General BW's Workshop
Финляндия
Добавлен 21 окт 2022
The channel where a mechanical engineer uses his knowledge and skills in real life to create and build stuff.
Check the list of ideas further down!
When possible, I will have drawings available for my builds, some will be free, but some of the more complicated ones might have a small price.
The Build ideas
Here are just some ideas I have designed to some degree:
CNC Plasma cutter
Welding Table
Wheel Straightening Machine
Belt Sander
Sand Blasting Cabinet
Dynometer (For Motorcycles)
Wood Processing Machine (To Make Firewood)
Small Tractor
RC Baja (4-Stroke Gasoline Engine)
RC Bulldozer (Hydraulic)
RC Tank (Leopard 2A4, 1:5)
Camp Grill/Fireplace (With Folding Tables)
Who knows, we might have to expand my workshop together in the future!

Engineer Tries To Build: YAMAHA R1 2008 FROM SCRATCH - PART 1 - Crankcase & Pistons
Просмотров 745Год назад
This is the first video of the first build series, where a mechanical engineer tries to build something in practice. In this first series I try to build a 2008 Yamaha R1 from a pile of part boxes. I know I need a spring compressor in this build for the front forks, so I will need to build that also. Join and see how it goes, or doesn't! -General BW
keep going! almost done. been watching you since the beginning. i have a 08/r1 too.
@@sallysmith6723 Thank you for the support, mate, it really means a lot!! Life is trying to get in the way of the build, hence the slow pace at the moment. I have prepared all the fairings off camera, so once I get the last missing parts it should be smooth sailing to the end 😁
👍
@@KINGofBIKE89 👌🏻
Nice video👍🫡
@@KINGofBIKE89 Thank you, mate! A new episode is almost ready 😎🤙🏻
can't see the brain fart, will probably make the same mistake now.🤔
I hope you don't, because it hurt 😅 I grabbed the nut I just welded with my hand.
@@generalbwsworkshop 😂😂😂😂
Cheers mate, i was just in the process of building one, and you provided all the measurements. Great job!
No problemo, happy to be of help!
Wow you are really hardworking and precise
@@awengmang3517 Thanks!! My engineer nature doesn't allow me to do things any other way, than by the book and as clean as possible.
Thanks just used your plans as a reference to make my tool 6$ worth of material and got to put my new welder !
@@paulgeorge9614 You're welcome, mate! I'm happy to hear my plans have been useful 😎
ARRRR Steve the pirate builds a bike!
@@mcfly8870 Haha, that was a good one, cheers!
Cool videos cheers!@@generalbwsworkshop
Sweet, got that Geoffrey Croker OCD vibe. Good luck with the build. I'd be interested in a narration/voiceover explaining the work being done
Mate, a voiceover is a nice idea. I think I could do a voiceover version of every episode and have a separate playlist for then.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I promise to make new videos faster 😅
hi..can you fix the link for the plans? it doesn´t work...did you update this version or not? thank you
Hi, what do you get when you try to open the link? I opened the link today and it worked fine.
It works now... Maybe it was due to my work pc... Thank you
@@generalbwsworkshop
I’m building mine RIGHT NOW AFTER 12 years….thank you😂
Dude, thats awesome!! Let me know if you need any info 😎🤙🏻
@@generalbwsworkshopMost Definitely will! 🫡 Believe you still have a few more parts of the series to post if I’m not mistaken! Looking forward to the others!
@@USAhomestead You are not mistaken, there are more parts to come! The project was on a small hold due to other things, but it will resume very shortly, I'm just waiting for new shock tubes to arrive 😎
Going to resume the project and I should have the next episode ready at the end of this month/ beginning of May 🤙🏻Missing suspension parts are on the way!!
Nice job
I built exactly the same fork spring compression tool a few years ago for Indian MC forks and works great for Harley and Honda . Super handy tool! I added a rubber on the bottom for the tang sticking up and at the top machined an adapter to allow a socket to remove the shock retaining nut. This works great on the HD Dyna fork tubes too.
Cool! Do you still have it, because I would like to see a picture of it.
Great job thanks
Thank you a lot!!!
awsome mate top job!
Cheers mate! 🤙🏻
Free plans are now available in the description!
Can you give me the measurements?
You sure can, mate! I just have to update the drawings, and I'll put a download link in the description 🤙
Sorry for not showing the tool in action, I have only just now used it while building my Yamaha 😅 And it works!
What's was the error?
The placement for the 2nd ring (d) is missing from the graph, and placement for the oil ring expander (e) is mentioned twice. So, the correct answer is, that (b.e) should actually be (b.d).
got it, wish I could do this
Part 3 of the build is waiting for the block sealant to arrive. 🙄
Epic 🤙🏻
Bro! Volvo still available.
I never pass on a Volvo
Thanks for the mention!
Bro!
