i dont need to watch this to know you are just wrong
is this rage bait?
Scraggly hair is insane 😭😭
"Scraggly hair" is insane 😭 please get your micro-aggressions in check. Also plenty of Elphaba in the Broadway musical have worn black lipstick. Her green lip isn't even that dark.
Wow, this video is asscheeks
I agree with most of your review. This film fell flat for me. I adore the musical so much. I’ve watched it multiple times and I start crying when no one mourns the wicked starts. However in the film I felt no emotion whatsoever. I think it’s mostly due to the directing. Shooting no one mourns the wicked in broad daylight was a miss for me. And I didn’t really feel the hatred of the people towards Elphaba. I also hated defying gravity because they cut it into so many parts…
Okay, at least your critiques of the movie make sense.
@@bats1312 Bro I literally made those points
Yeah, no.
This video is giving incel
"a commentary on women never choosing the nice guy" alright bro
Of course, just as Nessa chasing Boq is a commentary on how the opposite can be equally wrong.
Tough watch man. I dislike a lot of the movie, but the way you speak about it is pretentious and insufferable.
Thanks for listening!
Many of your points come across as purist and biased towards your nostalgia of the stage production. Also saying Jon. Bailey has no charisma is wild; as if just rage baiting counts as a critique. You are in a small minority of people who would agree with you.
I expect faithful and competent adaptations. That does not make me a purist.
I don't get your point about the cape. It's a larger than life moment. What's wrong with the cape growing?
That’s how it is on broadway
It had less to do with the actual moment and more to do with how the director made a lot of terrible decisions in pursuit of realism, just to turn it around and end the movie like that. It would have been a lot better if he wasn't afraid of theatricality.
@@thegasmaskpodcast I don't know. Maybe you're right. I just feel like it's good to have contrast. If the whole thing has giant embellishments like that, they all hit less hard than using it in key spots like the ending. Just my opinion though.
Let me sum it up for you: You’re wrong. And everyone is tired of this rinse and repeat brand of snarky know-it-all cynicism that is simply a badly disguised excuse to be bigoted.
YESSS
Very well said.
Sounds like you're just jealous that I know everything
also scraggly hair? Are you kidding me? Definitely racist and discriminatory. Those are called micro-braids and even though I do not have to inform you based off your ignorance I’m going to anyways. The long nails are an ode to black culture and the wicked witch of the west’s long nails during The Wizard of Oz shooting if you even cared to look at interviews and research. I get that this isn’t a researched piece and that this is purely opinionated without any studying. But you bring this up as if it’s pure fact, in which it is not. please research before stamping that this is right with actuality
I’m not sorry for saying this but Cynthia is a seasoned Broadway actor who originated a role in the color purple, has done many wondrous things, and is one award away from becoming an EGOT winner. I think she is great for this role because it reflects how she is dealt with in present time as well. We give so many actors grace but because the one poster incident she’s evil and has no morals. (Does that ring a bell?) Yes, I heard about the poster incident, and while I can conquer that it was over reactive how would you feel if the world was constantly pushing down upon you until one small thing makes you snap. Your analysis comes off overly biased and quite frankly with some racist undertones. This was her rendition of it while still keeping to the original Broadway shows morals.
Accolades mean nothing when she spends every scene giving the other actors blank stares.
Lots of singing in newer Musical Movies appearis like made for a Singing Contest where everyone wants to overthrow the others.
3:21 Wait! Her eyes are hidden *in the movie* ! Why was she going nuts at that one fan art version of the poster?
Omg your still mad about that? You're worse then Cynthia, at least she got over it 😂
you and the 3 other people who still care about that :
That was one split second moment in a 3 hr movie, smartass
Wow, this podcast host sounds like a real failure
I love this movie and will continue to contend it's the zeitgeist of the 80s as Reality Bites is for the early 90s. My subjective fondness aside, I think there is some brilliance in the film. We're presented with a cast of 7 soon-to-be stars with chemistry, looks, and interesting lives. These positive qualities coupled with the fact that they're presented to us as our main characters suggests they're our protagonists. But their battles are internal so we end up rooting for their personal success. The brilliance is that despite us rooting for these characters each comes with a serious flaw. Your video did a great job summarizing them. I personally think Demi Moore's character is the worst with McCarthy being the most benign. These were overt, unveiled characteristics that everyone recognized, and yet come the end of the film we feel bad for Billy leaving and have resonance with the gang going separate ways. Schumacher gave us a dysfunctional cast that we sympathize with and has come to embody a decade. That's brilliant.
A solid cast to be sure. I think Winningham might be more benign than McCarthy, but it's a toss up.
@@thegasmaskpodcast She’s an enabler and a weakling. McCarthy is just a loser.
I recently watched this movie and thought it was just completely awful. Shockingly so. I was a teen during the 80's and always heard that this was a great movie about my generation. All of the characters were just terrible people and they all treated each other terrible. Well, maybe I didn't go the college party route like others, I don't know. I went to a religious private college and got my degree and I have had a great career and life. I never partied and never wanted to. I have never felt any need to drink or smoke. I enjoy being healthy and still going to the gym. I see people like the characters in this movie and I see them as complete losers. Even if they go on to success, they are going to be miserable. I've lived long enough to see how people like this turn out.
The song was actually written for Rick Hansen’s Man in Motion world tour
I admit it's a great soundtrack.
Well I was in Washington DC in 1985 and a young adult and I would say this is sort of accurate. These characters are caricatures of what people were sort of like or thought was cool as Reaganism was starting to take hold. Although I assure you no one was taking gender studies or any other fluff like that yet. This was the MBA, politician and law school crowd who had decided greed was good and making money was their goal. I was only there briefly for a job and decided sociopathy was not for me. But this movie does show kind of the very beginnings of a large part of the world population deciding money is more important than ethics, survival of the fittest etc. That part is accurate.
A pretty damned good look back... and forward. I was 27 when this came out, and I remember it instantly made me feel old. I was past the point of being 'new' at the career game, but StEF shown a light on this 'terrifying event' as if one misstep would prove to be a certain unredeemable curse upon your life if you got it wrong. But one of the reasons it made me feel old, is that it seemed to kill off the previous generations' Woodstock ideology as if St. Elmo himself was taken out to sea and a giant cast-iron peace sign was shackled to his ankle and thrown overboard. No more 'making the world better' as you point out... just let's get working on the investment portfolio. The 'appeal' I thought was all the middle class kids in the theaters gawking at Georgetown rich kids with all the advantages one could ask for... still fuck it up.
I don’t think ppl thought it was accurate. It’s all about the pretty brat packers and this being the 80s. That’s all.
Their EATING their DAAAAWGS!!!¡
So, not every movie needs to add anything new
What's the point of making essentially the same movie?
I am a Gen X. It is understandable that I would relate to Lydia growing up with her. But Everyone needs to understand Astrex is her father's daughter. He got her interested in client issues...the fact he went and died while trying to save the Amazon forest put a wedge between Lydia and her daughter. This was explained in the movie. The guy was eaten by parahnas. Astrex was also saw Roy for the toxic Crayola he was... but let a pretty face con her. I don't see much woke in what was there. The girl was NOT Gothic or wenseday Addams. Plus her costume was inspired by her father's influence before he died cause he guessed it easily. This is why she is nothing but a daddy's girl and really reminds me of chili USA from sailor moon. Who also was at odds with her future mom over time with her future dad.
I wish they would keep the woke nonsense out of the script. It’s a shame they took it in this direction. Hope it doesn’t ruin the movie.
Thankfully it doesn't, it's a pretty minute aspect. Still an annoying way to write characters though.
It's literally only mentioned. She was trying to find an excuse to get out of going somewhere. She wasn't a feminist. More of an angsty teen who misunderstands her mother. Nothing more
@@shaunlennon8235 She explicitly calls herself a feminist in one scene. It's not a big deal, but that's the truth.
Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara definitely kept it afloat. It could have been so much better! Bah
Was such a let down. It wasn't a bad movie, but as a sequel, major let down. Didn't feel like it matched the energy of the first movie.
Movie sucked so bad
for me it was a sucked so good sort of situation, like it was bad but i still really love it lol
U ain't wrong
One of the many plot holes is that they travel forward to check the dna records that Roger Ap Gwilliam made mandatory when he became PM. Except since Sutekh killed everyone in 2024 Roger never became PM so travelling into the future should have shown the world in ruins like in Pyramids of Mars and earlier in ths same season in the Devil's Chord.
Great review. I like your voice! :-) I can't understand why this video has so many dislikes? The episode is absolute nonsensical garbage - just a series of random events with no explanation. That's NOT a story, it is, as you say, just a complete waste of everyone's time. Even the abysmal TV series "Lost" gave its viewers SOME answers to SOME of the mysteries. This episode gives no answers to ANY of the mysteries. I counted 14 major unanswered questions when I watched it. At the time, I thought this was the all-time worst episode of Doctor Who. "Rogue" went on to challenge this, but I think "Empire of Death" beats them both. Without doubt, the most nonsensical thing I've ever seen, where the Doctor, apparently, is now a wizard who can do anything without any explanation given.
Absolutely spot on
Ive not listen to it yet Big finish cd of sutek mite be easier to link them I consider big finish more cannon than new series
Such exacting pedanticism from one who can't even pronounce "Davies" correctly.
I don't owe him that much respect since he doesn't think he owes the fans anything.
Disney kills shows, needs to go back to BBC America
What if it’s just a story and creative license is a thing and that hardly any of this is actually a science thing so yer. A. Enjoy the stories and the metaphors which is what they are always truly about. B. Grow up!
Creative license does not extend to established variables and never should. I cannot enjoy a story that is nothing like what it is supposed to be. Furthermore, growing up doesn't mean that you should stop caring. Some things are important, like Doctor Who actually being Doctor Who.
@@thegasmaskpodcast yawn, can’t bare gate keeping BS!!!
@@stupatt media criticism is an essential part of fandom. Creators must be kept in check or the product gets worse.

Yeah, and what about the TARDIS mitosis in the giggle? Weird way to lead into a story about someone latched on to the TARDIS. Pretty sure that 15 is still the real doctor and sixteen is the accidental existence of a separate branch of time streams. The new doctor is just all wrong. Scares babys in space babys for amusement 🧐🤔
not to mention when the tardis was put in a humans body in the doctors wife m, maybe her timeline was out of order but she definitely would of said something too bad most of this shit is just made up as they go along
16:28 HE DID THE FUNNY!! 🤣🤣
It's a disappointing made worse by the comparison to the rest of the episodes in this season which were great :(
Okay. I have a theory on this. Sutekh was, in fact, not always on the TARDIS. We have seen that baby crash, be thrown into a star, explode, and implode. My head cannon is that the TARDIS, while out of control due to the coffee spill in Wild Blue Yonder, ended up going straight through the Time Corridor Sutekh was trapped in, allowing him to grab a hold of the TARDIS at that point. It's not until 14 invokes the salt that Sutekh grows in power. With all superstition around death, the god of death grew in power. Just like the Toymaker going back and changing certain things about the Doctor's timeline, Sutekh changes the TARDIS timeline so he can reside in it WITHOUT explosions and implosions.
You see, this is a great explanation, but the problem is Sutekh explicitly mentions he’s made copies of Susan Triad everywhere the Doctor has traveled and it shows shots from a few classic episodes. I really wish this was the case, but RTD seems intent that it was ALWAYS there.
Shame RTD didn’t have a clue what he was doing lmao
Some are saying it has to do with toymaker saying he messed around with the doctors past
Come on now, you dont expect RTD to have given a damn. He wails about cultural appropriation, but is happy to dip into the rich culture and IP of The Doctor and meddle with it for his newly written Mocktor. A bag of blubberig wet lettuce who needs constant hugs and prompting not to be a massive pu5sy. In fact his incompetence has meant in episodes 1 to 7 he only managed to save the villain in episode 1. Every other episode, someone else saves the day.
What if Sutec actually bound to the Tardis in the first l. Before the materialisation of 1911?
Oh the fact that taking death to death would of already happened in the second big bang when the universe was dying and Matt smith doctor fixed it it’s just poor lazy writing
I love you man
