Congratuations! (Shame about the crash) Did the same event last year may in my 996.2 , only got 135 points haha, was having way too much fun to stick to the plan. First outing with the then new TracTive suspension (awesome!). Going again this coming September. Please say hello to your brother for me. Cheers, Remco
Juul only got 133 points.. :-) The Tractives are awesome at the ring, especially with the changing weather conditions we had.
@@factorylooks9430 Would love to hear your feedback on the new format; are you perhaps coming to Zandvoort on the 28th?
I think the section training is what used to set Scuderia Hanseat apart. The follow-me allows for a lot more driving time though, but I think they need to tweak the format to be able to give more individual feedback, as that's what I felt was lacking. Apart from learning about a few more surface changes, braking points and shifted apexes, I didn't feel like I learned much for a 3 day training. So I have no idea how I would have been able to improve my score. I'm currently not planning to do the June training at Zandvoort, waiting for the next date to be released.
I have mixed feelings about it too, really liked the section by section training, and the immediate feedback from the track-side coaches. 3rd Zandvoort date is September 24th, so clashes with the Scuderia Hanseat fall event.
Just booked for the 28th, see you there 🙂
Sensible but rather disappointing how slow the car is. Also has really long gearing which perhaps makes this appear quite slow.
Jetz wenn dus noch könntest.....
Nice, very nice.
And 😀? Lot’s better? Or same as same as? Very clean driving btw. Sub nine BTG, with traffic as well, out of my league😊 Maybe one day….
I'll need to do some more playing around with the settings on track, which was a bit difficult with the changing conditions on Sunday (drying track), and the previous AST set was not in bad shape, but I could lean on the tyres a lot more, which also means I now know what the next improvement will be :-)
Is your suspension as punishing as it looks or is that the camera? What is it like on the streets? Thank you, -Tom. Great video!
It's the camera. I was using an iphone at the time, I've since upgraded to GoPro with better stabilisation. The Tractive suspension can be set from "softer than stock" to "kidney brace required" electronically from the cockpit.

just wondering PMS off?
I tend to keep that on on the Nordschleife, I'm not trying to break the lap record.

i have a question: why the gloves? do they help in any way? like absorb sweat or something?
After a few laps my palms can get pretty sweaty, and on a leather steering wheel this could mean I loose grip, so yes, mainly to ensure I don't loose control of the steering wheel and possibly the car.
@@factorylooks9430 wow thanks for the answer :) the video is great btw... the 996 is my favourite porsche
do you have a deep sump or upgraded oil baffle?
It's got a sump spacer and dual oil pickup. The valves open/close based on the centrifugal force during cornering.
@@factorylooks9430 who makes the dual oil pickup?
@@hitorihouse2612 It's made by Auto-Resto : auto-resto.nl/en/left/olie-pick-up-modificatie-voor-cirquit-gebruik/

Hello There, I've just discovered a few of your 996 trackdays videos that I appreciated a lot, so Thanks for sharing I guess ;) I also have a 996 that I start to take on local trackdays, could you please share some of your mods (I've already seen your video about suspensions settings), I am mainly interested in your performance/reliability/oiling/cooling mods if you did any ? what oil are you using ? thanks a lot for sharing your experience ;) have fun !
Glad you like the videos. Quick list of the mods: - Uprated waterpump and low temp thermostat - GT3 front wheel-arch liners for additional flow through the radiators and towards the front brakes - sump spacer and dual oil pickups to keep oil pressure steady during cornering (unfortunately, during braking there is still a pressure drop) - Mobil 1 5W50 - 997 GT3 front and rear brake ducts - High temp brake fluid, braided hoses and Brembo Sport pads. That's pretty much it. I don't have any performance upgrades other than the suspension, as there is little gain to be had on these engines. I've gotten most I can get from this car, and I'm currently looking to upgrade to a GT3.
Nice lines, and i can see how much you are enjoying driving that, great when you get into that groove and flow
Added to my favs. 😊
Quand on roule avec une voiture comme ça, on regarde devant et pas entre les sièges ! 😕
ou avant de partir oui... de toute façon le conducteur se promène ☺
What were the cars passing at 6:27? Impressive pace.
Looks like a Yaris GR and an modified E92?
What tires do you run? I have Michelins PS2 but thinking of something not N rated. Btw I’ll be there with my 996 next weekend. Would be cool picture the two cars :)
That was with Sport Cup 2 on the front, and PS2 on the rear. Sport Cup's were done after Brands Hatch though, so they've now been swapped for PS2's as well. I'll be back at the Ring end of Oct or the last open weekend in Nov.
i think that mini was toying with you lol he definitelyt has more hp in his thing
I subscribed because of the quality and the fact that you guys barely talked and did an awesome lap! Well done!
whats your honest feedback after running them for over a year now? curious of the comfort when its in a soft mode
Still very happy with them. It's comparable to the standard suspension in terms of comfort, as I went with similar spring rates. Being able to change the pitch and roll stiffness is the biggest advantage when doing different types of driving and in different conditions. Switching from no dive/pitch to a softer setting in a middle of a lap on the ring when it starts to pour down is a massive confidence booster. When doing driver trainings and I need to generate oversteer/understeer, I can dial it in to make it easier to induce. So yeah, big fan.
🧐
Excellent lap in a 996
Great sounding and handling car. What model 996?
It's a 3.6 C2
What tyre are you running?
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 in the front, PS2 in the rear.
If the gopro/camera is mounted to the driver front side window view will be great.
Any oiling mods?
Yes, I've got dual pick-ups in the sump, as well as a sump spacer adding around 2 liters of additional oil capacity.
@@factorylooks9430 awesome, where did u get the dual sump pickup?
@@pedoloverfortheages It's an in-house development from a Porsche specialist in NL : auto-resto.nl/en/left/olie-pick-up-modificatie-voor-cirquit-gebruik/

why a mini ? you live in uk?
I’ve got a 02 996 manual the only negative is people sometimes go out there way to be rude the Porsche thing…,I’ve also got a eg civic that needs a paint the negatives with that is all the modern hatchbacks wanna show you how much faster they are. That’s why I’m in my 03 E class most the time nobody notices it.
@@christophercolumbus8944 It's a fun car!
Looks like you are tracking your 911 regularly. Have you done any track prep to the engine ?
I've had the cooling system modified to protect against the bore-scoring issue, as well as a dual oil-pickup to ensure constant oil pressure in the longer corners. The carter was increased by 2 liters at the same time to provide more oil volume for additional cooling. A mods video is still on my to-do list.
@@factorylooks9430 Which dual pickup did you go with? I've been considering doing the same to my 996.1.

@@factorylooks9430 Cool! You're really on it in these vids. I have the same car and cant wait to take it on track!

Hi! Great driving! I'm super jealous of your access to Nürburgring <3. I have a 996 and I'm wondering what you are using for a camera mount in these videos? Is there a roll cage that you're mounting it to?
I've got it mounted at the top of the rear window, just a regular GoPro taped mount. They're small enough to no be obtrusive when I don't have GoPro mounted.
Great videos, thanks for sharing! can you point me out to the place where i can enroll for such training? (i live in NL and have a 996)
Hi Jonathan, these can be booked through the Porsche24 app, or through the Porsche dealer network. No NL events for 2022 have been published yet, but they should be available soon.
Excuse moi mec mais tu sait pas conduire
Thanks for the feedback. Any specific issues with my driving you'd like to point out?
excellent quality. What did you change with the camera setup?
Thanks! I upgraded to a Hero 8 and got the settings right
Thank you for speaking so little. Great sound!
What head unit is that?
It's a Sony XAV-AX100, with a Euro Motorspeed DIN installation kit to match the interior as closely as possible.
@@factorylooks9430 I love the fact that there is a volume knob! Thank you!
I wonder how much it would cost to ship mine over and try that?
Depending on your location, it's probably cheaper to rent one locally :-)
Will add like the other poster, camera mount needs tweeking. Could not watch after a min, vibrations and brightness washing out the video. But still gave a thumbs up for taking the time to post it.
Thanks for the feedback, I've since upgraded to a better setup, although getting the lighting settings correct while still having some in-car visibility in the frame is challenging. I'm thinking about a multi-cam setup to negate that issue.
Wow, sheeesh, it isn't at all bad. Very watchable. Some ppl are so fussy. Inception was much worse, the Christopher Nolan film
@@spencer.kissack.the.author Look at the later videos he's posted, huge improvement. Given the views vs likes ratio, seems more people agree.
Just wondering, what oil do you run in this car?
I run the Porsche recommended Mobile1. I do have a dual oil-pickup which keeps oil-pressure at 4-5 bar in high-G corners, and a bigger oil sump (2L additional) to ensure oil supply and temperature stay within spec on track.
Damn that looks sooooo fun! Nice driving!!
Nice smooth lap! 👍
