I genuinely love every song Sleep Token has ever released, including the ones you don’t like (AYRO? hits me right in my soul, so don’t worry - I’ll listen to it extra for the both of us). I’m honestly just here to get some insight into genre in general and some of the labels people throw around ST because I don’t know the first thing about genre outside of the generic rock/pop/metal, etc. I generally just stick to calling ST genre-bendy with a little bit of everything from metal to rock, to pop, to R&B to jazz sprinkled in. I can imagine that they cause a bit of a stir in the metal scene 🤣 Anyway, I’m rambling. Really enjoyed your deep dive into their music!

I agree he's incredibly skilled but his music is unlistenable. Its like hes an alien trying to understand culture by absorbing it all and then trying to mimic it.

That clip of ai is wild. The emily situation, however... I think , is blown way out of proportion at the current moment. If actualy condemning evidence comes out, that's when I won't support her. I've made many friends who i later learned were bad people. Also, she was apparently raised into scientology, so she's honestly a victim of that cult herself. Maybe she still is in it. Maybe she's trying to figure out where she stands. Maybe shes been out of it for a while and is just scared to speak out about it bc they are known to try to silence people. Whatever the case, shes not shoving down anyone's throats or even publicly supporting it. Innocent until proven guilty is always the way to go. She sounds great ( a little nervous, but that will ease off in time), she seems great, and the band looks happy and is making solid music. Not earth shattering but i liked the song and hope it gets a little more exciting with the other releases.

Many artists have one or more great songs that were born from mixing several works in progress together. This juxtaposition of different sounds is what makes the song so fresh and gives it its iconic sound. It seems like Jacob approaches songwriting with that intention from the outset, which kills the immersion and ends up making the songs feel canned, as though he's the operator of some kind of musical 'package tour.' I actually don't hate any of his songs, they just leave me thinking, 'So close!' The desire to showcase your versatility just isn't a compelling musical theme.

I think a lot of us had high hopes for the album, especially considering his previous work, which I thought was pretty solid. Honestly, this album was a letdown. I hope he comes out with better stuff in the future.

TX2 actually admits to being cringe. Also, he didn't threaten to unalive himself on a live stream. It might just be semantics, but he was trying to make a point. In other words, there are some people who have their minds made up and even something so drastic wouldn't change their opinion. It was actually just the opposite of what you think he was saying. He wasn't saying his feelings were hurt. He's basically saying that if they don't like him that's their business, he doesn't owe them anything and he's not going to jump through hoops for their approval. At least, that's my take. He is young, and still growing as a person and musician. I personally think he's got the goods. At least you ended the video on a positive note rather than a personal attack. I can tell you, he is actually a really nice person and puts on a good show.
