The destined one keeps repeating the journey till truly inherit Wukong’s mind…poor Celestial Court has to keep getting hit over and over again 😂 what a genius storyline design!
You shouldve just used gameplay from the game. Sorry but i dont want to watch those old chinese dramas while getting the lore, its not cool to look at and its not helping me follow the lore.
Wukong himself is a wild born child armed with tremendous power and intellegent, selestial court is human based world. Thats why they cant let the most powerful wild born child to run freely without subject to human rules.
should be noted in the original journey to the west arl lang stopped being wukongs equal when wukong broke out of the furnace, at that point wukong was stronger then him.
The respect is mutual between Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen.
Where is the last quote from? I can't find it.
love china culture.

cool😀
i was so confused at the end of the game when he let that go on his head🤦♂
Bru I’m marcusmceachin I fought the bosses in the wrong order and got the bad ending
@@bface19 so did i 😂 knowing Journey to the West and I didn't want that shit on my monkey
@@bface19 It does not help that online guides are falsely saying that you need to beat the Broken Shell before you can fight Erlang
At the end of the journey the headband disintegrate.
I didn’t understand this in the game. He sacrificed himself to free himself from the headband, but at the end of the game we put it back on when we are the reincarnation of wukong. So he sacrificed himself for nothing cause the headband was put back on
Cause you got the shitty ending bro.
@@Nigmachan I did the erlang ending, he still put the headband on
No, the true ending is him opening his eyes and regaining his memory before the headband was put on. That’s is why we get a reverse journey to the end cutscene. The true ending never gets put on him and the last scene in the cutscene where he walks out to the cave is him heading to the heavens as a free monkey.
@@ambition2959 no, in the true ending he did not.
@@maxchen9185 idk I did erlang before the great sage battle and the ending he still put the headband on, was I supposed to do the great sage then erlang?
The epicness of this story almost sounds like Matrix, as if the Celestial Court is the Machine World, The Mortal Realm is The Matrix, Sun Wukong is the Neo and Erlang Shen together with his army are the Agent program, whereas Guanyin and Buddha are the Oracle and Architect of this story that shackle and bind Sun Wukong to comply and finish the journey to the west just like how Neo suppose to reboot the Matrix to clear off the accumulated bugs (yaoguai in the story) happen in the Matrix.
What does that text say at the end? Freaking thumbnail covering the entire thing.
As the old monkey moved to place the headband on the Destined One's head, the reborn Wukong began reciting the chant that had tortured him so many times. The Old Monkey dropped the band in a panic as it grew tighter and tighter and slowly crushed itself. Sun Wukong rose to his feet and looked the old monkey in the eye. "I am their slave no longer. And the Celestial Court will pay for what they've done."
Omg .. you use the 1986 tv show... .. bring me back to my childhood.. :,)
Why put writing in the end of the video if you going to cover up the writing with a link to another video. Irritating.
Wow, I thought this would have been impossible for a westerner to understand... Bravo!😂
@ 7:38 there is a mistake, the creatures (i.e. end bosses of each chapter) possessing the relics are NOT Erlang's sworn brothers. There is a hidden artefact in each chapter that makes the chapter's end boss much easier to defeat, the secret bosses that guide the Destined One towards these artefacts are Erlang's sworn brothers.
There is no relic in chapter 3
@@moxtordoki96 true, but you still need to fight one of the sworn brothers in chapter 3 to reach the secret ending. Also the chapter 3 sworn brother reward makes the Yin Tiger (the hardest boss in chapter 3) much easier to defeat.
@@CrasusC u mean the watter melon guy?
@@moxtordoki96 yes. The green-capped martialist.
@@moxtordoki96 if you notice every time you do a quest or fight a boss about secret quest the npc always mention that their brother told them to tested him
When some western streamers called it a crown, i laughed 😂 that's not a fault from them to not knowing the story anyway.
Would be epic if the sequel is where he heads up with his new squad and gets his freedom.
First, it's important to differentiate between the original story and the game. In the original Journey to the West, the Golden Hoop Spell (Tightening Headband) serves a necessary purpose, and its binding force is actually limited to the relationship between Tang Sanzang and Sun Wukong. Tang Monk even promised not to recite the spell unless Wukong behaved violently again (although due to conflicts and misunderstandings, he recited it five times in total). In the end, the headband was indeed removed. The headband symbolizes self-discipline and a greater destiny. However, in the game Black Myth: Wukong, the premise is different. The story is based on a conspiracy theory interpretation: the Golden Hoop Spell was never truly removed, and the Buddhist powers are secretly using it to control Sun Wukong. So, in this narrative, not wearing the headband symbolizes breaking free from constraints and continuing the fight for the people. A good narrative can reveal different meanings in different times and hands, which is really fascinating.
The fact that Black Myth's interpretation of Buddhahood is completely different is evidence that they're telling a different interpretation of the Journey to the west.
Reminds me of Greek story kratos
@@diegoraka719 I don't know what you're trying to say, but it certainly wasn't copied
In the original Journey to the West, the golden headband (紧箍咒) is not merely a tool of restraint and control; it symbolizes Sun Wukong's spiritual growth. By wearing the headband, completing the journey to the West, going through 81 tribulations, and witnessing the suffering of the world, he attains the great wisdom necessary to achieve Buddhahood. After Sun Wukong becomes a Buddha, the headband automatically disappears. This signifies that he no longer needs external restraints, as he has developed a mature inner self, learned self-discipline, and can act freely without going to extremes. This concept is also reflected in Black Myth. After starting the second playthrough, you will notice that the sixth root, "意" (willpower), in the skill tree has the headband as its icon. This symbolizes that Sun Wukong has attained true freedom-not only free from external restraints but also in complete control of his own mind.
The Monkey King himself was a free person himself until a monk tricked him into wearing a golden headband that tightening Circle it and restrain his true power and strength in nature the golden headband is the reason why killed in Black myth Wukong
Looking into the lore of Erlang in Black myth, he is the one that takes Wukong's sixth relic AKA the mind, which is all of Wukong's memory and experience within Erlang's third eyes. When you defeat Erlang and retreat Wukong's mind as the sixth relic, the destined one naturally rejects to wear that band again.
Where's the anime ,from this video ?
it's in the game..
After end of every chapter
So the quality is so good you thought it was an Anime?
The headband is basically a "slave collar". It is used by both Heavens (Taoism and Buddhism) to control Wukong.
The headband is only used by Buddhist deities, not Daoist ones. The Daoists straight up tried to kill Wukong by cooking him in an elixir oven, but failed (only gave him eye irritations). So they called on their Buddhist frenemies to deal with their pesky monkey problem. The Buddha trapped Wukong under a mountain for 500 years, then when he was let out of his life sentence on parol, they tricked him into wearing the headband so they could continue to control him. Only the Buddhists pretend to be merciful by favoring imprisonment/enslavement over capital punishment, the Daoists have no problems with corporeal and capital punishment.
In the novel, it's more like a version of a monk's discipline paddle that the head monk uses whenever a student loses focus when meditating.
From the fluid animations to the atmospheric soundtrack, everything seems meticulously crafted to immerse players in the world of Sun Wukong.
I have a theory that The Destined One is the Mind of Sun Wukong given form by the relic. He represents Wukong’s yearning for freedom and the will to go on. The mind relic seek other five while the other five seek one. This makes sense considering that the Stone form of Wukong didn’t crack at the beginning. The Destined One is the mind given form, so until that task is completed, he cannot enter the metaphysical realm of Wukong’s mind. Also, i think the Destined One was born from the Stone. Destined One is very similar to the Stone Monkey / Broken Vessel because he is bereft of six senses, making him an incomplete living being and cannot speak. However, the Broken Vessel is bereft of all sense but one, Mind. The old monkey said that because he didn’t know about the location of the last relic. Some people read Erlang journal entry and thought that Erlang took a relic and thats why it was lost. I think that is not the case. A celestial soldier saw him took a piece but never specify. It was deemed lost simply because it wasn’t separated from Wukong in the first place. Kind of poetic actually. They can take everything from Wukong except his mind, which would later prevailed against all odds in the form of the Destined One. And I came into the same conclusion; the relic wasn’t lost, or with Erlang, but it was incomplete. This has two glaring evidences. 1. If you start NG+ without the true end, the Mind Relic would not awaken and has no upgrade on it. This is very obvious that it was incomplete. We also don’t get the relic after defeating Erlang. 2.Visual storytelling. All relics have distinctive golden light, but we saw no golden light after defeating Erlang. However, we can see the golden light as the core of the Stone Monkey before he transforms into the Broken Vessel. As for why Erlang did what he did, i think its a gamble between him and Wukong. Erlang wanted to see if he can truly escape the shackle, and Wukong had to store his memory or it would fade away after his death. This might be why Erlang said “The win is his” and “Only now i understand that fight”. The condition for retrieving the memory is probably “to prove that you are equal to Sun Wukong even in your incomplete state”
That actually makes a lot of sense and very fitting for his character. Journey to the West is an allegory, and Sun Wukong represents the MIND. He's also known as the "Intelligent Stone Monkey" so the Destined One being his mind fits a lot for what Sun Wukong represents
The reason Wukong put the headband on his head . . . ruclips.net/video/fJCX9B1vnSI/видео.html
This has been my understanding as well. The only difference is that I see the very last of the animation as coming full circle to the beginning of the game.
Great observation and interpretation 👍
That's interesting
great
In fact, if you have seen the manga Seven Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama, you will find that the early Seven Dragon Ball is actually drawn according to the composition of the characters of Journey to the West.
Just like I try to comprehend the backstory of the Witcher 3 wild hunt. But Chinese stories often carry a long historical depth, which requires a sense of the connotation of Chinese culture.

The reason why monsters in Chinese mythology want to become human is due to Buddhist teachings, in Buddhism, the human race offers the only pathway into Enlightenment. The Buddha teaches that the even the most powerful gods will exhaust their good karma eventually though it may take trillions of years and will become subject to karmic laws. Being a god and surrounded by luxuries and power makes one forget that fact. Being a monster and suffering too much makes one unable to focus on the goal towards Enlightenment. The human race with its equal parts good and bad is deemed most desirable

My opinion on why we reincarnate in this world is for us to learn and eventually gain enlightenment so we can join the gods to help them with other things that's beyond our mortal mentality.
