I would have been a director for hire. Success allows you to get the financing even if the studio doesn't believe in the project, but you do." the thing that pisses people off about shakespeare... "If no one has told you yet that you're a genius and an artist, let me be the first." "Genius is magical not material. If you don't have the magic, no amount of wishing will make it so."

"What pisses people off about Shakespeare... Is rage." "Desiring a thing, cannot make you have it." "The problem with writing... Is that we all do a little of it from time to time... And some of us, start to think delusionally, maybe with a little time a little peace... Well, shit, I might be a writer too."

What could be dark in a child's birthday party
🔥🔥🔥
Howd you like to turn 5 again:))) killed me
revolting man
you could have inserted Marvel films in each of those photos
Amex is the cherry on the top
You ever wake up 2 hours into a movie and just walk away?
ok.. if poetry didn't exist.. both shakespear and captain barfell wouldn't be able to realize they're geniuses at poetry which means that they're living in a time where their talent was not only already found.. but appreciated enough to rise above the 9 to 5 grind so they're allowed to apply themselves into it and still make a living and even be admired by most grinders. just like the basketball player that would be NOTHING if basketball didn't exist already. which means every single student sitting in that classroom is a genius.. they're just either too early or too late to apply their own genius onto something that we have either forgotten a long time ago or haven't discovered yet. there isn't an unfair distribution of talent.. there is only an unfair distribution of time-frame.
I need this with Werner Herzog.
C I N E M A
Scorsese really said "too violent" LMFAO satire indeed 😭😭😭😭😭
I remember the commerical, but not knowing who Scorsese really was. I always enjoyed the "turning 5 again" line as a kid
revolutionary war explained in 5 seconds. Americans don’t like to be said what to do. We may fuck it up, but it can only be ourselves 💀
Bro has the biggest eyebrows known to mankind
Well not everyone is him even those that like photography for a hobby know a bit about lighting semetry etc. or just record when something dramatic is happening but they are not trying to make a career of it with professional models or actors. So different now with digital too compared to film waiting to see the prints sometimes they are overexposed or the colour is off but then sometimes you get a really great shot spontaneously too and it's fun to find.
"Good direction, Marty" 🤣🤣🤣
Terrible advice… if you’re not a genius then maybe you’ll never be ranked #1, sure. That’s likely very true in most walks of life… but there are plenty of people who’re not born geniuses that can attain high status in whatever they pursue. You don’t have to be the Greatest Of All Time in order to be respected and compete at the highest level in a particular field. All you need most of the time is Hard Work & Courage. Talent is great! But Talent without any Passion & Drive goes nowhere.
Lol, so the moral of the story is don’t take shit photos!!! 😂😂😂
"...if this be error and upon me proved I never writ and no man ever loved".
"...if this be error and upon me proved I never writ and no man ever loved".
My favorite Amex commercial.😂
This commercial is a dream for any photographer.
This should be required viewing for every high school student. You aren't saving money. You're buying your freedom.
Any film director that's worked with Michael Jackson is definitely a guy to get in contact with.
I wish I could go back and really take this to heart. 10 years ago buying a few cheap houses would have put you in this position now. Instead I'm still a fucking slave
eh, you never know. I did that, and now I am set, but my current house? I bought it at 6% and the value has been flat for 2 years.
it's a great commercial
I adore this
"USA is based on FU. You're a king, you have an army, greatest navy in the history of the world, FU bl#w me" 😮😅😂
The thing I hate most about the idea of talent as a gift is that the idea isn't specific. Like, I can get behind the idea that certain people are more naturally apt to make works communicate certain ideas better than a non-genius would, but that's the problem I have: What ideas are considered genius? What if the Stooges, the Ramones or the Sex Pistols never picked up an instrument, all of whom are a bunch of people who had the most minimal talent? We wouldn't have gotten Nirvana. Robert Johnson was made fun of for how awful he was at guitar, but if he had put down the guitar, so many people wouldn't have been inspired by his playing and music wouldn't have been the same. This line of thought essentially says that the only people who should make art are obvious geniuses like Mozart or Shakespeare (Both people who we can't see the works they've scrapped or threw away), but Vincent Van Gogh was never considered a genius until after he died, where does this idea actually apply? How are we supposed to quantify how useful this idea is? If you don't bother, you'll never be a genius anyway - I would even argue that most people we consider geniuses don't consider their work to be genius either. They did it because they cultivated a love and respect for the craft. All I hear when someone says "You have to be born with talent" is that someone isn't doing the work with pure intentions. They just want the accolades of being a writer, not someone who is actually enjoying writing, so I think that gets to the heart of the problem - Words like talent and genius only matter if you're focused on getting praise and accolades from the masses, which is very rarely how genius-level art is made anyway. I think it's funny that the screenwriter, William Monahan, has said that this monologue is essentially his exact idea on talent but for all intents and purposes, most of his screenplays have been mediocre to downright awful, he got lucky with two well reviewed films at the start of his career and he hasn't kept up the percieved quality since, so why does he keep bothering? It's because he loves the craft, it's what makes him happy - but by his own standard, he should have stopped bothering with screenplays.
Scorsese judges a photo from a five-year-old's birthday party as "too violent". What could the kids have been doing? -C
I think it’s best that we DON’T know my friend 😂
"You must think I'm really sick right? Do you think I'm sick? I bet you think I'm really sick. Anyway, now what a 44 magnum does to a woman's p*ssy, that you should see"
This commercial is better than most movies today.
I NEED THIS POSITION 😂
You should be working towards it everyday. No one is going to give it to you. Work. Save. Invest.
Get up 2.5 million up adjusted for inflation from 2014 to whatever time you manage to achieve it.
A round about way of saying "Dont listen to me, Im angry." With such short term thinking, we wouldnt have Poe or Lovecraft, both died penniless and unknown, but are now culture icons. 📚
stress buster video for me always😂
Good advice!
I find humorous and sincere how his realization is that for more off-putting that being meticulous in a craft is, at the end it's very important for it to be taken seriously (when making something, you need the drive and focus, inside a method or careful process). Even, the commercial about this is, most likely refined as much as it need it, despite being satirical and commercial.
This is the greatest commercial in the history of cinema!
scorsesse super estimado
I'd like you to turn five again 😭😭😭
There's no better proof Marty is that dude than him getting lost in his own thoughts for a second and saying 'ya gotta be serious about making a picture'
Marlon brando was asked what it was like having a acting career and he responded with it paid the bills. He hated acting and the process so badly that he felt it left him empty. If acting makes someone feel that way than why become an actor? Because that was his way out. A scummy job for alright money depending on how much the company wanted to share with him.
Lol Martin is just as interesting as the other people he casts in his movies. I wish we can see more of him in acting parts, he’s entertaining 🤣✋ “Say cheese!” Good direction, Marty!”
This look back & nod at 0:06 is so subtle but so funny too, dude is like "yeah bro i know who you are" but while keeping his job
Martin is an Electron.
He’s the Italian Larry David. Better dressed, better cuisine, better manners. Expressively Neurotic
You can’t be an artist (whether that’s being an actor, musician, filmmaker, writer, painting, etc.) if you’re not committed to pursuing it and/or honing your craft.
Staying on your goals is very important and very inspiring.
When he said “it’s pretty” Scorsese’s face went straight to thinking of committing murder haha
Having seen nearly all of his films, I wouldn’t put it past him 😂
I’ve never seen Martin and Jim’s dad in the same place at the same time.
I'm curious who the antagonist would be in a 5 year old's birthday party.
